5 out of 5 eggsMushkin Quality

Pros: I subject Mushkin memory modules to extreme conditions on units that I repair and complete and Mushkin delivers. I have only had one bad memory module in the 7 years I have been using them exclusively fir my customers

Cons: There are no cons - I have called Mushkin directly and they are happy to help me every time.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks!

Pros: Put these in my Dell Latitude E5410 and they're working just fine. My memory usage at 4GB was always pegging at 75%, now there's breathing room!

Cons: No cons so far!

Other Thoughts: Wish they were up in speed a bit, but otherwise I got a good price on these.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: None

Cons: Arrived DOA. Rather than spend $10 + a few weeks to RMA, I bought some RAM locally. I'm currently processing a refund with Newegg.

Other Thoughts: I get that DOAs happen, but it's unfortunate when you have to spend 1/5th the price of the product to obtain working hardware.

1 out of 5 eggsSerious QA problems

Pros: It was cheap?

Cons: First pair of DIMMs seemed to work fine at first in my Late 2011 MacBook Pro, but then I started getting kernel panics after a couple of days. Hardware Test found one of the modules to be faulty; swapped it out for an original DIMM and passed Memtest at 6GB. A couple of moths later, the kernel panics came back. Hardware Test found an error in the other Mushkin DIMM; put both of the original DIMMs back in and passed Memtest no issue. Tried each Mushkin DIMM in another ASUS laptop; wouldn't even boot with one, other failed memtest. Arranged for an RMA with Mushkin, who wouldn't pay return shipping. $6 and over a week later, one of the DIMMs is bad out of the box - neither laptop will boot with it installed. Other passes Memtest (for now) but Mushkin won't let you RMA just one of the modules. Another week on 4GB and another $6 down the drain; if those are still bad it would have almost been cheaper to just buy a whole new kit from another vendor!

Other Thoughts: I have NEVER had an experience this bad with RAM, and from what was once a reputable company no less. I know the margins on DRAM are lower than ever, certainly QA should at least make sure the things boot? This is why OCZ is going under, guys.
