4 out of 5 eggsStraight Talk

Pros: Simple Install (of course).
Very good support, talked to them on the phone got good info, plus.
Works as advertised.

Cons: Firmware for newer Callisto and the Chronos are the same, but the site does not make that point clear.
A phone call cleared it up (plus aditional questions).
Seems the older Callisto are still using their own Firmware, and newer ones(Like mine) are not, and again, the website does not make that clear leading a person to try and install wrong Firmware.
That would make this a 3 egg but great tech support bought them an egg back.

Other Thoughts: The mounting bracket could actually be made to fit 2 SSD's, I think, and probably cost less to make, that would be something none of the other SSD's have, and give a marketing leg up. And encourage people to happily add a second SSD from Mushkin, later on.

1 out of 5 eggsMine died in 1 year :(

Pros: SSD is fast and was easy to install. Small.

Cons: Died after 1 year and I lost all my data. Had to go back to my other harddrive which i have now for like 6 years and its still good.

Other Thoughts: Definitely not gonna buy it again.

1 out of 5 eggsNever again Mushkin

Pros: Fast when it worked - this drive will now be replaced a second time and when I get it - off to unload it.

Cons: This is the second drive they will have to replace under warranty. The first failed after 6 weeks. This one was unused, so I installed it in the laptop and it failed in about 5 months. As I have had Kingston, Corsair, and four Mushkin SSD's, I know have a 75% failure rate on the Mushkin devices and a zero % failure rate on multiple Kingston and Corsair SSD's.

Other Thoughts: Wanted to buy American - suggest you look at other manufacturers (except it looks like OCZ is also not that great based on reviews everywhere).

2 out of 5 eggsBe careful

Pros: This SSD was amazing; quick, easy to install, and fairly priced, right up until it died on me.

Cons: After about 6 weeks it would not boot. Every time I tried to turn on my computer the SSD would not load. BIOS recognized that it was there but when I tried a windows repair disk but the drive was no where to be found. I put the drive in a laptop to the same effect.

Other Thoughts: I thought the drive was amazing until it died. I don't know I got a lemon or if this is par for the course. I'm in the process of contacting Mushkin to discuss the warranty. The drive is only been in use for 6 weeks.

Buyer just be careful and make sure you have a backup, this could happen to any drive but it seems more common with SSDs.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat Till it's Not

Pros: Fast HD Replacement. Not expensive.

Cons: Failed within seven months of use.

Other Thoughts: It's a great little SSD. Until it fails on you and you're stuck wondering if you can get an RMA for something that's seven months old.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Greatly Improved speed over a rotating HDD

Cons: Short life

Other Thoughts: Ordered two of these 7 months ago, to be used as OS and Program drive respectively. Worked great, extremely fast, until this morning, when both drives died. Booted the computer to find the program drive was no longer showing up in Windows and all my programs were not accessible, restarted the computer thinking it was an odd windows bug, to find that it was not recognized in BIOS. During troubleshooting the second drive (OS) stopped being recognized as well.

2 out of 5 eggsTwo down

Pros: Easy setup. Faster than a standard drive

Cons: Unreliable and short-lived.

Other Thoughts: The first one I ordered was bad on day one. Mushkin was polite, helpful and quick to replace it. But after using the replacement for ten months, it has gone bad as well.

5 out of 5 eggsafter 6 months, still a great drive

Pros: I recieved an old 2008 macbook from a friend that i repaired. Wasn't impressed with the old 5400rpm drive that came in it so i upgraded to this drive. OSX boots in seconds, battery life improved a noticeable amount. File transfers take seconds, updates and file copying is a snap. All in all a nice breath of fresh air was blown into this mac after i installed it. goin on 5 years and this machine can still handle what i need it for.

Cons: Havn't had a single problem. Other than having to mod my case a little bit to make it fit. Just had to remove a useless metal piece between my battery and the hard drive space.

Other Thoughts: works fine for macs. if i ever upgrade to a new laptop, i can skimp on the hard drive and just replace it with this.
