2 out of 5 eggsGood while it worked

Pros: Runs at rated speed with no issues

Cons: Stopped working after 1-2 months

Other Thoughts: I was playing Chivalry: Medieval Warfare when suddenly my screen went black. When the screen came back the game lagged horribly for about 5 seconds. The framerate then returned to normal but there were many 3D artifacts. Then I hit Alt+F4 thinking it was my video card and wanted to release the load from it. After that my computer bluescreened giving me a "Memory Management" error. So the computer turned off, and when it turned back on, there was no display. I tried resetting bios, reseating CPU, GPU.I brought it to my friend's and used his RAM instead of mine and boom! The computer booted up. So I won't be going with Patriot again

5 out of 5 eggsanother bad one...

Pros: Patriot USED to be reliable

Cons: So far I have sent back 3 sticks out of 8 purchased over the last 2 months. 2 of the bad sticks were this exact model, other 1 was the same part without the heatsink (PSD38G13332).

One stick was completely dead(no POST) other two sticks caused random lockups/BSOD and failed memtest miserably.

Other Thoughts: Don't know whats the story but it seems like over the last year Patriot has gone downhill.

Also noticed they are custom-branding the individual DRAM chips on the module, Are they using low-grade chips? Maybe I'm overly paranoid, but I would rather see the original chip-maker's logo/part#'s on the chips.

2 out of 5 eggscrummy experience

Pros: The colors are nice, if you're into that. It looks kind of like a harmonica. I bought this particular stick because it was the exact same price but with a heatsink. It seems to fit very nicely into the designated slots, and the stick doesn't seem flimsy in the least.

Cons: I haven't tested this particular stick for errors, but I've read the reviews of other people's and suspect that mine has the exact same issue. POST failure. Tried every slot on my motherboard. I triple and double verified that this stick is supposed to fit well within the specifications of the motherboard.
I think if proper testing for errors was done on all the sticks Patriot would have a very sweet deal.

All in all, I would probably still buy a Patriot product, but I'd do a little more research before hand to make sure the price isn't a sacrifice of quality and care.

Other Thoughts: I will update this review if the problem is with my motherboard and not this stick of RAM. I find that "every slot on my motherboard is malfunctioning" is too hard to believe with no other motherboard malfunctions..

Heatsinks on RAM are apparently not all that useful. The entire purpose seems to be for pretty builds!

I didn't call customer service either, so I can't comment on Patriot's customer service.

1 out of 5 eggsCaused Blue Screen UNTESTED memory

Pros: Was able to return

Cons: Desktop Ram caused blue screen. It took me a while to realize it was the Patriot RAM, as I was in denial not believing any company would sell BAD memory. I Googled a way to test the memory, and need to buy a test program. Program found 65635 errors with 32 bits in error. GIVE ME A BREAK. WHY did PATRIOT not find the error before selling????

Before I found a way to test the memory, I called Tech support and NEVER got a return call. I to filed a RMA and PAID the shipping to return BAD memory, which was NOT tested or it would not have caused Blue screen. I am now waiting for my memory to come back and will NEED TO test it again and I hope it will be ok.

If Patriot supplies a product that does not work they should pay for the shipping to fix THEIR mistake. Why should I be the person to test their product and pay to return it?

Other Thoughts: If Patriot supplies a product that does not work they should pay for the shipping to fix THEIR mistake. Why should I be the person to test their product and pay to return it.

I believe tech support does not return calls because they know they are selling untested memory and are overwhelmed with calls to return the memory.

I have no reason to buy Patriot memory, due to the POOR phone service and untested memory that was sold to me.

I am going back to PNY, which I have Never had a problem. PNY does answer the phone also.

1 out of 5 eggsPatriot does not test their products

Pros: Comes with a heatsink?

Cons: Does not function. Failed memory tests and constant crashes. A different 8GB module with same specs in the same computers I used to test it works flawlessly. Now I have to pay for shipping to RMA. Their RMA requirements say do not use a normal envelope. So now I have to pay for fancy shipping materials to ship their broken junk back to them. This has happened twice for me with Patriot memory.

Other Thoughts: Never again will I buy a Patriot product.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear santiagoanders,

I'm sorry to hear that you experienced some unusual bad luck with our memory. Rest assured that all of our memory is hand-tested and backed by a lifetime warranty. The reason why our RMA policy states to use a specific type of packaging is because we've seen cases where memory has fallen out of the envelope. If you have an existing case with us, please e-mail us: RMA@Patriotmem.com and we'll be glad to expedite your case.

Sincere Regards,
Patriot Memory Technical Suppport

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well with Ivy Bridge I5

Pros: Nice, solid piece of RAM for a Core i5 3.2 system (with Intel motherboard). No issues out of the box, got four of them working (32GB) without a hitch.

Cons: Package is always fun to open, but nothing an exacto knife won't handle.
