Don't fear the Reaper. OCZs Reaper HPC (Heat Pipe Conduit) is an innovative cooling solution for high-speed memory modules. By using a heat pipe and radiator fins the heat generated is dissipated faster than standard heat spreader designs. This matters to you because it helps facilitate improved overclocking performance, while improving longevity and stability of your memory.

The 2GB (2x1GB) kit will immediately boot right up to the rated specs on the latest NVIDIA SLI chipsets. Even though the Reaper HPC modules were designed for gamers and performance enthusiasts the Enhanced Performance Profiles (EPP) built in eliminate the need for manual configuration and make optimizing the memory easy for anyone who want to maximize system performance.

  • newegg OCZ Reaper HPC Edition DDR2 SDRAM Featuring an EPP (Enhanced Performance Profiles) programmed SPD, the PC2-8500 Reaper HPC modules immediately boot at the rated specs on the latest generation of NVIDIA SLI chipsets. Although the OCZ Reaper HPC series was coined for enthusiasts, EPP eliminates the need for manual configuration and makes memory optimizations a household item for the complete range of consumers looking to maximize system performance through overclocking.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Memory

Pros: I've had this memory for over a year and currently run it in two different gaming computers. I've had it installed in several different motherboards and its never failed me. I've done minor overclocking and it seems fairly stable. I don't take overclocking too far as I don't have a barrel full of fifty dollar bills to afford another system. ;)

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Take note that the heatsink on this ram might be a problem for some depending on the mobo layout. If you have DIMM slots next to your CPU and you use a large aftermarket cooler that raises off the cpu and is rather wide at the top you could have a clearance problem depending on the width of your cooler. I use this RAM in a Asus M3A32-MVP mobo and a Foxconn A79A-S and both have the larger CM Hyper 520 and the fans on the 520 sit right next to the heatsink of this RAM. It barely clears but the good thing in my case is that the warmth from the RAM is being constantly pulled through the 520's rather large heatsink and even though the heat from the RAM is passing through it still keeps my CPU 10 degrees cooler.

4 out of 5 eggsGood RAM for the price

Pros: The "heat sinks" on the top are very nice. I usually have RAM overheat issues most the time but this works out great.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: I had 1 stick DoA and the other work fine. Not much of con because I know it happens.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome.

Pros: Does exactly what it says, and then some. No problems detecting standard settings, and no problems overclocking the bejezus out of it. Great ram, worth the money.

Cons: None, Not one negative thing associated with this ram.

Other Thoughts: Neweggs prices, shipping, and customer service are outstanding.

4 out of 5 eggs"Cool" RAM

Pros: These sticks look very cool and add a lot of personality to a computer. The heat pipes are an excellent idea for over-clockers and make dissipating heat much more possible. I like how the heat pipes are made of light metal, but don’t feel as if they are going to break if you touch them. OCZ always has the coolest looking RAM and doesn’t sacrifice performance for looks.

Cons: The heat pipes make it nearly impossible to use if you have an aftermarket CPU cooler as they sit pretty high up. Since the DIMM slots are usually always close to the CPU socket most aftermarket coolers will end up hanging over the first 2 DIMM and won’t allow enough clearance to fill all slots with these. 2.1V is quite a lot of power needed for 800 speed RAM without LED’s and other unnecessary aesthetics as most RAM modules start becoming unstable around 2.3 - 2.6V; because of the higher voltage requirements some mobos will clock this RAM down to 667 speed and will have to manually be set back to 800. This RAM would be no good for mobos with DIMM slots closer together as the metal around the memory modules stick out a little bit making it difficult to put them side-by-side.

Other Thoughts: Overall this is a good set of RAM that does its job better than expected. I haven’t had any problems yet so I am very pleased with OCZ. 2GB allow me to play the latest games and use the latest software with no lag and lower wait time. Very good value for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsits just a ram

Pros: works! 4-4-4-15 2T at 2.1v
you do have to change the voltage(2.1v) and cas lat. in the BIOS.

Cons: no cons. does its job.

Other Thoughts: i have 2sets of this item. it says it is SLI supported and stuff... but many ppl with "high understanding" told me it really has no diff with non-SLI supported rams. so i do regret buying this item little bit. I could have save some money...(by buying normal rams)

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: Higher speed than advertised for me.

I have a high overclock (3.4ghz on an E2180) and run the tight factory timings @ 960mhz. Many with bad RAM insist that you can't use 4x1 GB and still overclock. I ordered 2 sets of these at different times ($13 total each!!!!!) and together they are as stable as just one set.

Cons: They won't run at 1066mhz (2 or 4 sticks) unless my CPU is down around 3.0ghz. Could be motherboard or timing issue.

Regardless this isn't much of a con because they DO run above rated speed in my configuration. (biostar p43 mobo)

Other Thoughts: They changed the way they look, and I have what appear to be two different sets of RAM, although CPU-Z identifies them as exactly the same.

The earlier set has a dual-sided copper sink and heat spreader

The new set has a single entry aluminum sink BUT it is taller, thicker, and the wrap around the chips themselves is NOTICEABLY heavier.

They appear to perform the same.

Mounted the way they are, it alternates tall/short heatsinks, so it may actually be a BENEFIT to mix the two sizes because they get more cooling from the fan instead of being mashed in a little row.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Looks really sharp in my case
-OCZ EVP is nice

Cons: -Heatpipe doesn't transfer as much heat as I had hoped, the main body of the heatsink gets rather warm to the touch when pushing the kit

Other Thoughts: So far, I've been able to push this kit to DDR2 1039 (5-5-5-15 2T@ 2.16 V on my P5Q Pro) giving me a nice 700MHz OC on my Q8200

I am unfortunately unable to change the command rate

Though the heatpipe looks really slick, it does add a considerable amount of height to the kit. Depending on your mobo and cpu cooler you may not be able to use a few of your DIMM slots

3 out of 5 eggsnot the ram picutered

Pros: Cool looking ram

Cons: Not the ram that is pictured. What I got was the handle barred shaped one with chrome/silver, that is not closed on one side. This is the second set of reapers I have order from newegg. The first set was the one pictured, and showed up visibly damaged heatsink like it had not been put together correctly and a bad ram module in the upper address space.

Unfortunately I live in another country, and shipping back to the States will cost more than the ram is worth.

Other Thoughts: defaulted it seems to 1.9v, but I am playing with MB settings to see if I can get it up.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry for the picture not being accurate. The memory is the same and we would be glad to assist you with settings on our support forums at the link below. Setting the memory voltage as shown on the label may take care of your problems.
Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsGood Ram

Pros: It works as advertised (at 2.1v).
Heat pipe.
Other stuff.

Cons: Nothing to put here.

Other Thoughts: Remember, the 800mhz 4-4-4-12 specs are when they are getting 2.1v. For me they ran at 670mhz with 4-4-4-12 at 1.8v. Changing your ram voltage to 2.1v is essential for advertised performance.

A lot of people give ram bad ratings because they don't know what voltage their ram requires.
