5 out of 5 eggsI <3 Mushkin

Pros: Mushkin rocks. I wish people would give them more credit. For the price this little kit is phenomenal. Decent OC capability, and I got it in a combo discount that made me consider picking up another kit for quad channel.

Cons: None. I love Mushkin SSDs. This is the only RAM I've owned in the last decade made by Mushkin but I just love the word Mushkin and they have excellent build quality. Mushkin.

Other Thoughts: I got a Mushkin shirt as a free gift from Newegg (I think) a looooooong time ago. I still have it along with all my other free gifts Newegg sent. It is my favorite free gift, a close second is the cool transforming book light clip thing. I have a Newegg hat too but it has a bronze clip on the strap and it hurts my forehead so I stopped wearing that in like 2004.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked great

Pros: One memory board worked great.

Cons: One of the memory boards was defective and had to be returned.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to get the desktop together and found one of the memory boards to be defective. Went to a local store to get new memory and get this computer up and running. I wanted to return these memory boards for a refund but found out I would lose the combo discount if I didn't take replacement boards. So now I have to send these defective ones back, wait for the new ones and try to get my money back for the ones I just bought.

3 out of 5 eggsDefective

Pros: Not sure yet.

Cons: Needed to send back due to 1 bad memory board.

Other Thoughts: Wanted to finish putting together this desktop computer but had to go to a local store to get memory. I wanted to return the defective memory but found out I would lose my combo discount unless I took replacement memory. So I'll have to return these, wait for the new memory to come and hopefully the store where I bought these will take them back.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Ram So Far

Pros: 8gb at a resonable price by a reputable vender. No huge gaudy heatsinks that do nothing but get in the way. Grey design goes well with the rest of my computer.

Cons: None unless they decided to die in the future.

Other Thoughts: 8gb is the ideal amount of ram for gamers/multitaskers. Dont bother with 16gb running at silly speeds with towering heatsinks unless you know for sure you need it for professional/niche applications.

1 out of 5 eggsNot reliable enough. 2 bad sticks.

Pros: Price was good. Good reviews, it was 5 eggs. Bought this product due to the reviews.

Cons: Have had 2 bad sticks now. One was bad right out of the box. RMA'd to Newegg and they replaced it. About a year later another stick failed. Constant crashing and odd behavior. Memtest86 reports over 65535+ errors. Tested in 2 different machines and errors were the exact same. It is just not reliable enough.

Other Thoughts: I have always heard good things about Mushkin. This memory was used in a small file server that is idle most of the time. I need reliable memory for this system and can't use ECC with this hardware setup. I guess I will order something different to replace it. I don't mind spending the $ for good products. Using some cheapo OEM stuff I had sitting around for the time being to get the system back operational. Only issues I had with this PC were when using the bad ram.

4 out of 5 eggsReliable RAM

Pros: Reliable - These have never caused me any problems
Heat Sink - Always a plus

Cons: Not OC friendly - Could get minimal overclock on these
Pricey - I would not pay $80

Other Thoughts: I bought these on-sale awhile back. If you're not looking for the fastest or the most OC friendly RAM, and you just want solid performance for a long period of time then this is a great set.

1 out of 5 eggsMushkin Ram Dissapointment

Pros: It did it's job for about 4 months.

Cons: This ram has caused me the biggest headache of my life It ended up costing me hundreds of dollars. I bought it TWICE, thinking to give it a chance. BOTH times it failed within a year.

The second time my ram started failing I assumed there was no way it would fail again and so soon. So I purchased a new harddrive to try to remedy my problem. When the new harddrive did not fix my BSOD problem, I still did not want to believe it was my ram......YEP...mushkin ram is that bad. It was the mushkin ram causing my BSOD. It really had failed FOUR times..... I do not overclock my systems. In fact, I take very good care of my system and do nothing intense on it.

Do yourself a favor and do not buy this ram. It took 4 sticks failing for me to finally write Mushkin off permanently. I really do not want anyone else to lose nearly 500 dollars because of this ram or more. It will fail on you fast..and it will cost money...stay away. I hope someone benefits from reading this..

5 out of 5 eggsGood, Standard RAM

Pros: It looks nice, performs as expected (it's RAM...) and has a fantastic lifetime warranty. I had a stick go bad and they replaced the full set; no drama, no questions, no problem, just fill out the RMA form and away you go.

Cons: Expensive, but then again so is all other DDR3 these days.

Other Thoughts: I use two of these sets in my 18TB Windows Server 2012 file serving box.

I wish RAM was as cheap now as it was when I purchased this for $38/set.
