3 out of 5 eggsNice flash drive

Pros: Large capacity, Brand name, Nice metal casing, Good speed, USB extension cable included.

Cons: Larger than usual flash drives, and very pricey. Can't use the USB port next to the one I plug this flash drive into, because the flash drive is too wide. However, Patriot includes a USB extension cable for your convenience. The cap is a real problem. I already lost the cap on my flash drive after a few weeks of use.

Other Thoughts: For people who need large capacity at a small size I recommend this drive. If you need to save money then go with a small enclosed hard drive instead.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: Small Form Factor

Cons: A Little Wide

Other Thoughts: I have a Macbook Pro 17" and if I plug this USB Flash drive into a USB slot, I can't use the one next to it because it's too wide. If I plug it into the middle of the three slots, I lose the two next to it. Easily fixed using a simple USB extension, but noteworthy. Has been fast, reliable and tethered to the body of the USB device rather than the cap. Outstanding for the $$!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive

Pros: This has been a great USB drive so far. Fast for USB 2.0 and very sturdy aluminum case. The drive is the same length and thickness as a regular USB drive but about twice the width. Still, it's easy to carry (I carry mine in my pocket to and from work every day) and I still haven't lost the cap.

Cons: I think that I will lose the cap eventually. Price.

Other Thoughts: I can't imagine why the prices are not dropping for the 128Gb and 256Gb USB drives. Other than a sale price for $169 at Christmas, this drive and others like it are staying at very high prices. I have less than 4.5GB of space remaining on this drive so I hope the 256GB memory sticks drop quickly from their $700 price point!

4 out of 5 eggsGood, Huge, Cap

Pros: 128GB in your pocket. It's HUGE!!!
Transfer Speeds. Are good. I see consistent 18-20MB/s speeds.
Metal Case is very sturdy.

Cons: It's HUGE. The metal case is physically much larger than most flash drives on the market.
The Cap. The removable cap for the USB plug detaches completely. You WILL loose it eventually. If you have a lanyard on the back of the drive you can't attach the cap to the back of the drive.
Transfer Speeds. 20MB/s feels very slow on a 128GB device.
Expensive (but that will change in time.)

Other Thoughts: I run portableapps from mine. It works great. Under heavy load it will get quite hot eventually.

2 out of 5 eggsNot Going Well

Pros: This drive was wonderful while it lasted. Great Speed, Great Capacity. Very promising, but flawed.

Cons: After 6 months the drive could not be recognized by any pc operating system, xp, vista32 or win7-64. From the first of several emails asking for help, Patriot has taken 3 days to "allow" me to "request" an RMA and promised such RMA within 3 more days .... so, after almost a full week, I receive the privilege of sending it's failed product back to them, at my expense??!! . I had relied, to my detriment, on the drive for critical work data and am lucky to have backed it up ....So far, my experience tells me Patriot doesn't seem concerned with expedicious customer service.

Other Thoughts: What had been a wonderful product experience is being ruined by Patriots lackadaisical approach to customer support and warranty response.

Can a supplier be so busy that it can delay honoring it's warranty, disregard customer satisfaction and think that consumers will return with future business?

5 out of 5 eggsHUGE!

Pros: Tons of storage space, fast for a usb drive of this size

Cons: Size, i thought that the cap was the size of the usb plug, but it is not. it is twice the size of a normal usb drive.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Device

Pros: SIZE. Speed (See "cons"). Recognized on multiple devices once formatted. Nothing much else, it is what it is, and it delivers.

Cons: not really cons, but could be taken as negative depending on your opinion:

A bit pricey, but will obviously go down as the technology becomes more common. Seeing as these aren't even carried in stores, I thought it was pretty reasonable, and rivaled prices of solid state drives of the same size (which often have trim issues and limited write-ability, read up on the reviews).

The speed is another iffy "con". I found myself disappointed when transferring gigs at a time until I moved files around on my actual hard discs (sata, 7200rpm or better) and realized the timing was fairly similar. I think we as users are much too familiar with smaller thumbsticks where transfers are instant (due to size of data), and use that as comparison, rather than the actual file size and something comparable, like hard disc transfer of the same file sizes. This drive is actually pretty up to par when put into perspective. When used in the car my pioneer head unit was able to read 15,000+ songs in >min

Other Thoughts: uses exFAT file system, so if you are planning on using this on systems other than computers (ie: car stereo with usb, surround sound with usb) make sure you reformat it to FAT32. partitions can go beyond 32gb in FAT32 as well, for those worrying about that, google it, there are tools. having your entire music collection in your car is a beautiful thing, especially without an ipod, using itunes, or a portable hard drive that will fail eventually from it bouncing around in your car. flash technology of this size opens up a lot of nice possibilities like the car audio scenario, or having a ton of your dvds converted to avi, for your home theater units with usb support. skipping menus, ads, disc loading, etc and just having movie after movie is a nice convenience. I've used these thumbsticks for both scenarios and they work great provided the hardware is capable of handling a storage device of that size, and that many files.
