Experience enterprise-class performance in your personal PC with the Patriot Wildfire series SSD powered by the latest SandForce SF-2200 processor. The Patriot Wildfire series shatters performance expectations with insanely-fast 500MB/s plus read and write speeds for ultra-quick responsiveness and instantaneous access to all your files and data. A SATA III 6.0 Gb/s connection interface enables the Patriot Wildfire series to achieve maximum performance without any bottlenecks while maintaining backwards compatibility with existing SATA II 3.0 Gb/s and SATA I 1.5 Gb/s interfaces. The versatile 2.5-inch form factor enables the Patriot Wildfire series to easily upgrade any desktop or notebook systems. An included 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch mounting bracket ensures desktop users can quickly slip a Patriot Wildfire series into your system for added installation flexibility.

  • newegg TRIM SUPPORT The Wildfire Series SSDs offer native TRIM support featured in the latest versions of Windows. It is specifically designed to maintain the performance of the SSD over the lifetime of the drive. The TRIM feature functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.
  • newegg GARBAGE COLLECTION This feature eliminates the need to perform erasure of the whole block prior to every write. The Garbage Collection process accumulates data marked for erase as "Garbage" and perform whole block erase as space reclamation in order to reuse the block. Essentially, Garbage Collection will defragment itself when it’s idle to maintain maximum life of the drive.
  • newegg SANDFORCE DRIVEN Driven by the second generation of SandForce SSD controller (SF-2281), the Wildfire Series is designed and built to unleash the full potential of the 6Gbps SATA III interface. The Wildfire pushes the limits in both sequential and random data transfer rates, significantly improving your productivity, gaming, multimedia, and overall computing experience.
  • newegg ECC (ERROR CORRECTION CODE) Utilizing ECC paired with RAISE (Redundant Array of Independent Silicon Elements), the Wildfire delivers an orders-of-magnitude improvement in drive reliability versus today’s best enterprise HDDs and SSDs. The result is single-drive RAID-like protection and recovery from potentially catastrophic flash block failures – all while avoiding the inefficiencies of traditional RAID.
  • newegg MAXIMUM IOPS The Wildfire drive delivers the maximum IOPS at 85,000 (4K random write) in the Patriot Memory SATA III lineup.
  • newegg MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE With enterprise-class performance, the Wildfire breaks ground with 555MB/s Read and 520MB/s write speeds. It’s ready to take on the most intense multimedia applications.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible product. Something is wrong with this SSD.

Pros: Great SSD when it's working.

Cons: Horrible corrupting monster of a pile of **** when it's blue screening you.

Other Thoughts: No firmware was ever released that fixed this affected chip set.

1 out of 5 eggsDied after 1 year

Pros: Used to be lightning fast, highest review scores all around.
Very cheap, beats all the competition

Cons: Suddenly dead a year later
It became unreliable much earlier, but I unfortunately didn't pick up on the signs; It'd BSOD during boot 10% of the time, but a restart always fixed it. The hibernation file got destroyed in the process by Windows. I lost a lot of work over the months. I didn't think to blame the SSD at first, I thought it was my OS' fault.
I was wrong to fall in love with Patriot Wildfire.

Other Thoughts: Buying a Samsung 840 EVO 2.5" 250GB as replacement tomorrow.
Having somewhat recent backups of most of my stuff saved me from a more serious burn.

Pros: Super fast and responsive.

Other Thoughts: Installed Windows 8 on this yesterday and has yet to crash.

1 out of 5 eggsdead

Pros: good thing it is discontinued

Cons: never worked right, stuttering. Did 3 firmware updates. Trim wasn't enabled.

Other Thoughts: Today another update released, 5.0.4 to enable trim. Patriot updater won't recognize the SSD. It did in March.
Tried on 4 different computers. This SSD has been sitting on the shelf for months, was going to do a build this week.
Looks like I am doing an RMA with Patriot.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

Pros: Super fast, easy to install and the price was decent. Also seemed to be the only HQ SSD that actually performs better on SATA 6 port even though it is a SATA III drive. Read that in the manual somewhere. Planning on getting another for raid 0 soon.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Remember to do a firmware update before you do a fresh install. Patriot has all the stuff you need. I just plugged into an existing PC w/SATA ran Patriot application and updated. It was simple have not had any issues... yet.

5 out of 5 eggsLong time user

Pros: Still going as fast as it did in July (when I wrote my first review).
Latest firmware update seems to have fixed all issues.
Little to no degradation in performance - have performed a fresh system install and now running 2 drives in JBOD in a laptop.

Cons: Writes are a little slower with the latest firmware compared to previous firmware - however very insignificant real world performance losses.

Other Thoughts: Purchased this drive in July 2011.

You must update your firmware in order to get the best of this drive.

Run update utility as administrator and in AHCI mode.
If your drive fails to show as updated, make sure you are running the drive in either sata0/1 ports. Also, don't use a Marvell controller to update the firmware.

AS SSD Benchmark (After fresh install)
Sequential Read: 500.72mb/s
Sequential Write: 168.07mb/s
4k Read: 15.71mb/s
4k Write: 57.75mb/s
4k-64Threaded Read: 173.14mb/s
4k-64Threaded Write: 133.94mb/s
Access Read: 0.22ms

4 out of 5 eggsPROBLEMS!!

Pros: Very, Very Fast
Windows boots in seconds

After updates this thing runs like a champ.

Cons: You must update firmware, either on another PC or before you reformat.

Other Thoughts: When you run the firmware updater, you MUST right click and run as Administrator or it will not find your drive.

I did not update firmware and caused big issues. You can install windows, but after reboot it crashes, and will not load.

Blue Screens, and a list of errors.

5 out of 5 eggsGood but Update the firmware ASAP

Pros: Fast, very fast did I say fast!

Cons: The firmware needs an immediate update or you may expierance some issues. The update solves all of that. Oh and don't forget to run the update as an administrator if you have UAC turned on in Win7.

Other Thoughts: I use two. One for the OS and one for games that I have a lot of reads. I relocated the user data to a velociraptor HD. Don't forget to use AHCI and turn off scheduled defrags for the SSD's.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Design == crashes, etc.

Pros: The drive really works nicely. No problems with setting it up and everything is quick and responsive. I would gladly give it 5 eggs, but...

Cons: IT WILL NOT ALLOW SATA CABLES TO LOCK!! Not sure what the intent was with the design - it seems like the locks are supposed to catch on the back edge of the top casing, but it is too thick and nowhere close to where it should be.

None of several different cables I have on hand will lock on this drive. I've rigged a couple things to hold the cable in place and it should be satisfactory. Would have returned it if I was within the RMA period.

Issues that I had that I later found this to be the cause of (SATA cable coming loose because clips hit edge of casing and eventually pushed out):
-lock ups
-no boot device detected
-drive no longer boots when reconnected
-second drive fried by bad data on SATA bus

I recommend buying a drive that is designed to fit locking SATA plugs correctly. And if you have one of these (especially if you have had any of these problems) - I urge you to take extra measures to secure your SATA cables.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear sk0t,

I'm sorry to hear that you had an issue with the sata port not allowing sata cables to lock. This is quite unusual to hear. Please don't hesitate to send me an e-mail and I'll be glad to initiate a replacement for your unit.

Thank you for choosing Patriot Memory!

Sincere Regards,
Patriot Memory Customer Support
