Works Great, mild o.c.
- Pros: I have 8 gigs of this running at 1102 on an Asrock 780a with an Phenom II x4 940, also o.c.ed to 3.41 ghz.
had to jack the voltage a hair over spec and play with bios a bit to get everything where i wanted it. Could probably push the ram farther, but i haven't got a reason yet. Been stable for 6 months plus.
- Cons: Had to set timings manually. no big deal to me.
At one point i started having a lot of issues and I was thinking it was maybe the ram, but it was a bad nvidia driver.
If you can't fit this under a big cpu cooler on an amd board, look at the enzotech amd bracket. allowed me to rotate cooler 90 degrees.
- Other Thoughts: In hindsight, does not match the rest of my components color-wise.
PhenomII 940 @ 3.4, 8g patriot viper 1066, Asrock 780a, EVGA gtx260, PcPower & cooling 750w, Antec 900, scythe kaze server fan controller, xigmatek hdts123v cooler.
set and forget
- Pros: Very fast MEM will buy more, easy setup with 780i MB. Just follow installation timing on MEM box and it will run at 1066 with no problem.
- Cons: No cons at all I have purchased several of patriot MEM set DDR2 and DDR3 and all have set with manufacturer settings and no problems at all. This system is 780i EVGA, 2 8800gts, 4 GIGS MEM, XP32, Windows 7 64, 2 hard drives, cooler master wave case, play all game at max on 22” sharp monitor.
- Other Thoughts: Can’t say enough about this MEM or company I have e-mail tech support and they have been very prompt and help me resolve any and all questions I have had.
Did not meet advertised timing.
- Pros: The heat spreaders are very attractive in green.
- Cons: This memory installed in a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UDP3P and QX9650 would not come close the the 5-5-5-15 time spec. I was only able to get about 4.5GB/s bandwidth no matter what clocking I used. I could not even then run memtest86 over night with zero errors. Worse yet, one stick was just plain bad.
- Other Thoughts: I did have success with the black viper versions, they actually ran at the rated speed. I am using Kingston DDR2's and not only do they run at the rated speed, they are faster than rated and give 5.5GB/s with no memory errors and without overheating. I did not have to fiddle with the timing, the mobo found the sweet spot for me.
