I don't see why not.  It works fine in Windows 7 64-bit with no problems.  Your motherboard must have a eSATA and a internal USB connection in order for the Reader to work properly.  If installing on a new system.  Connect Reader AFTER the OS is fully installed.  Or else removable drives will be mapped before the System drive.

Does this card reader have mounting holes on the bottom as well as the side?

Since I'm so pleased with NEWEGG products and all the wonderful savings that I get from their specials, I took the time to open the pc and look this up for you and yes it does have 2 mounting holes about 2 1/2 to 3 inches from the front of the case... Please ensure that you try the screw first by hand to see how far the screw will go in before it stops so you don't damage anything in side..... Sincerely Melvin

how do i install in the front (external) bay drive (5.25) since it doesn't even fit?!

To be honest, they listed above in my email to help you, as a 5.25" size card reader, but I have the very same part # & it is actually 3.5" unit. I had absolutely no problems at all with my install. How much difference are you experiencing? I know that it is a term of 3.5", but every single manufacturer will leave a minor amount of tolerance for fitment in all kinds of other manufacturers from around the world. My case is a Thermaltake, & I have had many brands in that front bay, including this from Rosewill, & they all fit, some a tad narrower, but once you tighten up the screws or retainer, its so minor that I've never experienced an issue. To be honest, I've never had issues with even the tool-less retainers of holding it in place. This is going to fit best where most case manufacturers are placing their front I/O connections, like mic, speaker, USB Ect. And those panels are generally 3.5". My case just happened to have a 2nd 3.5" bay with a block off plate. If you are placing it in a 3.5" bay & it's a little narrower, just place a thin rubber washer & that should cure a narrow issue. If your attempting to install this in a 5.25" bay, it can be done, but for it to fit correctly and look nice & correct, you will need to get an adapter. They are kinda difficult to locate, but they are out there. I wish I could help more, but I'm kind of flying blind because I don't know exactly what the entire issue is for you. OKAY WHAT DO I HOOK THE 20 PIN 3.0 USB INTO MY MOTHER BOARD DOES NOT HAVE ANY 20 PINS ON IT.. WHAT CARD CAN I GET THAT HAS 2 20 PINS ON IT PLEASE?

Hello - first there is no 20 pin connector on this 3.5" card reader / USB port.

You have a SATA (red wire) and a 5 pin black connector for USB to your mother board.  It is the 5 pin connector with the black wire that you connect to your mother board.

On your motherboard there should be (in white writings) a designation for USB.  This depends on the type of mother board you have as well.

The SATA red wire gets connected to your motherboard's SATA port.  You may have to also go into your BIOS to turn this particular port on.

There are three (3) cables.  If you examine third image on the Newegg product description and move you mouse over the cables an enlargement window will appear.  A SATA mother board connector, a Molex power sower supply connector, and a duel USB mother board connector.  Hope this was helpful

I don't know, I only used it for the USB port. I do not recommend this card reader it stop working after 3 months of use.
