5 out of 5 eggsUnfortunately, it's the best upgrade I've ever installed

Pros: If you want your MacBook to be FAST, this is the upgrade to have. All of a sudden, I own the computer I always wanted: Programs open (and close) instantly with no lag time whatsoever; battery life seems to be extended to the limits that Apple advertises in the first place (never happened before!); and there is considerably less heat coming off the laptop. Forget processor upgrades - this is better!

Cons: Only seemed to work with a fresh Snow Leopard install - cloning the previous drive would not really take (which took me 4 tries to figure out); and at these prices, you would think that Patriot would offer a bit more support for getting up and running.

Other Thoughts: It will only be a (short) matter of time before these drives get faster and cheaper; and I will be moaning about how much I paid for this.... So it goes. Remember that $2500 you had to spend for the 10 megabyte drive in the IBM PC XT?

1 out of 5 eggsMaybe it's just bad luck

Pros: Nice packaging and included 3.5 inch bay adapter.

Cons: Was never able to mount in my late 2008 Macbook Pro. Tried to use in my Pc however it indicated that it was a 128Gb drive instead of 256Gb. Unable to format, even the tools from patriot were unsuccessful in helping.

Other Thoughts: Rma was painless and given a refund instead. Ordered a crucial 256Gb and it was so easy to get it up and running in Macbook Pro. Great service as always from Newegg

5 out of 5 eggsSp33D

Pros: Easy as pie to install in a unibody 15" macbook pro, did a restore from a time machine backup and went flawless. Apps pop up almost before they can bounce once! some apps need a millisecond though lol. shutdown and power on are very fast and it has good storage size at 256GB

Cons: it wasnt free...

Other Thoughts: 15" macbook pro unibody, 2.66ghz, 4gig ram

5 out of 5 eggsPatriot Koi 256GB is a winner!

Pros: A snap to install in my Macbook Pro 17" unibody; easy to format (in t-drive mode by firewire cable from another mac); rock solid stability under Snow Leopard; lightning fast cpu start-up and application launch; utterly silent; high storage capacity for an SSD; shock-resistant.

Cons: What's not to love?

Other Thoughts: Not sure in what ways it was optimized for the Mac but seems like an excellent product. Almost certainly superior to the build-to-order 256GB SSD option from Apple, which costs $650. The Koi costs $699, plus I got to keep the 500GB SATA drive it replaced, which I used to upgrade another Macbook Pro HD.
