5 out of 5 eggsI got four I might be dumb

Pros: Vista x64 sees 4gb as I was lead to believe even before I tried to build this rig. By mistake I bought this kit and noticed that Vista x64 is a RAM hog so I sent for another kit mostly because I do not want an RMA and I am lazy.

Oddly S.A.N.D.R.A. reads me as having 8 banks of 512mb chips in my PC. As I said, my tech level is low so I do not know if this is a good thing. However, should I have bought the 2x2bg kit and ran two sticks versus four sticks I would have shown four banks of RAM with double the mbs.

SANDRA shows the timings advertized plus more timings I really do not understand. I am fairly sure that I run 1T which is the best. All this showed up with NO TWEAKING, a huge benefit to one with lower tech saavy.

Cons: I found looser timing 2x2gb RAM after I bought this tight RAM was A BUNCH cheaper, but a bunch is like $50-60.00, not exactl the National Debt.

I know of no heat trouble but I tell ya these four sticks are back to back in the four slots on an Asus M4N78 Pro.
I do not know if there is a reason for concern really as I only used Turbo Key profile one time that gives a 5% overclock.

Other Thoughts: Well, no tweaker talk here, move on. The PC seems to run like a violated monkey just the same.

2 out of 5 eggsmehh

Pros: their fast but not what there advertised at

Cons: could not get it work at advertised specs i adjusted voltage and clock skew per channel with no luck it runes fine at 1150/5-5-5-15/2.1v with 2 or 4 sticks but will not work in maximus 2 formula at advertised specs.

Other Thoughts: I was able to get my 2x2gb corsiar dominator to these speeds i could have saved my money if ocz would have mentioned it only works in 2x 1gb array on SOME boards.

1 out of 5 eggsOCZ ignorance update

Pros: None

Cons: way way too many

Other Thoughts: OCZ sent me a notation of how its a minor miricle my board ran 2 1 gig sticks of 1200 memory , well I borrowed a big old bag o new memory from a friend . 4 2 gig non EPP sticks .. guess what when I booted the memory showed at 1166 and my system ran like a rippin ape, i then installed 4 1055 Non EPP and guess what same deal. If you run EPP memory it has to be only 2 to run SLi and at promised speeds. OCZ needs to go back to school , and by the way the 3 requested telephone calls for a walkthrough as promised by the message taking machine. they never ccame ... A real class act huh. No wonder they say to write would be faster .. they are to busy to answer the phone .. By my reckoning they simply do not have a clue

1 out of 5 eggsReply to OCZ on OCZ Ignorance

Pros: NONE, this is a reply to the horse pucky reply they gave

Cons: Read below

Other Thoughts: I called EVGA and got 2 stories so i went and started working with different settings. My 780i A1 version board runs extrememly well and I have had no problems. In the early SLi boards i believe that if you use EPP enabled memory in all 4 banks the speed will be reduced by 50% so far that has been proven. manually setting to increase does not work PERIOD. I believe the intent of SLi EPP enabled memory was to be used in a single pair only. using the first DIMM slot and the 3rd DIMM slot. they worked as ADVERTISED that way. I belive the fault is simple . OCZ would rater sell without thought. get it sold and in a system . the tech service at OCZ Stinks severely. The telephone tech help tells you to use the E-Mail on line submission. If you leave a call back message you do not get called back , their reason is they are so busy. that i can believe. they give no information on the web page or in the specs. they would rather reely on a Forum wich to me is a dodge, a scam ,

1 out of 5 eggsOCZ Ignorance

Pros: If you only put in 2 sticks of the 1200 (PC2-9600) it will work great . remember to enable SLi mode in bios in memory configuration. you will then see you "ADVERTIZED" 1200 memory run at 1166 Not 1200

Cons: If however you arent seeing the big picture If you put 4 , 1 Gig sticks of EPP enabled memory your 4, 1 gig sticks will run at an FSB of 667 thats what they dont tell you. AsEPP is designed to run SLi . Nothing you change in Bios will alter those facts. I spent 6 hours trying. the results were this. a 10 second long beep then a reboot , a single beep and I was back to 667 4 gig memory. next i tried forcing it and the 10 second beep continued for 30 minutes i had to shut down put the old 800 (PC6400) back in to have the Bios reset.

Other Thoughts: Oh ya many other thoughts here. OCZ Tech support is absolutely worthless. You call them and get a recording asking you leave a message. next they tell you online will get a faster response. Bah Ha Ha Ha Ha what a frikkin joke the tech help is. I finally looked at other options. They have here a Kit of 2 , 2 gig sticks of 1200 memory .However they show it with 2 Hose Connectors on it , That memory is "Water Cooled designation" I was going to buy it but where it didnt specify if it could be used in both Forget it. If you want to run 8 gig or 4 gig using 4 sticks be sure to get Non EPP . Thats what they dont tell you. What they will tell you is your board doesnt support it. they tried that with me but then showed the specs 667,800,1066, 1200. Now where exactly did corporate america believe we were that stupid. OCZ Bad Idea. I chose 1 on the rating because I had to the true rating is -0

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry that you are having difficulties. This kit is sold as 2gb, and if you want to run 2 kits, you will have to do so without enabling EPP. You will also likely not hit rated speeds running 4 dimms. This has to do with your chipset and EPP programming (Nvidia controlled) and the fact that you are doubling the load on your memory controller by running 2 kits (4GB). OCZ does not control these factors, so you have to play by Nvidia's rules unfortunately. We will be glad to help with manual settings on our support forums at the link below.
Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsHaven't used 1200 speed....

Pros: ...currently using at 1140 though at 1.8V on ASrock AOD790GX motherboard and a Phenom II 940 Black Edition processor. This setup rocks. Along with a XFX GTX 260 Black Edition video card the games have never been so sweet. I'll be buying another pair with my next paycheck.

Cons: Heatsinks are tall, and could cause some people problems if not taken into consideration.

Other Thoughts: Newegg rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2 out of 5 eggsNot bad, not great either...

Pros: look sleek and run cool, 1066 is ez mode at any voltage

Cons: still can't get em to do 1200, tried 3 diff boards but its a lil late to RMA now, figured it was just the original board i tested em in, 4 months later when the board died ( asus sucks btw ) i got a new board and same story....even the SPD rating writtin in is for only 1174mhz (dunno where the number came from but thats one of the SPD's in cpuz)
last time i bought ocz years back i had a similar problem (back to patriot for me)

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsOCZ DDR2 1200 update

Pros: Wanted to update from my previous review that running this mem at 1200 started crashing my pc and even corrupted my OS. So dont try to run this mem on a DFI LP UT P35 T2R at 1200.

Cons: NONE
