    3 out of 5 eggsGlitchy!

Pros: Being a multi-card reader, it reads multiple types of cards. The 2.5" HDD slot is extremely useful!

Cons: The MicroSD slot must be used with caution. If inserted wrong the card will get stuck in the reader, and is difficult to remove. Furthermore, this can feed power back to the motherboard when installed in specific USB headers. I find that trying a different header usually works.

    1 out of 5 eggsJunk

    Pros: None

Cons: Bought this to replace a rosewill card reader in my personal system. Wanted the 2.5” drive slot. The old card reader worked fine. This one Crashes my system when anything is plugged into the slots. I have tried it in both USB positions on my motherboard. I have also tried with and without the molex power connector connected. Cost more to ship back than worth.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy!

    Pros: It occasionally reads cards.

Cons: The card reader function only works half the time. As for HDDs and SSDs, it can't read either one! The worst part is that if you plug the molex into this card reader your fans and motherboard is constantly running, even when the computer is off! Never had that happen to me before with any other device.

    2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: i like the fact that the ssd/hdd part does not take up a sata port and that it takes a mini sd card.

Cons: the power cable sends feed back to the mother board not letting it turn on. i see that other people don't plug in there power cord to it and the ssd wont work, well for some odd reason my ssd is working fine and the power is not connected to the device, i haven't had this for a month and the sd reader took a dump !! i just opened a rma for it. i wish more work effort went into making this!! i cant even find another brand that makes one like this !! ..

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth it

Pros: The card slots work, sometimes. Rosewill has offered to make it right (haven't seen them yet, but they offered)

Cons: If plugged into USB header on motherboard it creates some odd power feedback loop. In theory, if you unplug the USB header attachment, the card reader should still work, but the key feature, the SSD mount will not.

1 out of 5 eggsFeeds Power Back into the Mobo

Pros: The traditional card memory slots work.

Cons: Backfeeds power into the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: The card reader requires power from a Molex connector for the SSD slot to work. Do NOT plug in the Molex connector to the power supply. It will backfeed power into the motherboard. The fans will spin and the light will come on even when the PC is turned off (but plugged in into an AC outlet).

1 out of 5 eggsStay away - Feeds Power Back into the Mobo

Pros: Cheap. Non-powered card slots work. I guess it earns 1 star even though it should not.

Cons: Feeds power back into the motherboard. Do not plug in the Molex power connector!

Other Thoughts: The reports below are true. It feeds power back into the motherboard when the PC is plugged in but off. Fans spin up and motherboard lights light up.

If you already have one and can't/don't want to return it, this is how to stay out of trouble: Just use the memory card slots that don't require external power. The SSD slot requires a Molex power connector to operate. Do not plug it in. Just don't use that feature.

4 out of 5 eggsIt is what it is

    Pros: -It works
    -it was insanely cheap
-and its not an eyesore of endless usb ports (that most card readers seem to be these days) that I'll never use cause I already have tons of them.

The hdd tray is snug and drives go in and out easily so far without issue.

Ive only had this a day but everything seems to work just fine so Im pleased with the purchase.

Cons: Like some have said, the faceplate is flimsy (at best) and didn't fit into the bracket I bought to make it fit into one of the 5.25 drive bays. It was a little too large but with some dremeling I ground it down to just the right size and everything seems to work fine.

It gets a minus 1 egg for the lack of quality in the faceplate but otherwise it seems okay.

Other Thoughts: Someone mentioned in their review something about power feedback and Ive got to imagine he plugged the usb connector into a nonusb motherboard plug and was having feedback issues because of that.

In my motherboard manual it mentions not plugging the usb into one of the nonusb connectors on the board cause it will cause damage to your board so I gotta think thats what was wrong on their issue.

Aside from having to do some minor surgery to get the faceplate to fit into the bracket with a little minor sanding this was a breeze to install and so far works fine. Honestly for $7 shipped it was worth taking a chance on cause I have a handful of old laptop drives that I can just throw in the slot and use for whatever whenever so Im pretty happy with it. Also it reads micro sd cards without a usb adapter which is awesome cause I can throw my phone msd in there and bam! works like a charm.

This isnt a high quality item for sure but like I said, for $7 shipped it was worth taking a chance on. If it only last a month I wont be out much and will then start looking at some other readers, but for now this does what I need it to do so Im happy.
