5 out of 5 eggsUpdate to review (should've been for DDR3 1600)

Pros: I apologize to everyone. I meant to review the DDR3 1600 Patriot Viper RAM. I read the serial number on this wrong and posted the review here. I asked Newegg to cancel my post, but voila... there it is.

Cons: none (other than my inability to read) :)

Other Thoughts: i7-3770k with stock cooler
P8Z77-V Pro
Patriot Viper 3 DDR3-1600 16GB (2x8GB)
PNY GTX 560ti (yep, need a new card, but BF3 still looks and runs great)
WD Black 1TB 7200rpm
Mushkin Enhanced 800W power supply

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: I got these at the same time I picked up my Mobo (Asus p8z77-v pro). Asus' QVL is not up-to-date and these were not on it, but the Patriot site said they would work. I worried a tad about that, but they work perfectly.

I was also worried about 1 or both sticks being DOA. I ran Memtest (both together and each separately for 8-12 hours) without a single error.

Some reviews of various RAM I read complained/commented the RAM registered as 1333 instead of 1600 on install. I didn't have that problem. The first time I fired up the new system the mobo had the RAM set with the proper timing, speed, and voltage.

For what it's worth, it scores a 7.8 on WEI.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsBought locally

Pros: Very stable ram. Currently running them at 2400mhz loose timings at 10-12-11-33 2t @ 1.725v. Havent played with the timings very much except i cannot get them stable at 10-11-11-33. Maybe if i wait another few weeks they will be able to take tighter timings or faster speed.

Cons: None at rated voltage/timings. Needs to be broken in to get it running at the speeds I'm currently at. Took a week running it at 2133 then i pushed it to 2200 then to 2400 after about a month. Out of the box it was NOT stable at 2200mhz.

Other Thoughts: Ivybridge 3570k @4.7ghz
ASRock z77 extreme6
EVGA GTX 670 FTW edition oc'd to 1202 core and 3649 mem
All on air :D

4 out of 5 eggsPatriot Viper 3 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000)

Pros: Installed easily, works (almost) as expected (see below)

Cons: The BIOS of my motherboard shows the ram clocked as 1600 not 1866 as I expected but perhaps there is a setting a need to change? I could set it to 1866 in my BIOS but I figured it would be set to that on install.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!

Pros: Installed easily, looks good too.

Cons: BIOS only recognized 1600mhz. But I think that's either a factor of the Motherboard or CPU.

Other Thoughts: I changed the DRAM Frequency to 1866Mhz, BIOS accepted the change but Windows 8 wouldn't boot. I was finally able to get Windows to accept the 1866Mhz by manually entering the DRAM timing and voltage into BIOS. The 4 timing numbers (10-11-10-30) went into the BIOS values for tCL, tRCD, tRP, and tRAS, everything else left at auto. Then I set the DRAM voltage to 1.515v (There was no option for 1.5v in my BIOS) Windows booted right up after that.
