2 out of 5 eggsRandom Crashs

Pros: Runs fine at 1333 and 1.65V

Cons: Random crashes at 1600. I'm RMA'ing it and giving it one more try then giving up on OCZ. Apparently this is really common with this memory. I'm going to try upping the Voltage and test it with mem86 as well, but I'd rather start with something that works as it is supposed to work OOTB.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry that you are having issues running rated speeds. We will be happy to assist you with settings on our support forums at the link below. Please pay us a visit and post in the memory section.
Thank you

1 out of 5 eggsQuality Control OCZ!

Pros: DDR 3 1600 at 8-8-8-24 and 1.65 v specifically designed for AMD CPUs. Pretty heat spreaders. 1 stick worked.

Cons: 1 stick would not post

Other Thoughts: I RMA'ed the memory and am going with a different brand. I didn't want to roll the dice with this one again... I normally have very good luck with OCZ and have a pair of "Reapers" that are running at 6-6-6-18 1333 on another system. I am only buying RAM with less than 5% 1 egg rating from now on.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry for the problem. We test each kit on actual systems before packaging, so we know that the kit was working before it was packaged. RAM can be very sensitive to handling and ESD.
Thank you

1 out of 5 eggsBig Mistake.

Pros: Ran GREAT at timmings of 7-7-7-21 for 31 days. Heat spreaders are quite attractive.

Cons: After 31 days this RAM won't even run at its specified timings of 8-8-8-24 without overvolting it to a minimum of 1.85. It didn't even require that much voltage for the tighter timings initially.

Other Thoughts: I REALLY wish now that I had purchased higher end RAM for my customer. I built two systems that are identical except for the RAM. Mine was Mushkin, but I've had to trade it to my customer for this stuff. His works perfectly now, but with this stuff in mine the voltage versus timings suck! I wish I could trade up, but after 32 days, sadly, it's too late. It looks like I won't be buying OCZ RAM again any time soon!

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we will be happy to assist you, and if your memory is defective we can replace it under warranty. Please visit the link below and create a support ticket to get in touch with our support staff.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat but need to set bios

Pros: Nice price w/rebate
OCZ has forums etc and hope I could get help if needed

Cons: Random crashes but I have Win7, all new machine so...?
Would be nice if it came w/instructions for typical bios setting.

Other Thoughts: As many have said, you need to goto your bios and change DRAM settings- I found good instructions online. Get some for your mobo if possible. I DL'd CPUz and it was running at 11-11-11. Changed to oem spec (4 or 5 timings and the V). Odds are your mobo is not set right by default. BTW, cpuz and others will say 1/2 speed, i.e. 800MHz (but is 1600ddr).

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Memory

Pros: Performs well. This memory runs great at v1.9 7-7-7-24 which is platinum series timings.

Cons: Didn't run well at stock setting because the timings were only guaranteed as a single pair not in 2 pairs.

Other Thoughts: Most all memory of a particular type and grade such as the the DDR3 1333/1600Mhz come of the same line and are tested individually to gauge what timings and voltages they are capable of. Then they call and tag it whatever they wish based on the timings each stick or pair is capable of achieving in timings. With OCZ and these pairs are no exception you can go up to 1.95v and not lose your warranty as long as the voltage doesn't go over. However, I recommend not going over 1.90 to be safe. I used an Asus M4A79XTD-EVO to achieve mt timings and are holding smooth and steady. Probably a little room to improve upon however to ensure stability I'll stay where I'm at. Furthermore Low-Voltage memory comes off the same line as regular voltage memory, it was just simply tested to hold timings at a lower voltage and still be able to run.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's Alive! Alive!!!! :o)

Pros: Supremely Stable. No hiccups. If you are running the MSI 790FX-GD70..., this is "THE RAM." It's like they were made for each other. :o)

Cons: Unfortuantely, the oc speeds that this RAM is capable of: cannot be fully realized, at this time, due to limitations in CPU technology. The AMD chip just isn't quite there yet. Give it another year... by then I'm sure we'll be hitting the 2000 oc speeds. Then we'll see what this RAM can really do.

4 out of 5 eggsWork well with tweeked timings

Pros: Good and cheap memory. Allows for liberal tweeking of timing and voltage. If you run the chip at 1333 you can get your timing tighter and faster than if you ran at 1600. Check out OCZ support forums

Cons: Con is for AMD Phenom II X4s... The Phenom series chips ONLY SUPPORT 1333Mhz at stock speeds...

The OCZ folks take there sweet time responding to their tech forums and trouble tickets

Other Thoughts: It's not OCZ's problem dudes that your stock AMD chip won't run 1600. If you want to run this mem at 1600 you're going to need to overclock your CPU/FSB/HT and find a stable range for you particular rig.

1 out of 5 eggsStay Away

Pros: Well it gets high reviews and praise from other AMD users...

Cons: I ordered two sets of this (8gb total) for my MSI GD70 motherboard. I was having all sorts of issues getting my rig to run stable. I ended up running MemTest86 on each stick and 3 out of 4 sticks showed errors at the manufacturers suggested settings. This is pathetic. Spend $200 on RAM and they send you a this?! OCZ touts their quality control... I guess someone was asleep on the assembly line the day this stuff rolled by on the conveyor belt.

The RMA would not be that big of an issue for me if I could at least run a couple of the sticks in the meantime. But thanks to this poor OCZ quality control I am now without my desktop for a couple of weeks until I get the exchange.
Add to that I have to pay for postage I am not pleased AT ALL with OCZ.

I also do not like the fact that NewEgg will not allow me to exchange for another BRAND. The RMA has to be for the exact thing I ordered. This installs zero confidence in what I will get in return.

1 out of 5 eggs0 for 6

Pros: it looked cool

Cons: So i ordered 2 of these for my new comp build using a phenom quad and a gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P motherboard. When I first got it, everything booted up fine appeared to be no problems, then windows 7 kept crashing and couldnt get past a stability test. I started swapping sticks in and out one was dead, rma'd for a full refund ordered a replacement that day so i could get it next day. 3 weeks later would only randomly pass stability tests, and kept getting memory crashes on 7. RMA'd both and went with gskill Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ 2*2 gigs. I've never used gskill before, but since then everything is running smooth, no more errors, no more crashes, passing 12 hr stability tests. Avoid this RAM if you have a gigabyte motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Maybe this stuff works with other boards, but I've never had this much issue with any memory sticks before. Newegg was amazing though, i actually had to leave NY on an emergency and they honored my RMAs even though they were late.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry that you had difficulties with this product. We encourage Gigabyte customers to research and visit our support forums before purchasing memory, as some of the Gigabyte boards seem to have been "tuned" to run a specific memory chip type. Other boards with the same chipset and CPU run just fine, so this points to the BIOS code being the issue.
Thank you
