5 out of 5 eggsKeeping old computers somewhat relevant

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 4GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Laptop Memory Model 991685

Pros: Plug and play. No issues whatsoever in an old Dell D830. Documentation says 4 GB total, but chipset supports 8 GB. I'm running Win 7 Pro with 2 x 4 GB for 8 GB fully addressable.

Cons: Not really a con, but due to the age of this technology (DDR2), relatively expensive compared to modern mem.

Other Thoughts: Finding DDR2 isn't as easy as it used to be. If you need some and are on the fence, I'd get it before it's gone for good.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing Mushkin.
We appreciate your feedback and support.

5 out of 5 eggsMushkin RAM is great!

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 4GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Laptop Memory Model 991685

Pros: 1. Great price.
2. Faultless performance

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This RAM has worked great for me. A little background...

I have an old 2007 17” MacBook Pro 2.4 Ghz. I thought that my MacBook Pro’s RAM was maxed out at 4GB (two 2GB Crucial chips), but then I read on the Internet that the Santa Rosa chipset could actually support 6GB of RAM quite smoothly.

My MacBook Pro has recently become my second computer, since I bought a 15” MacBook Pro i7 with 8GB of RAM this spring. The 17” became my research machine and one of the things that I was researching is setting up a MySQL cluster -- multiple machines running the same database. I set up three Linux CentOS virtual machines in VMware Fusion (one management node, two database nodes) on my 17”. With 4GB of RAM, things were slow, with an awful lot of disk swapping going on.

Once I found out that this machine would support 6GB, I did some research and decided that the Muskin RAM looked like a great deal. Of course, when I installed it, I shattered a couple of popular myths concerning RAM u

5 out of 5 eggsBeyond awesome!

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 4GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Laptop Memory Model 991685

Pros: The main pro is that there is no cons!!! Mushkin is definitely my favorite RAM manufacturer after having stability problems with OCZ Reapers.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: Could be cas-4 but it just wasn't available with 4gbx1 configuration from any other manufacturer!

5 out of 5 eggsBang for the Buck!

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 4GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Laptop Memory Model 991685

Pros: I multi-boot between XP (32-bit), Vista (64-bit), and Win7 (64-bit) on my HP DV2Z laptop. I used this to replace faulty RAM and it has been flawless. Faster than the stock RAM that HP packaged and with no system instabilities at all.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: You need 64-bit operating systems to see all 4GB, so on a 32-bit OS, you'll see around 3GB instead. Despite what another reviewer wrote, Mushkin has been around for many years and they have a great reputation with regards to customer support.
