2 out of 5 eggsOn my second RMA

Pros: Speedy Drives. Long Warranty

Cons: I purchased 2 of these to put in Raid 0, about a year later one of them went down. I contacted the manufacturer and they replaced it. Now both the replaced drive and the drive that had lasted longer are down. Will hopefully have them replaced once more.

5 out of 5 eggsI think I got lucky

Pros: Well, my grandfather got this SSD put into his rig, it crashed after a couple of weeks. We sent in the crashed one and got another one, I decided to use that one. So.....my PC boots in 10 seconds and hasn't given me a hassle, so I believe it's fine. For now.

Cons: Not proven stable.

Other Thoughts: Nice SSD.

4 out of 5 eggsfast

Pros: -fast (boot times, app loads, WoW, all that stuff is much faster)
-silent
-low heat/power
-TRIM support
-once setup, Win7 Ultimate installed and runs without a hitch

Cons: -many long patches to apply first
-have to apply patches as a slave drive on existing PC
-its pretty fast, but this SSD market is changing rapidly. Comparison shop with newer Sandforce controller drives for your best bang for buck.
-small HD capacity/cost, but expected for SSD

Other Thoughts: This tech is still kinda 'new', so you're paying a premium. If you can deal with the cost and flashing of the ROM several times, it's a fast drive and recommended. But this market segment is evolving rapidly, so do your research if you're looking for a good value SATA SSD drive. You really cannot go wrong with this unit, but if you're like me, you want the best bang for your buck, which is why I write that since I bought this several months ago.

1 out of 5 eggs3rd Failure

Pros: Its fast.

Cons: This is my third, yes THIRD Patriol Torqx hardrive that has failed. Avoid this company at all costs!

Other Thoughts: I orginally bought 2, 1 for my desktop (128) at the office and the other for my laptop. After paying my IT guy over $500 to reinstall everything, the drive failed after two days. I then returned it to the store and bought a 2nd one. I paid my IT guy another $500 to reinstall and this time it failed after 25 days. I then bought another brand that starts with I and ends with L. After calling Patriot, they told me they had a bad batch with the 128's. I believed them. However, after 6 months of use on my laptop 64g, it fails. Although they cooperated and told me they would replace it, the Patriot people have to understand the cost of having to pay an IT person to reinstall everything and the time and headache associated with all of this, not to mention the fact that you've got to call Adobe and Microsoft to reactivate your software because the licenses have been used. This company needs to make reliable harddrives or they will go out of business.

5 out of 5 eggsPure Speed

Pros: Loads applications faster than my Velociraptor. Boots Windows 7 64x in 28 seconds from post. Case temp is lower now. Firm Ware upgrade was simple.

Cons: Not sure the install of TRIM was successful.

Other Thoughts: I am very happy thus far with this drive. No issues, everything is just plain FAST now.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive w/ support to match

Pros: This drive is fast in RAID and by itself. It has TRIM software for windows vista and xp and native support in Windows 7 w/ firmware update.

Cons: Wish it was bigger..wish trim worked in RAID

Other Thoughts: I bought 2 of these for a RAID0 array. It was smoken fast till one died. The RMA process was super easy. Tech support was fast to reply to my emails. I recieved a brand new drive from patriot within 7 days after dropping it off at the post office. It's easy to love a company when things go well. But patriot still has a customer in me.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very fast. Bought two for RAID0 configuration.

Cons: 1 of 2 died in less than 4 months...

Other Thoughts: Don't rest on the thoughts that SSDs are "more reliable"... back up your data regardless.

Will RMA this drive, but i'm US Navy stationed in Japan, so i'm sure this will be an incredibly lengthy process...

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Furthermore we completely stand by our Torqx line of Solid State Drives and back it up with an industry-leading 10 year warranty. 1 out of 5 eggs2 out of 4 DIED

Pros: Its fast. quiet, small, no heat, light weight,

Cons: It died in less than 2 months.
The drive is not recognized in the bios.

I purchasded 4 of these. and 2 have died so far.

I don't understand why companies dont give their drives out to true power users(NOT gamers), to test out the drives before they are released. If you already did that, then it obviously was not enough of a test.

Other Thoughts: Return it back to the store and risk another bad one, or should I try RMA. I think I will RMA this one, lets see how they do.

My setup, in case some people can relate and have suggestions...

i7 with ASUS Pro mobo
12GB RAM
SSD 64gb(ONE THAT FAILED) OS Windows 7 84bit ultimate
SSD 64gb (For Photoshop Swap / drive still ok)
storage files all external on Intel SS

1 out of 5 eggsCorrupted File System and I'm not alone

Pros: It's fast, but so are almost all SSD's these days (fast enough anyway)

Cons: Corrupted File System issues seem to be a rampant problem with these drives, higher priced than other comparable SSD's with "lesser" warranties. Tried contacting twice for RMA or support and still waiting. I'm thinking I should have gotten the Intel or OCZ.. but we'll see how their RMA service is..

Other Thoughts: the 10 year warranty is quite possibly a gimmick, IMO... if they keep selling products that have issues like these, they won't be around in 10 years to make good on the warranty. Tried flashing to 1881 and 19-series firmware but still having File System corruption issues. Tried drive repair utilities and wouldn't work. Tried different ports on the motherboard, disabled ahci and enabled IDE mode, didn't help.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have casued you. We've discovered that there maybe be a bad batch of drives on the field. If you've rma'd the drive directly through us, rest assured that you should be receiving a drive from a different lot code and the latest firmware.

Rest assured that the 10 year warranty was added to give customers peace of mind as we completely stand by our products.

Kind Regards,
Patriot Memory Support Team
