5 out of 5 eggsFit easily and provides lots of connectivity

Pros: Lots of USB ports, fits easily into case

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I have read several reviews from others complaining about ports going dead so I bought the three year replacement warranty for $8 as a safeguard. It installed easily, has the proper USB 3.0 cable and connector and more connectivity than I will use (eSata and card readers). Gives me 4 more USB 2 ports and 2 more USB 3 ports on the front of the case so I should be set for as long as this new build holds up (fingers crossed).

5 out of 5 eggsNice build quality and blends well into Corsair case

Pros: -Metal drive bay case feels solid and was easy to position just right into a Corsair 200R case
-Rosewill ports are lined up evenly in the cutouts in the front of the bay. Other reader brands can have ports that haphazardly placed in the bay cutouts... and it looks cheap. Not this one.

Cons: -SD card reader is USB 2, not 3.

5 out of 5 eggsOne year review, Rosewill RDCR-11004 - Data Hub for 5.25" Drive Bays

Pros: Easy install, fit fine in my mid-tower. I have had this item for a year now and it has not failed. I use the USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, and the SD and Micro SD ports. While doing video editing I plug an external 3TB 3.5 inch drive into a USB 3.0 port on this Data Hub. This drive contains all of the raw GoPro or Panasonic HD video data. Edit the video and make the project on the internal computer drive. Works just fine and seems to be fast enough. I believe it is just as fast as if I had all the raw data on the computer's internal drive. It may even be faster since the raw data is coming from a separate drive, freeing up the computer drive to make the final product. This device/hub just makes it easy to plug in whatever I need to get the job done.

Cons: None so far. After one year it is still working fine. After reading some reviews here I was worried that this device was causing some crashes but later learned that some unnecessary motherboard software monitoring/tweaking/upgrading programs were causing the crashes (Win7 & G-brand motherboard). My latest crashes were from inadequate case ventilation during video editing (opened case, cpu temps dropped 10C, editing worked great). Learn from my mistakes :-) I will update if I find any issues with this device in the future.

Other Thoughts: My computer is somewhat of a home theater system, hooked up to two TV's, a 46 lcd (hdmi) and a 55 plasma (DVI to HDMI cable). This device has run wireless headphones, keyboards, mice, flatbed scanners, etc. Because all the USB ports are next to each other, as they should be, I discovered that some wireless USB dongles (?) can interfere with each other, reducing their range or impairing their function. The USB extenders that come with these wireless USB devices can be useful at times. So instead of plugging all of them into the front for these long-term USB devices, plug them into the back with the extender cables. This will leave this hub's ports open for other things.

5 out of 5 eggsHelped me more than I ever thought it would

Pros: - Reads all types of cards the average person is likely to ever run into
- Front panel USB 2 and 3 and esata is a huge plus, they come in handy more than I ever thought
- No need for size adapters

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I never thought I'd need to use any microSD cards but now I have had to and this backed me up, inserted the card and this worked as expected, no pesky adapters or anything

3 out of 5 eggsCompactFlash Pins bent on second use

Pros: Purchased this for my wife's photography PC build. Worked fine for 10 months. Mainly used for SD card photo Xfers from SD Extreme pro SD Cards, and it was good for that. Thought she would use the USB ports a lot, but the front panel i/o had many USB 3.0 ports, and the ones on the card reader never got utilized.

Cons: Used the card reader since February when we setup our build. Purchased a CompactFlash card for our Canon Mark III this month. Used it once, and it seemed fine. Used it a second time, and all the pins on the left side were bent in multiple directions. Never forced anything, it is just the quality/placement of the pins that resulted in the damage. Couldn't get them back in the correct position after playing around with them for over an hour with needle nose pliers, and a mini flat head screwdriver.

Other Thoughts: Wish I had gone with a different reader as I noticed other reviews about the CF, but it was hard to judge our needs early on for one. Will be looking for a reader with a more durable CF port, or something for a temporary fix to transfer from the new card.

2 out of 5 eggsNo Longer Works

Pros: It worked fine in an older machine....until it stopped working.

Cons: This has been installed in an older XP machine. It has been in the machine for less than 2 years, and the SD card reader no longer works. Yes, that's an older machine, but the drive itself is relatively new, and I wouldn't say that it was overly taxed. It may have been used once a week, if that, by an experienced user that would not abuse it.

4 out of 5 eggsUseful little device, wish the card reader was USB3

Pros: Large number of available USB ports and card slots. Also, has eSATA! Fit my needs nearly perfectly (see cons). Made of charcoal grey metal, not cheap plastic, so it feels like it's got decent build quality.

Cons: The card reader is hubbed off of the USB2 port, not USB3. That cost an egg, since a USB3 card reader would've made this 5 egg perfect.

Other Thoughts: The fit and finish of the product is mostly perfect, but the screw holes in the side were tapped just a little too far back (about 0.5mm) so it doesn't mount perfectly flush in my case, where all other devices did.

If you're one of those build perfectionists, just know that you may run into that. If your case has both predrilled holes *and* long slotted holes, use the latter here and then you'll be fine.

2 out of 5 eggsRosewill RDCR-11004 - Data Hub for 5.25" Drive Bays - Two USB 3.0 Ports and Main Connector, Four USB 2.0 Ports, eSATA, Internal Multiple Card Reader

Pros: Fits into space available. Has enough ports.

Cons: USB 2.0 ports constantly disconnect and reconnect and presently do not work. Cabling takes a lot of space inside case. USB 3.0 cables are stiff so USB 3.0 plug easily pulls out of motherboard while installing or working inside computer case. Card slots not labeled.

Other Thoughts: USB 3.0 ports have worked reliably since installation 14 months ago, July 2014. SD card slot always seems to work well. USB 2.0 ports worked for a couple of days after initial installation but then stopped and have not worked since. USB 2.0 subsystem or some part of it constantly disconnects and reconnects (several times per minute) so I had to turn off system sounds. I only need to use one or two USB ports and the SD card slot so I kept it, but it would have been nice to have a fully functioning unit.

2 out of 5 eggsSD card reader failed

Pros: Bought this unit for a new build 3-30-15. Has worked just fine until today.

Cons: The SD card reader just up and failed. Will not read any card at all. Now I have to buy another unit because the warranty is up. Humbug! As far as I can tell the rest of the unit works (USB ports, etc) as it should. I don't use any other card reader than the SD so I don't know if they're working or not. Well, off to buy another unit.

1 out of 5 eggsUSB 2.0 Card Reader

Pros: cheap

Cons: cheap. Card reader uses USB 2.0 which kinda sucks because I don't have USB 2.0. The CF card reader is also ridiculously shallow which would have probably resulted in broken pins.

Other Thoughts: If you live in the year 2000, this product is for you!
