5 out of 5 eggsOverdrive feature

Pros: To the review that the automatic settings feature with overdrive didn't work.
You have the wrong motherboard. this feature is for 790GX/FX. Your board is an 890GX. But the rest of your review is 100% accurate. thank you.

Cons: none so far but only one day.

5 out of 5 eggsruns stable on asus m4a89gtd pro/usb3

Pros: shiny, works

Cons: hmmmmm, none so far

Other Thoughts: m4a89gtd board doesn't recognize it as 1600, sees it as 1067 first. Manually set speed to 1600, timings to 7-7-7-24 1T, and voltage to 1.70, and you're good to go. Update bios to 0402 first.

New to overclocking, having little success so far, suspect may need to drop RAM speed down first from 1600, we'll see......

5 out of 5 eggsSuperb DDR3 1600

Pros: This RAM may be the gem of OCZ’s offerings: runs at CL7@1600MHz (7-7-7-24 1T) with no problems in a decent board for a decent price. Got 8GB of this (4x2GB) that were error-free (Memtest86+ 4.00) right out of their packages. As with any board supporting the DDR3 JEDEC voltage spec of 1.5v, you have to manually set this memory to 1.7 or as close as you can, in my case either 1.695 or 1.710 (Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H).
I *suspect* it can be successfully overclocked with 2x2GB; maybe even with 4x2GB. It’s the good stuff. I recommend it highly.

Scores a 7.5 Windows Experience Index

Cons: Wasn’t free. Only offered a $20 rebate per 4GB (2x2GB) instead of a $30 one. Voltage is slightly higher than the standard 1.5v for DDR3.

Not a con for this memory, but: I tried out OCZ’s AMD Black Edition DDR3 1600 (8-8-8-24 2T), which is slightly less expensive, but in my initial batches (2 sets of 2x2GB), one DIMM of each pair had errors (Memtest86+ 4.00). Even after getting error-free pairs of AMD Black Edition, I find this Platinum to be better: it runs at CAS 7 with no problems. AMD Black Edition, designed to enable Black Edition Memory Profiles, didn’t work for me via the supported hardware and AMD Overdrive 3.1. If you try it, I sincerely hope you have better luck than I did!

Other Thoughts: Although it isn’t specifically marketed for AMD boards/cpus, I have found it to be — based on my experience and that of others — a beautiful (as in stable and high performing) match.

5 out of 5 eggsLucky Number (CL)7!

Pros: Runs effortlessly at rated speeds

Low-profile Heatspreader with no unnecessary garbage

Cons: Absolutely nothing

Other Thoughts: After having a bad experience with the Reaper ram, I RMA'd it and got this ram for the same price. It runs perfectly at the rated timings. I was even able to get mine to run 1600Mhz 7-7-7-16 1T on stock 1.7 volts.

Currently I'm running 1704Mhz 7-7-7-24 1T @ 1.78 volts, Prime95 stable. I have no doubt I could push it higher if it weren't for the terrible NB on this 770 chipset.

I have this memory in a Gigabyte 770TA-UD3 with a PhenomII 955 BE C3 @ 3.3Ghz.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as listed...

Pros: With ASUS M4A79XTD and AMD 955 I had to manually set timings and fsb but this ram runs flawlessly 7-7-7-24, 1600mhz at 1T.

If you have a case window and lights, the shiny heatsinks reflect them awesomely!

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: Not sure why there are so many people having problems with not just this ram but a lot of ddr3. Myself and others that seem to know what they are doing has it running flawlessly. Maybe check motherboard compatibility before buying could help.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible

Pros: Plug n Play perfection

Cons: zero cons

Other Thoughts: I had just put my computer together i was half asleep then realized I didn't have memory for the new board.
Sped over to ? to find this 2x2gb kit and got it. Threw it in the motherboard plugged it all in and baam. 1600, 7-7-7-XX unganged 1T everything was what it should be. HUGE difference with zero effort.
Thanks OCZ. Another glorious memory kit!

3 out of 5 eggsLong term test - good

Pros: Low heat, low power consumption memory units with fairly good performance. I bought them over a year ago and they perform well ever since. The memory runs stable on 1600 MHz in my ASUS Maximus Extreme. Windows 7 rates the memory on 7.1, which is the highest score in my system.

Cons: Recently I decided to buy more of these memory units, so my 64 bit Windows 7 could have 8 Gb RAM total. I received faulty product and the system went blue screen. I freshly installed Windows server 2003, Windows XP and Windows 7 and the memory failed to work under any of these environments. Quality assurance at OCZ is not quite convincing. Expect RMA.

Other Thoughts: Back in time I bought OCZ RAM and OCZ Solid State Hard Drive for my new built computer. I was supposed to get mail in rebates for them, but all I got was a rebate denial. They wrote, that I wasn't eligible for rebate because I ran out of time. They date the rebate dead-line a week before I made a purchase. They put a lousy typo on date and it made me loose about $100 in rebates.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry that you are having problems. When adding another 4gb of memory, BIOS adjustments must be made to compensate for the larger load on your memory controller. This is not the fault of the memory, but is a system issue. We will be happy to assist with settings to get you running properly. Please visit our support forums at the link below and post in the memory section for assistance.
Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsSo far So good

Pros: So far this ram is running awesome! Its running very stable and running better than the 6 gigs of single-channel DDR3 ram i had before. I bought it retail for 10 dollars more but i get a 30 dollar rebate, so i guess its coming out cheaper than on here.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: As for the guy above titled Rebate refusal... dude you have to change it to 1600 in your bios... DUH. i put mine in and it was the first thing i did. runs awesome. i dont know what people are talking about. Get a better MoBo or something cuz its running great in my powerhouse desktop.

1 out of 5 eggsRefused Rebate

Pros: Ok performance for a DDR3 dual channel memory in some motherboards! Nice packaging!

Cons: Where should I start, tested out in five different motherboard and not in one showed up as a 1600 memory usually 1333 but i can deal whit that since it's not a super high end memory! The timing was way off too. What I cant deal with is that the company lies about they rebate policy! I filled out the rebate form within the time they allowed and sent it back with the cut-out bar-code too. THEY REFUSED MY REFUND A $20 VISA CARD BECAUSE THE DATE WAS WRONG ON THE PRINT OUT FROM THE NEWEGG WEBSITE!!!! That is sad excuse for costumer service and I will never buy an Ocz product again!!! Kind of remind of Gigabyte outstanding costumer service when I got a $250.00 motherboard a couple years ago DOA and when I called them they refused to exchange the board so needless to say now when I build custom PC for any client never use a Gigabyte product!!!

Other Thoughts: Good luck everyone with this company!!!

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry that you had rebate problems. Rebate offers change often, and Newegg makes all past offers available at their rebate center (see link below). Because offers do change, you must use the correct form for your purchase date. We strongly suggest that all customers download their rebate form the day that they make their purchase. The rebate house that we use follows all rebate rules to the letter, and can make no exceptions. At OCZ we value our customers and want your experience to be the best possible. Feel free to email rebates@ocztechnology.com and include your full name, address, product, place and date of purchase, and a brief explanation of your situation. We will look into resolving this for you.
Thank you
