5 out of 5 eggsLinux compatible with 153 MB/s read speed

Pros: * Fully Linux compatible (openSUSE 13.1 for x86_64)
* 153 MB/s read speed consistently (tested using hdparm -t --direct /dev/sdx)
* A red LED activity light shines through the back of the drive to indicate reading and writing. This light is visible through the sides of the drive when the cap is attached to the back
* The activity LED is the correct brightness; not to bright to be annoying or distracting, yet not so dim that it would be difficult to see in daylight
* All aluminum drive case seems very well made
* Aluminum drive case effectively dissipates heat
* Cap attaches to the back of the drive while in use
* Slim profile enables multiple Ventura Plus drives to be simultaneously plugged into USB ports that are spaced very close together. The drive is the same height as a USB port, and only 1 mm wider on each side than a USB port (the drive is 17 mm wide, and the USB port is 15 mm wide)

Cons: * When the cap is attached to the back of the drive, it feels quite loose. So far the cap remained attached to the back of the drive, yet it requires little force to remove it. I can envision the cap coming off and getting lost of the drive was dropped while the cap was attached to the back of the drive.

Other Thoughts: This drive should be compatible with every recently released Linux distribution, including Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Red Hat, and more.

My ownership of this drive is 6 weeks to date.

This drive runs warm to the touch (not hot) even while idle, which concerns me a little. The lifespan of this drive remains to be seen. I never bought a Mushkin product before, so this was a small bit of faith on my part based on many positive reviews of Mushkin products I read over the years.

I would deduct 1/2 an egg from the rating for this dive (for a rating of 4.5 eggs) due to the excessive heat it generates, yet Newegg does not allow review ratings in increments of 1/2 eggs. Since the drive performs beyond the advertised specifications and has yet to fail, I feel 5 eggs is a more accurate rating than 4 eggs.

I ran badblocks for 50 passes on this drive and found no defective blocks. This may sound like an odd idea to run badblocks on a flash drive, yet I found multiple flash drives from other manufacturers that revealed themselves as defective only after this thorough test. If your data integrity matters to you, do not trust a drive until after you proved no reasonably detectable failures could be found.

While the label on the drive reads "Mushkin", the drive appears to have been actually manufactured by Kingston. The KDE Control Panel module USB Devices reveals:
Manufacturer: MUSHKIN

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive

Pros: These drives work well and are priced lower than equivalent drives from other top tier companys.

Read and Write speeds are as advertised when used on a USB 3.0 machine. Having an SSD helps a ton.

Cons: The cap might be easy to get lost. You can attach it to the other end of the drive when it is in use but it does not stay on very well. Just keep track of the cap.

Other Thoughts: I started buying from Muskin a few years ago. I purchased some DDR3 kits from them because the price was easily $10 lower than the competition. Those same kits perform just fine today.

Their flashdrives are no different. They perform just like they say they will and they do not randomly go bad. This is my second Ventura 16GB and Ill gladly buy another If I need to.

5 out of 5 eggsUltra Fast and Reliable

Pros: I just received my product today, 4 Days Later with regular shipping (which is awsome!) and i purchased it because its a fair bargain for a usb stick that is half as fast as an ssd, i purchased it for Readyboost and it's great. my computer is running smoother and is more responsive. I'm SATISFIED!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If your interested in buying a great memory stick, for a great bargain, this is it!.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Product

Pros: 1. Slim metal frame (seen far bulkier flash drives).
2. Extremely fast read speeds (depending on the file type of course and size but overall I am getting advertized speeds).
3. Cheap

Cons: -None-

Other Thoughts: *Important* USB 3.0 ports on a computer or the motherboard itself are not all one and the same. Every motherboard has drivers for the USB 3.0 ports and those drivers can be to blame instead for not allowing you to reach advertized speeds (rather then the flash drive itself). I say this because I've noticed varying speeds for USB 3.0 flash drives (not just this product) from PC to PC because the computers themselves were different either in age, driver support or even different OS can give varying results from one PC to the next. Add in the fact that it also depends on the file type that you're transferring and it's size and you can see there are many variables. My point is, don't be entirely stickler on the advertized speed because it's not always the flash drives that's to blame for a slow transfer.

With ALL that GUNK out of the way I say yes to this flash drive being one of the fastest I've had the pleasure of owning.

5 out of 5 eggsMushkin 16 Gig T/Drives

Pros: Got 170 Mbs read and 32 Mbs write on Disc Mark so no complaints - it says [UP TO] im not going to expect the MAXIMUM read/write rate every time - have to say not bad for the price and all I need is fast reads and thats what I expected

Cons: None to speak of.- already lost the caps but dont care much - these drives will not be removed from the machine for about 4 or 5 years anyhow - used the same brand [USB 2] on my last system they were in use constantly for almost 6 years in a hot dirty environment aside from being rusted to the usb ports they worked fine after they were pulled off the old system.

Other Thoughts: Bought another brand for quite a bit more and they would run a lot slower and drop out at random then one day they took a &*&* and would not function at all - I like Mushkin they have a tendency to work I have a 3 year old Mushkin SSD running on my system its still showing 100% health after 900+ days of constant abuse - also use this brand system memory for years w/o a single issue - would buy again..

4 out of 5 eggsI <3 Mushkin

Pros: USB 3.0
Sleek Style
Named after the county I live in!

Cons: Not a good Idea to put this on your keyring. The plastic broke off and had my keys not have been in my hand when it happened, I could have lost 16GB worth of music, pictures and files.

3 out of 5 eggsworks but its slow

Pros: 16 GB, aluminum case,

Cons: starts with normal 3.0 read write speeds then ramps down to writing at 1.2mb/sec .... when moving a 2 gb file from a harddrive it took almost 15 min pluged in to a known working 3.0 port.

Other Thoughts: Great usb stick if you dont mind the speed issues

4 out of 5 eggsThis Is A First

Pros: Well made and solid no doubt about it. Real world tests show it to be reliable and about on par with the price point. For every day use you could not go wrong buying this drive.

Cons: This is the 1st Mushkin product that I've ever bought that did nor reach or exceed advertised speed. Using AMD USB 3.0 drivers on an FM2 board with antivirus disabled I got 13% less read speed and 42% less write speed. I tested two other slightly different models of drives on the same setup and they gave above advertised speed. I used ATTO and USB-FlashBench for testing.

Other Thoughts: I tried three different USB installers and Linux Mint 13 would not load properly on this drive. I use nothing but Mushkin drives for my Mint Linux. So now you see why I chose my review title.
