1 out of 5 eggsFYI, Mine Died Too

Pros: Drive seemed to work, it was fast. It sped up boot times, but not to the level you see on Windows machines.

Cons: I was running this drive on Linux in my home server, with all services which hit the drive turned off. Everything was peachy keen and it was fast, etc, for... 2 months? Maybe less. Then it just suddenly stopped working.

Other Thoughts: I was adding a PCI card at the time this died. Following all ESD procedures, but when I went to boot it up it was like the drive wasn't there, nothing saw it. Tried it without said card, same issue. Tried it in three or four other computers and stand alone drive bays, with no luck.

It's been sitting on my dresser since. DON'T PUT CRITICAL DATA ON AN SSD.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry for the difficulties. It would be tough to determine what caused this problem. Please visit the link below and create a support ticket to arrange for an RMA for a replacement drive. We are here to help and will be happy to assist you. Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsFirst solid state!

Pros: Good value and super fast. I have it currently set up as my boot drive and I've been pleased with it so far. I had to trim some fat from windows 7 to make the 30 gigs more manageable, ie. removing the hibernation file and trimming down the file paging allocation, but I believe it's a superb product.

Cons: For some reason, I would say 1 out of every 50 boots the bios fails to detect the drive. I'm not 100% sure if it's the motherboard or the SSD, but a quick reboot will fix it. Nothing major, just slightly annoying.

1 out of 5 eggsTempting... but stick with a higher quality!

Pros: Great price. I purchased two fro $39.99 each. I have them set up in a raid-0 and it rates 7.3 on Windows 7.

Cons: As mentioned in an earlier review this hard drive simply does not function in cool temperatures. When I get to my office in the morning it is about 55-60 degrees Fahrenheit. The hard drives completely stop working until they warm up. Just today I was watching my drive manager and C: disappeared! The blue screen of death soon followed. I was backing up 300GB of data at the time and it messed up the partition on my backup hard drive which I had to reformat. I decided to sandwich the SSDs between my HHD array to see if that'll keep it warm enough. Failed to mention that I had one of them die on me within the first day.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: I picked up this SSD on Newegg for a great price. Installed easily, recognized immediately, and 30GB is actually 30GB on this SSD. Mine shipped with firmware 1.6, but I was able to upgrade to 1.7 with no issues.

Cons: At this price point, none.

Other Thoughts: I'm using this in a media center PC that doesn't require much local storage because everything is stored on a server. Windows 7 takes up about half of the capacity (if you optimize Windows by disabling hibernation, system restore, etc.) so this is really the perfect capacity for this type of application.

5 out of 5 eggsI'm just amazed by this speed

Pros: - FAST.
- 64MB cache.
- Priced well.
- 7.0 WEI.
- No more defragging.
- Came with latest FW (1.7) pre-installed and a neat sticker to put on my case as a little bonus.
- 21GB free w/ only a fully updated Win 7 Ultimate x64 installed so far. If you like making a custom OS setup using programs, you can probably do even better, but I didn't really care.

Cons: - Comes with NO cables. Make sure you have a SATA cable and that your PSU has a SATA power connector before you buy.
- If you're using an OLD tower, you will also likely need to buy a 2.5" drive conversion bracket to be able to secure this in your case.

Other Thoughts: Disable the following to gain back much precious space:
Hibernation from the command line (google it), page file (if you have plenty of RAM), and System Restore.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Well

Pros: I had been looking for an SSD that was affordable for my desktop. I saw the OCZ Agility Series 30GB SSD for $40 on Wednesday so I got one. It is a nice little SSD for my desktop. I have an E8500 paired with this drive. The WEI for the SSD is 7.1 so it's not bad for old technology now with SATA lll SSDs on the market.

Cons: There are faster SSDs on the market, but it was cheap. It is still relatively fast.

Other Thoughts: I don't need a lot of storage as I have a 1 TB hdd, so the 30 GB OCZ has enough GBs for my system. I installed Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on the drive and I still had 17 GB of free space. After doing some of the tweaks for SSDs I ended up with 21 GB of free space.

AS SSD Benchmakr scores:

Read Write
Seq 183 MB/s 100 MB/s
4k 26 MB/s 9.17 MB/s
4k - 64 29.49 MB/s 9.60 MB/s
Acc Time 0.143 .413

The 4k write speeds are a bit slow compared to my Crucial M4, but it's still a quick drive.

1 out of 5 eggsNot good

Pros: Came as specified. Speed was as expected.

Cons: Unreliable. Drive constantly corrupting Windows 7 install. Updated firmware and still no improvement.

Other Thoughts: I've had an Indilinx Vertex 60GB for a couple years that has been rock solid. Looked like the Agility has the same controller but has been flaky.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little drives

Pros: Quick speed, works on OSX 10.6.8 and 10.7.1 (I Have NOT tried enabling trim). Is used as the boot and application drive where all home directories are stored on a standard 2.5 inch drive. Boot times and application load times are awesome on my mac minis

Cons: Small amount of size. But I knew this when I got them.

doesn't work with ata to sata adapter in imac 7,1. (lets you put a hdd in an ata DVD drive slot)

I thought about putting it in the 3.5 sata bay but it would of limited the amount of disk space in my imac.

I just hope these last a while since I don't do much writing to them. Only App installs and updates.

Other Thoughts: I have 2 of these in Mac mini's. A mini with gma 950 with 10.6.7. In this mac I moved the 2.5 inch hdd and put it in the ata to sata converter in the dvd slot spoke of earlier in cons and put the 30gb ssd on the sata port on the mainboard. Works great. On my 9400m mac mini with 10.7.1 I got a sata converter of some sort to stick it in the dvd drive slot area and it worked just fine with the 30gb ssd. Both boot fast and run fast. Makes me happy!

1 out of 5 eggsNot recommended

Pros: Inexpensive, fast

Cons: Unreliable

Other Thoughts: I've had this drive for two weeks in a Thinkpad T60 running Windows 7 Professional. Was working fine until suddenly going into System Repair at boot, and unable to repair drive. Thinkpad BIOS HDD test indicates read failure.

I pulled the drive and hooked it up in my computer and tried to run a CHKDSK, it hangs at 2 percent at ~23000 records block.

Ive had no problems for years with my Intel X25-V or the Crucial C300 I purchased in January 11' and I can recommend those, but not this. OCZ has earned a reputation for themselves, and knowing this, I still bit the bullet at $40 and regret doing so. Even if this company supports their products and offers RMA's, the fact is, you will lose your data like so many people here have, and this is supposedly one of their *more* reliable models.

I just don't know what happened. How the heck does this thing just die like that!?
