5 out of 5 eggsFantastic memory

Pros: I have used this particular model for a little over a year on several systems I built. I have used Patriot memory for a strong 5 years and I swear by this memory, it is by far the most stable and strongest memory you can buy. Like any good set of RAM you have to let it set at normal config for a good 6 months before you do anything super-fancy with it. Overall I rely on PDP for my memory needs!

Cons: This really isn't a con, but, it doesn't have the strongest overclocking capability. I don't view this as a con because I believe overclocking is stupid (to an extent). This memory lets you overclock so the memory and the CPU still communicate at a stable level. It won't let you go so high as to you're stressing out your motherboard, CPU and memory, voiding your warranty and killing your investment.

Other Thoughts: With regard to the above statement it is a very 'balanced' memory system and I would recommend this memory to anybody and everybody. Plus, it's cheap, and who doesn't want that nowadays.

5 out of 5 eggsGood RAM

Pros: Was very cheap when I purchased this RAM, (about $35 after rebate with a 2GB flash drive and Key for Vantage). I have owned this memory for more than a year and have not had any trouble. I put this in a Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H motherboard and it automatically ran at 1066mhz without having to adjust any settings. Runs very cool. They never feel warm to the touch in my case. I wish I would have bought more of these kits while the price was so low (kicking myself in the head right now for not doing so)

Cons: The rebate did take a while and the price is now more than I am willing to pay. $100 for 4GB DDR2, no way. Even when it works this good, that is more than what is reasonable.

Other Thoughts: The flash drive is pretty fast. It is faster than an 8GB Patriot Xporter XT Boost that I purchased recently. I bought the 8GB drive because I had such good luck with the free 2GB drive. I have washed and dried the thing at least 20 times and it still works great. I have already washed my 8GB drive once and it still works good too.

2 out of 5 eggsProblems

Pros: Price.

Cons: Unstable over 1000MHz, flat out refused to work at the stated 1066 with the voltage at 2.1 and timings of 5-5-5-15. Bought two pair for a total of 8GB, one module was defective.
They are hideous - if you attached a long wooden stick to them you could use them to rake your yard.
Biostar TP45HP mainboard, Q9400 Core2 Quad

Other Thoughts: I am suspecting that Patriot had some QC problems with these.
@Jaxx - don't assume that since you had no issues with yours that people who have problems don't know what they are doing. Some of the statements you make in your review are nonsense. Perhaps you should understand how DDR2 works before you state that you can only put one stick per channel in.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi John,

Please be aware that the advertised spec is only advertised in the kits they are sold in. Thus we can only guarantee the rated speeds in it's 2x2GB kit or whatever kit it is sold in. This is how the kit was tested. Any addtional memory will cause extra stress on the memory controller. Please don't hesitate to contact support@patriotmem.com to see if there are any tips on getting your system running faster.

Regards,
Patriot Memory Support Team

4 out of 5 eggsMy bad on last review . . . 4x2GB

Pros: On last review -- all should read x2GB, not x4GB.

Cons: My bad.

4 out of 5 eggs4x4GB@1100@555-15 in XP&Vista64

Pros: Works as advertised. Don't have problems with stock speeds or timings.

Cons: Was hoping for more lattitude with overclocking. Both with 4x4G and 2x4G result was about the same -- max stable of 1120. Can get faster speeds but not fully stable under P95 and memtest.

Other Thoughts: Last posting was a little harsh; no need to deride people. But the exhortation to do simple research to solve their problems is very true. The answers -- or confirmation of REAL problems -- are <20 minutes away.
In my experience, many newer, *decent+* boards can get 1066 dual channel but will need some tweaking or experimentation -- not necessarily plug-and-play. At the very least you will have to go into the BIOS and activate the EPP. I have been able to get this memory running stable under memtest86+ and prime95(x64) at 4x4GB in Vista64, and that's not an easy task. The answers are out there; spend the time and do it intelligently, and you'll likely get it.

5 out of 5 eggs1066 ram works if you know how.

Pros: Works as its supposed to, timings are correct, runs 64bit XP like a champ with more than enough room for any of the games i run. those who are having problems with this ram read on.

Cons: ok for those who have problems with this ram, please. take some time to look in your motherboard manual at mem spd. most motherboards that support 1066 only support it on one stick per channel. so yes if you are dumb enough to put 2 sticks to a channel than you will be getting a blue screen of death. if you aren't getting the correct spd (IE. 800, or 533), typically your motherboard will not auto detect 1066. this is a firmware problem with your motherboard. just go into your bios settings and Change it to 1066. if it says 533 that is because your mem test or motherboard is reading it at actual DDR2 timings. you must understand the way ddr2 works for this to make sense, suffice it to say its working fine.

Other Thoughts: seriously people, i know not everyone has time to search around for these things, but take like 20 min to google your problem, googleing this came up with about 6 sites with these exact problems, and answers for them. so before you write a review. dead stickers keep writing. but remember, if it says its something typically its user error, not product.

3 out of 5 eggsMissing Flash drive

Pros: Good price! RAM works as expected.

Cons: Key for Vantage was included but no drive.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Anonymous
I am assuming that no disk with advantage was included. This is intentional as you download the software from the author's website and then activate it with the supplied key. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me directly.

4 out of 5 eggsNo Flash drive :(

Pros: Ram works as expected, bought to supplement another 4 gb of the same memory for a boost as I move over to Vista/7.

Cons: Didn't come with the flash drive as advertised! I got a key for Vantage, but no drive.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Dan
I would recommend contacting your seller and finding out what happened to your drive. The Vantage key offer was soon after the USB key offer.

3 out of 5 eggsODD ERROR

Pros: Normally great memory but having a strange issue with this set. Put it in a new build with a core2 quad on the Asus p5ql-pro. Separately they test out fine but together I cant count the failures there are so many I used memtest86 (which I truly am not a true fan of) as well as 2 other programs same results. Also I believe this to be the cause of blue screens and crashes in windows. Ran a burn in test and all the other hardware passed. Will test more and try to remember to post my results.

Cons: Not sure yet.

Other Thoughts: I am going to do a windows repair but since they fail before windows I can't imagine that will help unless the blue screen is a coincidence. As I stated both sticks test out 100% separate but fail together. Isn't this why we buy them is sets so we won't have this issue?

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Casy
I would re-install the chips and increase the voltage by the smallest possible increment until the errors disappear. The problem you described is indicative of insufficient voltage.
