3 out of 5 eggsGreat While Functional

This review is from: Patriot 32GB Tab Flash Drive Model PSF32GTAB3USB

Pros: This drive performed great for all my uses, I mainly used this drive for file storage. I keep a few diagnostic tools on this device and personal documents for college. It writes quick and is small ebough and sturdy enough that i can put it on my keychain wihtout worry.

Cons: I purchased this drive on 09/25/13 and as of 02/23/14 this drive has failed. Luckily i keep backups of my flshdrives or I would have been very upset at the sudden file loss. This drive is recognized in windows as a drive with 0 bytes of storage. I have tried formatting in Windows, OSX and Linux with different ultilities and they have all failed. I am very dissappointed at the longevity of this flashdrive.

Other Thoughts: This was my first Patriot Memory purchase and eventhough it failed I was still happy with the perfomance of the drive while it lasted. I just hope none of their other flash memory producs have such a short life span.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little USB Flash Drive

This review is from: Patriot 32GB Tab Flash Drive Model PSF32GTAB3USB

Pros: Utilized with Raspberry Pi and Raspbmc to run an XBMC Media Center off of it. Has sped up the Pi considerably. Menus and other operations are so much better after switching to this for primary storage.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I have two of these set up to stream movies from my NAS. Going to probably get a third for an additional TV.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Patriot 32GB Tab Flash Drive Model PSF32GTAB3USB

Pros: Small form factor
Can be plugged into a laptop's USB port and forgotten until needed

Cons: Runs hot
Not true USB 3.0 speeds

Other Thoughts: Overall satisfied with this purchase since I was looking for a flash drive which I could plug into my laptop and forget about. I am slightly concerned with how hot it runs and hope it stays reliable.

3 out of 5 eggsGood drive, if it works.

This review is from: Patriot 32GB Tab Flash Drive Model PSF32GTAB3USB

Pros: Fast, small

Cons: Started to die after about a month, and failed after about 2 months

Other Thoughts: The drive started to suffer intermitent failures shortly after the return period was up and died after 2 months. Thata a lot of money to waste like that.

2 out of 5 eggsGood Read, Poor Write, Horrible Software

This review is from: Patriot 32GB Tab Flash Drive Model PSF32GTAB3USB

Pros: Extremely compact design.
Respectable write speed.

Cons: Undersized hole - doesn't fit on most keychains.
Very poor write speed.
Required firmware update with very poor software.

Other Thoughts: Tested with Crystal Disk Mark 3.0.2
- Sequential Write (1000MB): 10.84 MB/s
- Random Write (412KB): 0.647 MB/s
- Random Write (4KB): 0.035 MB/s
- Sequential Read (512KB): 148.9 MB/s
- Random Read (512kb): 127.9 MB/s
- Random Read (4KB): 9.958 MB/S

Very sleek and compact - too compact in some ways. A hole that's a tiny bit larger could actually accommodate a normal keychain. The drive required a firmware update, and the software was very amateurish and not intuitive. When you're updating firmware, you really don't want to "cross your fingers" and hope that it knows what it's doing (especially since it reported a 16GB drive as a Toshiba 8GB).

5 out of 5 eggsPatriot TAB Flash Drive 32GB

This review is from: Patriot 32GB Tab Flash Drive Model PSF32GTAB3USB

Pros: I have the Patriot TAB 16GB and 32GB USB flash drives. I have found although they are USB 3.0, one they have slower write speed that others, reads about the same other 3.0 drives. Two they will not work with all USB 3.0 controllers, some work others don’t. I did not check the USB 3.0 controller types, but be aware. They will get hot with prolong use, reading or writing. Also realize USD drives have no wear leveling as there flash hard disk replacements do. So you can easily wear out USB flash drive by using it as a boot drive for prolonged periods of time. What is sad is that the area that holds the partition table wears out and basically the rest of the drive in ok, but yet unusable. Don’t bet the bank on a flash drive, you will loose! I hope this info is useful to Newegg buyer.

Cons: Write Speed

Other Thoughts: If you are the type of person that misplaces small things offend, this USB Flash drive might not be for you.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper tiny, slow write, but fast reads

This review is from: Patriot 32GB Tab Flash Drive Model PSF32GTAB3USB

Pros: Super fast read speeds. Average 80mbps with USB 2.0, and 150mbps with USB 3.0.

Cons: Slow write speeds, but knew that purchasing it. 10-15mbps on USB 2.0 or 3.0.

Other Thoughts: Be sure to update the firmware from Patriot after you receive it. ALSO, I had issues even with the new firmware (was disconnecting while copying). I reformatted to NTFS instead of FAT32, NO issues since.

The drive fits on my key-chain ring, but not a larger ring, a smaller ring is needed. Be sure to find or pick up a small ring to attach it to, else it will stick out or not fit.

Seamlessly hidden on my key-ring, makes for easy data travels and you will never forget your drive at home since you most likely drive a car and need your keys to start it unless your a car thief of course.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat while it lasted

This review is from: Patriot 32GB Tab Flash Drive Model PSF32GTAB3USB

Pros: Read and write speeds were great whether in USB 2 or 3 ports. The case is small, attractive, and it appears deceptively durable.

Cons: Lasted a month and a half. Completely dead.

Other Thoughts: Bought this to replace a an older Kingston Datatraveler 101 that had survived two years of daily use and abuse on my keychain without a single glitch. I've had good luck with Patriot memory on my computer, and the design looked durable, so I picked it up at the end of June. I should have known that it would have problems, because from Day 1 it would get really hot when moving data back and forth. Still, it worked without a problem until early August, when I plugged it into my computer one day and found it blank. No partition, no data, no nothing. Testdisk couldn't recover the original partition, neither Photorec or any of my other utilities could pull any data from the drive, and even worse, nothing can put a partition back ON the drive. There are unrecoverable write errors when attempting to create a new partition, which means the memory itself is shot. After having such great luck with my previous drive, this short lived experiment has been a bit of a disappointment.

Patriot claims this has a 5 year warranty. Since I'm outside of Newegg's return window, I guess I'll find out how serious they are about it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, Tiny, Strong

This review is from: Patriot 32GB Tab Flash Drive Model PSF32GTAB3USB

Pros: Small
Lightweight
Solid body construction
32GB
USB 3.0

The loop on this thumbdrive is built in to the body and is solid metal so there is no need to worry about some cheap plastic breaking.

For a drive that is not sold particularly for its speed, it does have some impressive numbers, even in a USB 2.0 port it seems to perform better than some other flash drives that I have (I have MANY flash drives)

Cons: No lanyard included.

Other Thoughts: I purchased my drive at a retail store with some store credit that I had for about the same price as what NewEgg is offering.

I am an independent consultant and I deal with different data for different clients. I keep physical backups of projects for specific clients. Currently I am using microSD cards which are fragile and lack speed. I am seriously thinking of switching to these because of the speed and rigidity. Also the data stored ranges from <1gb to ~20gb depending on the project so these would be perfect.
