Rated for shocks up to 1500 Gs, this 30GB drive is almost half as tough as an airplane's "black box" (3400 Gs), is light weight and takes little power to run. With 1.5 million hours mean time between failures (MTBF), your drive and your data might outlive you. And the SATA interface and standard form factor make retrofitting this drive a breeze. Your computer will never notice the difference, but you probably will. But laptops are not the only computers to gain: any rugged environment, or any place you need an absolutely silent drive will benefit.

  • newegg SSD Storage Technology Acting without any moving parts, the OCZ Vertex Turbo OCZSSD2-1VTXT30G solid state disk (SSD) boasts multiple advanced features including zero mechanical noise, faster data rates compared to conventional HDDs, over 1.5-million-hour life span, ultra-low power consumption and impressive shock, vibration and extreme temperature resistance. With these breakthrough capabilities, the SSD meets all the demanding requirements for high-performance data storage.
  • newegg 2.5" Form Factor The OCZ Vertex Turbo OCZSSD2-1VTXT30G solid state disk is specifically designed for notebook computers equipped with a 2.5" SATA II drive bay.
  • newegg SATA 3.0 Gb/s Interface The OCZ Vertex Turbo OCZSSD2-1VTXT30G solid state disk features the next-generation SATA II interface supporting up to 3.0 Gb/s data transfer rates, Native Command Queuing (NCQ) and hot-pluggable point-to-point connections for optimum performance, efficiency, convenience and flexibility.

1 out of 5 eggsBuy if you like reformatting once a month

Pros: Fast load times.. well beats my raptor by a few seconds anyways.

Cons: I have 2 of these placed in raid 0. Seems at least once a month one of them fails and causes me to have to reformat.

Other Thoughts: SSD is not worth the money... at least OCZ ones. They are unstable and are not worth the 3-4 second gains on load times.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry for the difficulties. If we can be of assistance, please visit the link below and create a support ticket. Our staff will be happy to assist you. We care about our customers and are here to help. Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsfast

Pros: Win 7 WEI is rating the drive at 7.2, while HD Tune gave me average speed of 190MB/s. Max 220MB/s. Win 7 Ultimate 64 install took 13 minutes from black screen to usable screen. System with AMD Phenom II X4 840, 4GB RAM and ASUS M4NE mobo. SATA ports set to AHCI in bios.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsSweet!

Pros: Amazingly fast drive. Boots up in 10 seconds from the moment I press on Power Button. Can't wait until I can afford another for RAID 0. Great for the price!

Cons: Only 30GB size, but I use this drive to run Windows 7. Everything else is on a separate drive.

Other Thoughts: Wish it was big enough to hold all my games on it...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Speed

Pros: I am getting exactly what is posted on the specs for the device. It raised my WEI score to 6.8 and changed my boot time to 14 seconds

Cons: Small capacity

Other Thoughts: I would hold off until the price comes down unless you don't store much data on your computer. I use this for a portable laptop for internet access only.

2 out of 5 eggsTOTALLY overhyped. Product SUCKS

Pros: Is working.

Cons: This thing is SIGNIFICANTLY slower than my Raptor RAID 0 setup. It's VERY expensive for what you get. You are MUCH better off running a RAID 0 SATA setup than this. Also, OCZ doesn't respond to technical support requests, so you have THAT to look forward to. A company that doesn't stand behind its products.

Other Thoughts: This is NOT a good use of money. No idea how anyone is posting to Windows in 10 seconds. I have a FRESH install of Windows 7 64-bit, 4ghz processor, 6 gigs of RAM, and it's much closer to 30 seconds. I'd like to see a video of 7 seconds to a useable desktop.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry that you are having speed issues. We are always available to help our customers. Please visit our support forums at the link below for assistance with your application. You may also create a support ticket to get in touch with our support staff at the support link below.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and small!

Pros: I built up my first Computer VS rebuilding old ones. I Went with this drive because It was on sale but it turned out to be a huge blessing!

It has reduced the boot time for my desktop down to 20 seconds or so, the only thing faster is my laptop returning from Sleep mode!

Cons: only 30Gb??? LOL

Other Thoughts: Great little drive and I got it for a bit more than 2 bucks per Gb. Can't wait until these drives get down under a buck per Gb. (or even to $100 per Tb like a sata drive!

5 out of 5 eggsVERY quick

Pros: As stated before, with my i7 @ 2.93 Ghz, the drive lives up to the name turbo. Installed Win7 ult x64, and many other programs that were under a few GB total and I still have 12 GB to spare for updates and whatnot in the future. XP had a total of about 2-4 GB of updates in its lifespan, and I would expect Win7 to have about the same.

Cons: Still pricey, but it is probably cheaper than a new Sandforce drive.
No mounting bracket installed (just use electrical tape)

Other Thoughts: This is probably one of the best drives at this 30 gb size on the market, you could go bigger if you wanted to throw games on an SSD, but that seemed a bit unneccessary since it only increases performance by a tad in the Game department. Otherwise, this is a great Indilinx drive that has been slightly overclocked to help with random reads/writes.

3 out of 5 eggsSSD not silver bullet

Pros: Quite, worked right out of the box...used ghost to move my drive info from old 5400rpm sata. Had to use parted magic to resize partitions to fit 30GB. used to speed up touchscreen eepc (15")...It did not change XP experience by much...I think a 7400RPM drive would have done more for less money.

Cons: Well, not sure SSD technology delivers on promise (at least not for netbook type technologies (n270 or N440 CPU). Really not much of a con...but i think we have sometime to go with SSD.

Other Thoughts: If i had to do it again... probably would not buy eepc touchscreen...the N270 and N440 are very slow chips...not really usable for day to day activities
