1 out of 5 eggsmy first problem with a build

Pros: ?

Cons: installed in new build back in nov. '11 and gave errors in memtest. thought the frequency wasn't compatible with the m/b. now i install these sticks in another new build, 1600 shouldn't be a problem but immediate errors on memtest.

Other Thoughts: i hope ocz makes it right.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad but other reviews may be more accurate

Pros: Good decent memory
Lasted a while for me atleast
Got it when it was much cheaper

Cons: Other reviewers seem to have problems
the gold heatsinks are kind of pointless... might as well get a generic ram
the price now is NUTS

Other Thoughts: I never really stressed the ram since it was in a mITX system without an overclock. Maybe it doesn't handle that well considering other reviews

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: was good when i got it! this review is for ocz ram in general.not just for the specific model.I bought ocz ram because ive heard good stuff about it,and it had a lifetime guarantee.

Cons: after a year my ram gave up the ghost, and i created an rma ticket only to be told they dont have that particular ram in stock anymore and they will issue a refund. Well it has now been over a month and i have seen no refund or anything. i have called numerous times only to be told its going to be 2-3 more weeks. 2-3 weeks later i get the same answer!!

Other Thoughts: ocz's rma process is for the birds,i have tried to talk to supervisors and people in charge only to be given the run around. i have been waiting and waiting for my refund and keep getting told it will be 2-3 more weeks,RIDICULOUS. i will never buy an ocz product again!!

2 out of 5 eggsFlaky

Pros: Generally ok if you leave it the sticks at SPD speeds and let the motherboard auto-configure to the 1066 speed.

Cons: First, sticks randomly check out. Occasionally on reboot, I'll have 4 or 8 gigs instead of 12. Now, I am 4 gigs instead of 6 after pulling a set that was not working properly.

Second, I was never able to get these sticks to 1333 or 1600. I tried using the board's XMP feature to bump the RAM to 1333 and 1600 with both sets and just one set. In both scenarios, I would get intermittent hard locks and blue screens until I returned the memory to SPD settings.

Other Thoughts: I bought 2 of these to get 12GB on my x58/i7 system. One kit was faulty, and threw memtest errors. Other seemed ok. After an RMA replacement, I was able to get both kits working for a total of 12GB, but with intermittent failures as described in the Cons section.

I may abandon these and try a different brand. After about a year, one of the sets fails to register no matter what I do. In the last week, I've only been able to get two sticks in the second set to register. I'd consider that very flaky, especially since one of the sets is already a replacement for a previously failed set.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Ram

Pros: Good set of dual-channel ram

Nice and shiny

Decently fast, and clocks in at the right speed in the Bios.

Cons: I would call this Ram decent at best, I do realize it is only 4GBs, but honestly I expected a lot more out of this stuff, I paid its full price, 130, and so I wanted some really good stuff, I have to say I do not believe that I got what I paid for.

It fills up fast, running about 50% on just Windows 7 alone, with nothing but security software in the background.

Other Thoughts: I would not actually recommend this to someone who wants to game. Sure it may run good for that, but I don't see it handling gaming as well as I have seen other brands of the same type doing

I plan to replace this Ram with stuff of the same level, but just more of and of high quality.

In my opinion this Ram is more flash than real, but is good for really medium level gaming, or for heavy normal non-gaming usage.

1 out of 5 eggs2nd impression, read other review (If he thinks his 3/10 fail ratio is bad..)

Pros: The one kit out of 5 that I got worked. And still works today. It must have been yanked out about 20 times in the past month and returns 0 errors on both slot pairs after 7 hours of memtest.

Cons: I almost feel like I should copy and paste the con comment 5 times, for the amount of faulty kits i've received.

Consider this a last chapter to my previous review.

I got the 5th (total) kit of RMA RAM from OCZ. Errors in dual channel configuration. One stick tested bad.

I now have blisters on my fingers from how many times i've had to pull out and put in the RAM. Good thing they take a long time in the RMA process so my fingers can heal before the next round of blisters start.

x5

Other Thoughts: Did not call the service number from my last review as the customer service rep was fairly helpful. Will call it for this RMA.

All i'm trying to do is get four working sticks of RAM. Is that really all that hard?

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, please call the number we provided you, and we will see that you are taken care of. We ware sorry for the difficulties.
Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Worked flawlessly from the beginning. Currently in use on an X48 motherboard with an E8500@4.2Ghz. Not a single hiccup. Runs advertised timings and speeds.

Cons: Gold is not my favorite color.

Other Thoughts: I actually bought these used off of eb@y, lol.

3 out of 5 eggsI purchased two of these kits, but one was faulty

Pros: Up 'till now, all of the OCZ products that I have purchased have been very solid (power supplies, an SSD and a bunch of memory). OCZ is a good brand and I trust them.

Cons: This particular kit was faulty. Minus two eggs. This is the first faulty OCZ memory kit that I have seen.

Other Thoughts: I built a new system for myself a few months ago using this memory kit. A few weeks ago, I purchased a second identical kit and installed it also.

After adding the additional memory, I immediately started seeing problems. There were random application errors and I even saw a BSOD. I suspected that one of the new memory modules might be the problem, so I tested each module individually using memtest. One of the new modules produced errors immediately and the second new module produced errors about an hour into the test. Both of the original memory modules tested fine. I'm now running without the new modules and I no longer have any problems.

I call this one "King Thuban"...and yes, It's amazing...

2 out of 5 eggsNot as advertised

Pros: Works at lower than rated speeds. Can run ONE pair 'stable' at 1333.

Cons: Does not run at 1600. Settings, voltages (memory and NB), and slot location has little effect. 1.6v, 1.9v...crash.

Other Thoughts: I have 2 pairs, one is the 'low voltage' type. The LV type is marginally more stable. I can run them at 1333 7-7-7-24 at 1.675v. The regular type (this review) fails Prime95 at these same settings much more often. I have an AMD CPU and Gigabyte MB. I am not alone in my observations and I agree that this memory is not true 1600 speed memory, it is probably 'better than average' 1066 memory that is 'marketed'. My bad. I fell for it. Now I'm out $80 for 4GB of memory I can't use, even at 1333. I'm trying to RMA this pair. I don't have high hopes that I'll get a replacement pair that is capable.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry that you are having difficulty running rated speeds. Our support staff will see that you are taken care of.
Thank you
