4 out of 5 eggsMushkin is cost-effective

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Prospector 4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive Model MKNUFDPR4GB

Pros: Economical if bought in batches; does the job. I bought ten and they all function.

Cons: Useable capacity a little less than stated.

Other Thoughts: I have some mp3 players that take a maximum of 4 GB USB drives (a table-top radio and a car radio). These Mushkins fit the bill for subdividing my music collection. The shipping cost per unit is prohibitive unless one orders several units, since the shipping cost for several is only a bit more than for one. The useable capacity is actually a bit less than 4 GB, but not enough less to make a difference. Tip: to prevent the cap from going astray drill a small hole in the end of the cap and thread through a short length of string with a small knot at the end (small enopugh not to interfere with installing the cap). Tie the other end to the loop in the casing.

5 out of 5 eggs4 GB does the job

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Prospector 4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive Model MKNUFDPR4GB

Pros: Used to flash a bios and did the job. I will also be using it at work to move files between non-networked computers.

Cons: Easy to lose clear cap?

Other Thoughts: Not much really unless you need blazing speed or bigger capacity, but for this price its great

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Prospector 4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive Model MKNUFDPR4GB

Pros: Works as advertised, bought 4 for digital photo frames at my mom's office. The price was right, and they work well.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Made in USA!

3 out of 5 eggsUpdate

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Prospector 4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive Model MKNUFDPR4GB

Pros: Not very expensive.

Cons: Still doesn't read fast enough for use in my Yamaha home receiver.

Other Thoughts: Not sure why but tonight works okay. Write speeds of 6-7 mb/s.

1 out of 5 eggsPainfully Slow

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Prospector 4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive Model MKNUFDPR4GB

Pros: Seems to not lose data, yet? My new loaner drive.

Cons: Probably the slowest flash drive I have. It's about a tossup between this and my PNY 16 gb attache. Peak write speed was 3 mb/s according to my win7 64 bit laptop.

Other Thoughts: Love my other Mushkin drives but those are Mulhollands. Hve several 4gb plus a couple 16 gb.

5 out of 5 eggsGood fit for running ESX on

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Prospector 4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive Model MKNUFDPR4GB

Pros: Cheap, small profile USB drive that can be used to run ESX off of. This is small enough that you can stick this on the inside of a case if the motherboard has a USB port directly on it.

Cons: Can lose the cap easily but for six bucks this can't be beat.

5 out of 5 eggsReadyboost

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Prospector 4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive Model MKNUFDPR4GB

Pros: Using as readyboost on 2 old machines

Cons: n/a

Other Thoughts: 5 bucks for a moderate increase on old, low ram machines. Can't complain. These used to be a lot more in price.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Prospector 4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive Model MKNUFDPR4GB

Pros: Like others said - its BOOTABLE! I bought 3 of these, two for running FreeNAS and the other as a spare. Been running for about 6 months and no problems. As a matter of fact, I came back here for more.

Cons: If you use it for day-to-day use, you are more than likely to loose the cap. Doesn't seem to stick on very well either.

5 out of 5 eggsNice little drive

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Prospector 4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive Model MKNUFDPR4GB

Pros: Cheap, and BOOTABLE. Some USB drives by other makers such as Kingston aren't bootable. This one will boot up just fine.

Cons: Plastic cap might be easy to loose, but who cares. It's $6
