Stated timing is incorrect

Pros: Good price for the stated timings, but...

Cons: The specifications shown at newegg and mushkin.com say the timing is 6-6-6-18, as does the sticker on the modules. However, the SPD values shown in BIOS are 9-9-9-24. mushkin support has yet to respond.

Other Thoughts: I have not yet run memtest at the advertised timings, so it *might* work. However, the SPD should contain the advertised specification. It should not be necessary to set manual timings to reach the specified timings.

Bad bit in one of the DIMMS

Pros: The memory was packaged well with a nice looking heat spreader. The price is reasonable for this speed.

Cons: One bit in one of the DIMMs failed Memtest86+ 4.00 in test #7 though thankfully Newegg replaced it quickly. If it were not for the bad bit I would have given it 5 stars.

Other Thoughts: I don't know if it's the memory or my Asus P6T Deluxe 2 motherboard, but my motherboard sets it up as 9-9-9-20 when the memory says it's 8-8-8-18. I have not tried overclocking yet.

I recommend everyone who puts together a new system download and run Memtest86+ overnight to stress test the memory subsystem.

Excellent deal

Pros: Great memory for the i7 platform. Very fast for real world (as opposed to benchmarking) usage. With timings of 6-6-6-18, it performs better and at a lower cost than the vast majority of higher frequency (but slower latency) memory.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: There are several RAM test articles out that indicate CAS latency has a larger impact on overall performance than frequency. Two side-by-side tests show that DDR3 1333 with a latency of 6 outperforms DDR3 1600 with a latency of 7 when using real world apps and in gaming. Since benchmarking doesn't provide much beyond synthetic results, I'll go with what makes an actual difference in practical usage.
