Powered by the latest SandForce SF-2281 processor, the Patriot Memory Pyro line will continue to expand on what's expected out of performance level SSDs. To meet the demanding needs of the power users and prosumer markets, the Patriot Memory Pyro will deliver blazing fast 500MB+ read and write speeds for the best in class performance.

The Patriot Memory Pyro utilizes a fast SATA III 6.0 Gb/s connection interface to reach its maximum performance without bottlenecks while still maintaining backwards compatibility with existing SATA II interfaces. Technologies like TRIM, DuraClass, and DuraWrite are included in the Patriot Memory Pyro Series to bring a full featured SSD to the performance class market.

With a very aggressive pricing strategy, Patriot memory has positioned the Pyro series SSD to offer one of the best price per performance ratios on the market. Backed by Patriot Memory's award winning build quality and 3-year warranty; the Patriot Memory Pyro series will deliver one of the most reliable choices in performance class SSDs.

  • newegg TRIM SUPPORT The Wildfire Series SSDs offer native TRIM support featured in the latest versions of Windows. It is specifically designed to maintain the performance of the SSD over the lifetime of the drive. The TRIM feature functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.
  • newegg GARBAGE COLLECTION This feature eliminates the need to perform erasure of the whole block prior to every write. The Garbage Collection process accumulates data marked for erase as "Garbage" and perform whole block erase as space reclamation in order to reuse the block. Essentially, Garbage Collection will defragment itself when it’s idle to maintain maximum life of the drive.
  • newegg SANDFORCE DRIVEN Driven by the second generation of SandForce SSD controller (SF-2281), the Wildfire Series is designed and built to unleash the full potential of the 6Gbps SATA III interface. The Wildfire pushes the limits in both sequential and random data transfer rates, significantly improving your productivity, gaming, multimedia, and overall computing experience.
  • newegg ECC (ERROR CORRECTION CODE) Utilizing ECC paired with RAISE (Redundant Array of Independent Silicon Elements), the Wildfire delivers an orders-of-magnitude improvement in drive reliability versus today’s best enterprise HDDs and SSDs. The result is single-drive RAID-like protection and recovery from potentially catastrophic flash block failures – all while avoiding the inefficiencies of traditional RAID.
  • newegg HIGH PERFORMANCE IOPS The Pyro drive delivers IOPS at 60,000 (4K random write).
  • newegg HIGH PERFORMANCE With enterprise-class performance, the Pyro breaks ground with 500MB/s Read and 475MB/s write speeds. It’s ready to take on the most intense multimedia applications.

2 out of 5 eggsProducts with bad support are bad products

Pros: I'm not an SSD expert but while this drive worked it seemed to work well.

Cons: Drive turned flaky and entered complete failure mode in less that 1 year of use. Fortunately I only ran the OS on it.

Other Thoughts: The Ugly: Drive failures aren't something to lose stars for typically, but Patriot loses them on the basis of dirt poor customer support. They've had my drive for very nearly a month (Shipper confirmed delivery on 5/6; it's now 6/9) and despite multiple contact attempts I haven't heard anything about the RMA. The silence from Patriot's RMA department is deafening and tells me a lot about how they value their customers.

Good product is only the beginning of a retail business. Customer support and honoring warranties are just as important, particularly on technical devices. Will not be buying any more Patriot products.

1 out of 5 eggsThis is Junk.

Pros: No "pros" - even the rebate is a rip, as they will do anything to deny it.

Cons: All cons. Be prepared to have gigs of your precious data sucked-up and dumped into the Nether World of a faulty product.

Other Thoughts: I should have known not to trust this 'company', once they denied the $20 rebate on the basis of 3 hours - their Pacific vs my Eatern Time Zone purchase date. Really? Some still wants to kill all future business in order to "save" $20 over the clock? Okay.

Not Okay: the 120 Gig drive was eady to install, easy to use for a week, but then got slower, slower, slower, and then became invisible after one, two, three, four, five, etc re-boots. After 4 months, it failed to start EVER, killing much data.

AVOID this unperfected bit of experimentation.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: No "pros", beyond a false sense of security when the first 2 weeks seem fast.

Cons: Should be a ZERO STAR rating. Buggy, ever-increasing sloth, data loss, and a final warningless death with all data dumped.

Other Thoughts: Starting with the denial and cheating of a $20 rebate over a matter of hours (Eastern vs Pacific Time. Really, Patriot? You would kill all fitire business because of this? Yes, you would.)

While installation of the drive appeared smooth, it was soon followed by an ever-increasing pattern: Boot, okay. Boot, problem, boot again. Boot, problem, boot again. Ang again. And again. And again again again again, AGAIN. Finally, it would neither boot or would my system even see that this worthless drive existed.

I would warn potential purchasers to use extreme caution, unless they don't care about losses of data.

4 out of 5 eggsFast

Pros: Fast as advertised. Although I do not really see the speed increase as I have upgraded from SATA 2 60GB to SATA 3 120GB and due to the issue mentioned below. Got it on sale for $99 after rebate.

Cons: - not sure if this is motherboard issue or not - when I use it with SATA 3 connector, the BIOS recognizes as IDE - even when I have disabled IDE card and SATA 3 port is configured to be AHCI. When I use it with SATA 2 port, it is recognized and works with AHCI mode. (I did use intel rapid storage driver prior to windows install)

5 out of 5 eggsDon't buy if you have AMD system

Pros: No problem with installation and drive has been very stable.

Cons: Running Win7 64-bit on AMD system and gretting R/W speeds of only 210/105. Tried to run firmware update and only get fail error message.

Other Thoughts: Patriot support so far hasn't even responded to online support request or phone call. Found thread on another forum that found out Patriot admits to a problem the drive has with AMD boards and to get firmware update (which may or may not fix speed problems) you have to RMA and have them do it. Wish I'd seen that forum before buying.

3 out of 5 eggsNot backwards compatible

Pros: Fast? I guess?

Cons: Fails to get recognized on any SATA-II port unlike my backwards compatible SATA-III HD.

Other Thoughts: Unable to format or clone since it's not recognized by the systems Disk Management service. I can still use it on the other computer but not on the HTPC.

1 out of 5 eggsPatriot 120GB MLC SSD

Pros: Very fast when first loaded.

Cons: It died after 6 months and I still have not been able to obtain an RMA from Patriot, even though I have made several attempts. If they do not stand behind their warranty, then I recommend you buy from a different manufacturer that does.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggspretty good

Pros: this thing is freakin' fast! boots from a cold startup to windows 7 64x in 25 seconds (depending on how fast i can type in my password). oh yeah, i got it on sale with a $40 rebate too. it's been running flawlessly for about 4 months now.

Cons: haven't found any yet.

Other Thoughts: i've read a lot of reviews of ssds failing prematurely and it makes me wonder if those drives were subjected to defragmenting? or if bios settings were set to recognize them?

2 out of 5 eggsDied after 2 months

Pros: Installation was a snap. Motherboard found drive on boot and so did the windows setup. Ran awesome for about 2 months.

Cons: No warning signs at all. Shut down pc one night all was normal. Turned pc on in morning and windows would just freeze on the windows start up screen. Could not repair or format drive after that. Out for RMA for now.

Other Thoughts: This is my first ssd. I have been waiting to buy one because of all the reliability issues. Apparently i should have waited longer.
