Don't fear the Reaper. OCZs patent pending Reaper HPC (Heat Pipe Conduit) is an innovative cooling solution for high-speed memory modules. By utilizing a heat pipe and radiator fins both, the heat generated is dissipated faster than standard heat spreader designs. This matters to you because it helps facilitate improved overclocking performance, while improving longevity and stability of your memory.

This 4GB kit ensures optimal performance via an ideal combination of low voltage requirements, speed, and latency, so it's a great match for the Nehalem platform to unleash performance you could only dream of before.

  • newegg Reaper Heat Pipe Conduit The Reaper HPC is an innovative patent-pending cooling solution developed by OCZ to effectively minimize heat produced by high-speed memory. As heat rises into the thermo-conductive copper heat pipe conduit, it is dissipated through the strategically-placed compact aluminum fin array.
  • newegg 2.15V EVP The OCZ EVP (Extended Voltage Protection) feature allows performance enthusiasts to use a VDIMM of 2.15V without invalidating their OCZ Lifetime Warranty.
  • newegg DDR2 1066 DDR2 1066 delivers incredible performance and platform compatibility with up to 8.5GB/s memory bandwidth per channel for scintillating work and gaming power!

4 out of 5 eggsNOT BAD AT ALL

Cons: never got my rebate form

Other Thoughts: good fast memory, thought i had a slow processor issue, but i guess i had to little ram in my pc

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate to first review

Pros: Will do 1066. I previously was unable to get there. OCZ forums, combined with someone named 'LSDMEASAP' on Gigabyte forums, will give enough help to get these running on EP45-UD3x boards.

Cons: Needed to relax timings considerably to get 1066. Stable at 5-7-7-21. Huge frustrating process involving 30+ reboots and memtest/prime95/linpack testing just to get rated speed.

Other Thoughts: I am not so bummed at ocz now. I may actually buy from them again.

5 out of 5 eggsMemory is doing well!

Pros: Looks. These modules are very unique with the HPC.
Speed. These run at the rated speeds.

Cons: Couldnt think of a reason to give these anything below 5 eggs.

Other Thoughts: I am using these 1066MHz modules in an 800MHz motherboard. The ram was downclocked to 800MHz, I overclocked the proc/FSB and now they are running at just below 500MHz. I had to manually adjust voltage to 1.95v. The SPD for 400MHz is 1.8v and 1066MHz is 2.1v.
So 1.95v is about right for speeds of 500MHz.
Coming from 667MHz mem this upped my total memory bandwidth to 8.3GBps, a 22% improvement.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Newegg delivers fast.
Strong packaging.
Looks cool.

Cons: Won't clock past 800 Mhz in any slot, in pairs, not in pairs, mixed with other OCZ Reapers. In fact, the bios start up does not even come up when set at 1066 on the M/B.

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte M/B updated to latest bios - check
Played with all the M/B over ride settings as recommended at the OCZ support forums - check
Physically moved the memory around on the MB - check
Finally gave up - check
The question: Is 8GB at 800 Mhz better than 4GB at 1066MHZ???

What to do with memory I assume I can't return since I already sent the rebate in.

Other pair of OCZ Reapers clocks to 1066 just fine. What's up with that?

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry that you have been having difficulties. Some motherboards have issues running 4gb of mmeory at 1066mhz. Others with the same chipset have no problems with that speed. Adding another kit, for 8gb total puts a large strain on your memory controller, and running higher speeds with 8gb can be extremely difficult.
Thank you

4 out of 5 eggsmixed feelings

Pros: with 20 clams rebate and a 4G usb drive its a steal. but on my gigabyte boards i rate it as mid range quality-but to be honest i can't perceive the difference in slower timings

Cons: CPUz identifies it at it at 5,5,5,15@1066 timings. OCZ website states 5,5,5,18. neither worked well on my EP45-UD3L w/Q6600 (OC to 2880. i had frequent BSOD's and crashes with Win 7x64. Bios wouldn't set the timings right so i had to manually set them, but still crashed even when i set it to 5,7,7,18 5,5,5,,18 or 5,5,5,20 . win 7 full memory check didnt find any errors. i swapped them into my P35-DS3L e6800 no OC, and seems stable so far but only 2 days, bios still recognized it wrong there too

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Memory.

Pros: Sleek, Reliable, No hiccups in the system at all. DDR-1066 memory will require most systems be configured to work and run properly. Systems will either need to make timing changes and voltage bumps to work with these sticks. Research is your friend before purchasing. Replaced OCZ Gold 1x2 sticks for these due to suspects of system hiccups.

Cons: It is on the big side, I was going to buy another set but seeing how my CPU heatsink is rather big and the heatsink on the sticks are rather large, it was impossible.

3 out of 5 eggsnot stable at 1066 under any conditions

Pros: Passes memtest at 944 5-6-6-18. Passes memtest at 800 5-5-5-15. This is on GA-EP45-UD3P bios F10.

Has a rebate.

Cons: won't do 1066. I swapped this out for some Gskill that would do 1066 at specified settings. I moved this memory to a machine that recognized and used it as 800.

Involves a rebate.

Other Thoughts: I am tired of messing with OCZ memory. It just seems to be so twitchy that you have to work hard to get it to even do its spec speed. I am going to use gskill from here on out since I can't remember the last time I had to fuss with a set. I've used kingston, ocz, gskill, and corsair. All other brands I've used will do at least the spec.

Another fwiw: I have bought a number of ocz products with rebates over the last few years. One absolute consistent fact is that the rebate won't get sent until after I log in to the rebate handler website and do a status check. The first few times, I waited until about 12 weeks before getting suspicious and doing the status check. Mysteriously, I got an email the next day both times stating my rebate had been mailed. So I just put a reminder on the calendar to go log in and do a status check at 10 weeks.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry that you have had difficulties running rated speeds. We are always happy to assist with settings on our support forums at the link below.
Thank you

4 out of 5 eggsBlazin'

Pros: Crazy fast although 1066 isn't a normal speed.
Good heatsink.
Looks beast.
Loads every app 2 or 3 times as fast (I added it to an extra 2gbs for 6).

Cons: My PCB isn't black, although you can barely see it anyways.
My mobo only supports 800 cause of the odd speed, but I planned on getting another one anyways.
Can't lower the voltage from factory or it gets all fritzy- but that's okay.

Other Thoughts: Still sexy, and you just feel awesome when you have ram with the name REAPER. You kill stuff with this ram. Lots of stuff.

5 out of 5 eggsRetraction of rebate criticism

Pros: For OCZ and others: I have inspected the rebate description and now see that the misunderstanding was entirely mine. For OCZ, I apologize for the undue criticism and, again, I am very pleased with my Reapers which are truly a performance product.

Cons: For fellow consumers, as you can see from my most recent post, my rebate paperwork and online registration were all processed promptly. The matter lies now with the rebate folks (a group independent of OCZ) to issue the debit card. As stated in the rebate description, this should take 8 to 10 weeks.

Other Thoughts: Based on the chronology so far, I can only conclude that the rebate process will proceed as described. My sincere apologies to OCZ for my jumping to conclusions. I will certainly recommend OCZ to friends and others interested in well made memory.
