5 out of 5 eggsNo Probs So Far

Pros: Very nice memory! Unfortunately, I didn't know this was going into a 32-bit system, so I've only used up to 2.75 GB but still, not problems so far...good buy as far as my experience

Cons: The design is a little weird, the tall spikes (which I'm assuming are to dissipate heat) catch cables when I'm working in the case from time to time, but nothing serious.

Other Thoughts: Ha...right

2 out of 5 eggsWorks, but not as advertised.

Pros: It works fine right now; then again, I'm not doing anything real intensive with it.

Cons: The timing, voltage, and clock speed was/is off. Not a big deal, it's simple to change and not entirely uncommon. But it won't change. I can change the voltage (it was at 1.5), but the clock speed won't go up (stuck at 1066) and the latency is, for whatever reason, stuck at 7-7-7-20. I would feel more comfortable having it at the suggested 9-9-9-24. Whenever I try and change it, the PC won't boot.

Other Thoughts: I never bothered checking the settings because I don't need to squeeze every ounce of power out of this computer. I just recently checked it out of curiosity, and I'm not thrilled that it's running at such a low clock speed.

But like I said, it's been running fine with what it's at, but that's probably because it's not being used for anything intense.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear mityman50,

Please don't hesitate to contact support@patriotmem.com if you need any technical assistance with the timings setup for your memory and system.

Sincere Regards,

4 out of 5 eggsGood and stable

Pros: It's not the fastest, but it is fast and (more importantly for me) stable. Running 8GB with my Phenom II 955 Quad and a Geforce GTX260...plays games great and crunches through video editing quite nicely.

Cons: None that I can think of, for the $$$.

5 out of 5 eggsFast, good price

Pros: Fast DDR3 1600 memory, fairly cheap. I just had to set the voltage to 1.8 volts instead of 1.5 and my ASUS motherboard took care of everything else.

Cons: You must set your voltage on your motherboard manually to 1.8 volts to get it to run at 1600

Other Thoughts: Buy it!

5 out of 5 eggsHappy

Pros: Purchased this ram primarily because it is low latency (CL7) DDR3 1600 Mhz whereas others are CL9. Last time I used Patriot ram was in a Shuttle SN25P system 4 years ago? That system was fast and reliable. I have since tried other manufacturers with limited luck (Crucial Ballastix, Kingston HyperX); those vendors ran good when not overclocked but did not overclock well with the motherboards I used.

I wanted to give Patriot a chance again and needless to say I am satisfied. I was skeptical the ram would run with the Intel motherboard (DP55KG) and successfully overclock but I was wrong there too. System has been perfectly stable from Day #1 and is extremely snappy. I plan on buying another pair to populate the system to 8GB.

Ram is warm to the touch needing no additional cooling.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: System specifications:

Core i7 860
Intel DP55KG
Gigabyte ATI 5850

5 out of 5 eggsComing back for more

Pros: Running ASUS M4A78T-E With AMD Phenom II 550. From all that I could find this was the best memory for this board/CPU combo. 1 year in and no problems. I am buying another 4GB to make the move to Win 7 64 bit.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I am feeding this with a PCP&C 700 watt PSU. I really think good clean power makes the difference, function and longevity.

4 out of 5 eggsGood enough.

Pros: Fast, gets the job done. Cooling appears to function properly.
System doesn't crash while performing burnin testing. (yay?)

Cons: Heatsinks interfere with the Thermaltake CLP0539 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106131
I did not want to alter the Heatsink to get seamless interaction, nor was there any other intelligent alternate method of installing the CPU fan.
Not on Asus' Vendor Qualified list, oh well. Works fine, I suppose.

Other Thoughts: Aside from the Mobo vertical realestate issue, I can only pin down my system problems to being either in my memory of that my HDDs are dying. All S.M.A.R.T. analysis point to the memory having an issue. Most possibly an incompatibility.
Only an issue on one system out of a twin system build. Passes MemTest86 flying colors.

5 out of 5 eggsNot a problem for me

Pros: Personally I think this is great memory as I have had no problems with it what so ever.
It does exactly what it is supposed to do and it runs very cool while doing it.
If anyone is having any problems with this memory maybe it is because their motherboard isn't so great.

Cons: None that I know of.
Except for the fact that Newegg raised the price.

Other Thoughts: The heat sinks on these are extremely efficient and well designed.

4 out of 5 eggsNo problems so far.

Pros: As others have said, the motherboard initially recognized it as 1066. Went into BIOS and switched it 1600 and it has been working fine since then. Seems to be very fast.

Cons: Other than having to manually set the speed, none.

Other Thoughts: It has a pretty nice heatsink on each stick. Time will tell whether it lasts but right now it's working great.

3 out of 5 eggsFollow-up

Pros: 1) This memory is still not very expensive.

2) I have learned what is meant with voltage ratings (required vs. what I thought was a max capability).

3) Patriot has offered an RMA for this defective set of sticks.

Cons: This set of sticks is defective.

No reason in the world to run 1600MHz DDR3 @ 1.8V when same-spec 1.5V is available for the same price right here on Newegg.

Other Thoughts: The third egg this time is for Patriot's efforts to help me with this memory and offering the RMA for it once it was determined defective.

I disagree with Patriot's interpretation of the JEDEC DDR3 voltage spec as a minimum. I understand it to be the standard (and specified) voltage for DDR3 memory. One of the main points of DDR3 was to lower power consumption vs. DDR2. Either way, my MSI DDR3-only board is designed around 1.5V memory (1.8V is possible, but listed as dangerously high) and that's what I choose to use.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear bulwnkl,
Seeing as this is your second post on this item for the same purchase I will not repeat my previous response but I will say that this memory is our performance line which can sometimes require more than normal configuration in your BIOS. It is meant for exceptional performance and speed. In the future, you may want to consider purchasing our signature line. It requires minimal configuration. I hope this allows you to purchase memory that is more in-line with your needs in the future. Again, if you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me at the email address below.
