5 out of 5 eggsRe: Macbook Pro - Didn't work out

Pros: None, this is a reply.

Cons: None, this is a reply.

Other Thoughts: @Tim who said the Mushkin RAM caused his computer to overheat: this probably happened because you computer doesn't support 8GB. You may have OSX 10.6 or later, but the BIOS and/or MOBO of the Macbooks that use the PC2 RAM is limited to 4 or 6GB, where yours sounds like the model limited to 6GB (2 + 4). So in consideration to Mushkin, this case was probably one of user error, not hardware error.

1 out of 5 eggsMacbook Pro - Didn't work out

Pros: It doesn't look like you can edit your reviews.

I was the guy that put the RAM in my Macbook Pro. The RAM worked better then what I was reading. I didn't have any video flickering.

Cons: I had constant overheading. Within just a few hours my computer would sit pegged at 200+ degrees when it normally hovered around 160.

My machine needed a restart a few times a month. With the new RAM in, I was restarting at least twice a day.

I put my old RAM in (2x2GB) and my computer is back to normal. I have RMA'd this RAM.

Other Thoughts: I didn't mention it in my previous review: I'm running the Macbook Pro 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo.

1 out of 5 eggsdidn't work

Pros: does not appear to be fully compatible with Lenovo T61p

Cons: After reading another review I got this kit for my T61p (6549), but it did not work. The machine only recognizes 4GB (2GB+2GB). I am using the latest BIOS.

5 out of 5 eggsMacbook Pro - So far so good!

Pros: I installed this in my Macbook Pro 2.4 Core 2 Duo. I've heard that 8GB can make Mac laptops get a little flakey. My Laptop is doing better than ever.

Ram installed in under a minute. Booted up and computer recognized the ram. I run a lot of Adobe programs and they all are working right.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsJust the ticket

Pros: Installed in my Lenovo Thinkpad T61 in order to run an emulated IBM mainframe under Linux. Used to have 2GB, then 4GB and now a total of 8GB. Works great, but requires a 64-bit OS. Thinkpad sees the RAM no problem and everything breathes easier. Windows 7 64-bit also works well in my dual-boot configuration.

Cons: None. If you can afford it, and have a 64-bit Operating System, additional RAM is the single most effective performance upgrade you can make.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks in a Dell XPS m1530

Pros: This works with a Dell XPS m1530 laptop. I ran an old version of memtest86 for about two hours and received no error messages... thought about letting it sit and test longer, but unfortunately, I don't have the time.

Cons: None just yet.

Other Thoughts: I run VMWare so it eats up an average of 6 GB for approximately 4 guest systems running simultaneously. The memory stick serves its purpose, I have not had a chance to test the speed but I'm sure it will run most PC games just fine for my taste.

8 GB is extreme for most scenarios, but if you plan on running virtual machines via VMWare or Hyper-V, then this upgrade path is a no brainer. Having a quad core or higher is highly recommended too, but my core 2 duo works well for my test environments.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Perfect for Dell XPS M1330

Pros: Easy to install and works perfectly with my Dell XPS M1330.

Cons: NONE!!!

Other Thoughts: Called Dell to inquire about RAM and the price(s) were outrageous. Newegg has done it again. Works great with Windows 7 x64.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great on Dell M4300

Pros: It is memory it either work or not. 8GB of RAM is huge improvement with Virtual PC VMWare.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The improvement from 4 GB (3.25 in Windows XP 32 Bit) to 8 GB of RAM is huge. I installed Windows XP 64 Bit. Only problem sofar is that iTunes will not sync my iPhone. It require Vista 64 Bit. Hope to switch for Windows 7 64 Bit soon. I tried the Corsair memory first and it would not boot the laptop. I think it is the slow timing on the Corsair that caused it.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Works great on Dell Latitude D630 running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 edition.

The D630 requires removal of keyboard to access one of the RAM slots. Bios A13 added support for 8GB of memory, so make sure you update to the latest BIOS before installing.

Cons: You're paying a premium for 8GB when 4GB can be had for as low as $50. But that's the fault of the market more than anything else.
