2 out of 5 eggsPoor quality RAM

Pros: *Good speed.
*Good price.
*I like the heat sink design.

Cons: *Poor build quality.
*Have had multiple failures.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this RAM for my computer back in 2011 when I was performing some upgrades. Unfortunately, one of the DIMMs was DOA. Newegg's eggcelent customer service policy took effect and I received the replacements quickly, however after about 6 months, another one of the DIMMs died. I decided to continue with only 2 of the DIMMs for some time until about 3 months ago when yet a third DIMM died. All in all, I will never purchase Patriot RAM again.

5 out of 5 eggsPainless

Pros: Plug them in and they work as advertised, no issues running with older OCZ with matched timings on second channel.

Cons: Heat sinks are taller than the ocz

Other Thoughts: I love reading reviews of "bad memory" or "Motherboards" because intel switched the channels on X58.

3 out of 5 eggsClose, but no cigar!

Pros: They worked out of the box, set XMP settings in my BIOS. Did some benchmarking etc. Worked great.

Cons: After a couple days my computer kept locking up giving me odd errors, so I downloaded Memtest86 v4.20 online and scanned my RAM. It found a few errors which made me /sadface.

Other Thoughts: In the end I just decided to just get a refund on the RAM because these were only a slight upgrade over my old set.

I used the saved money to upgrade to 2x Nvidia GTX 570's.

I'm sure this is great RAM, the benchmarks I ran before the RAM started acting up told me they were pretty good. I just decided to not go with the RMA to upgrade my graphics cards instead. ;P

Memory is fast, stays cool with the heat spreaders and fits great in the motherboard with no clearance issues. Great price, highly recommended.

Cons: No problems.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Memory

Pros: Run as advertised. Drop in, set timings and go. No issues what so ever.

Cons: None, runs perfect.

Other Thoughts: I purchased 12GB months ago from a different supplier. Super happy, but wanted more (24GB). Never had luck mixing two sets of ram. I use this rig for video/photo editing. So I purchased another brand of ram(24GB) all matched.
I was not happy with the speed of the new 24GB (Other Brand). So I took a leap of faith. order a second set of this 12GB to make 24GB. Not one problem. CPU over clocked to 4.0GHz on stock voltages. Ram at 1600MHz, 8,8,9,8,24,1T. Ran prime95 for 36hrs, no issues.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent RAM!

Pros: Bought 2, running 24GB

Extremely fast, extremely reliable, no problem with memory test! My computer can run for WEEKS with no problems. I eventually restart because of updates. 100% I'm running 100% memory with no page file!!!

Cons: I should have bought it sooner!

Other Thoughts: Great memory, runs extremely well under load. I'm talking gaming, rendering, whatever. Pop it in, XMP setting, and go!

5 out of 5 eggsGood value, good speed, good stability

Pros: It does what its advertised to do. It runs rock solid at 1600 MHz at just 1.6 volts. Exactly what it says it will do, for a very reasonable price.

Cons: Absolutely none.

Other Thoughts: Don't think twice. Just buy it. Seriously.

5 out of 5 eggsQuick!

Pros: These vipers are miles beyond what I was expecting.

12GB 8-9-8-24 timing made a lot of difference in my rig.

I'm coming from a try channel 3GB G-skill set up (9-9-9 timing) and have noticed a significant change in performance. Benchmarks are a few fps higher then before (Mainly Crysis 2, GTA 5, and BFBC2.)

Very slick heat sink design, definitely stands out a little more.

Cons: Not really a con but latency was set to 9-9-9 out of the box for me for some reason. No problem getting them to what they needed to be though through the bios.

(I wish they lit up? Can't seem to find a good led set these days :( )

Other Thoughts: Some people are a little confused as far as what the timing truly is with the Viper. I can tell from what I've received that you'll be getting the 8-9-8 version, not the 7. But very quick non the less.

Patriot Viper Xtreme 12GB
850W OCZ ZX series psu (Second Gen)
2x EVGA GTX570
Intel i7 920 OC at 3.2ghz

5 out of 5 eggsGot lucky!

Pros: Runs very smooth! Best part is, works VERY well with AMD systems!!! Been running it for about 4 months now without any problems!!

Cons: None yet.. wait until I attempt to overclock :P

Other Thoughts: When I originally found this RAM Newegg didn't mention that it was tested for Intel systems.. So I gambled and put it in anyways! Now it says it's for Intel, however... trial and error worked in my favor.. works GREAT for AMD systems too!
