5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast, works well, good for the price

Cons: With the heat sink on the ram it has like a metal mesh thing on it, which dust seems to get caught in and it is hard to clean.

1 out of 5 eggsFrustrating (Update)

Pros: Cheaper than an alternative memory

Cons: I read through a hundreds to thousands of forum entries on the ocz web support site and else where. Since the XMP settings were not stable, I had to manually set the timings, dram voltage, qpi, etc and it worked better but still eventually failed under heavy processing load.

I FINALLY gave up. I bought some G Skill 4gb dual channel sticks and they worked great. MUCH better than these OCZ ones. I just chose the XMP settings and voila everything worked. No crashes, no manual changes, no endless searches on google.

When I originally bought these OCZ sticks the comparable G Skill sticks were sold out...and were ever so slightly more. Oh, how I wish I would have waited. Dealing with these OCZ memory has been nothing but frustration! ...and they were never stable under super heavy processing load. I mean, I guess as long as all my computer had to do was display a screen saver there would be no problem. But, that is not what I do with my computer.

Other Thoughts: This is the LAST time I buy an OCZ product. I should have known better.

1 out of 5 eggsnot so good

Pros: none

Cons: 2 RMA's and the third set was bad. The card I got for the mail in rebate isn't recognized, and after several attempts with both the card company and OCZ, no resolution. The third set of RAM crashed so bad, I needed to reinstall everything and re-flash my BIOS.

Other Thoughts: I didn't buy from NewEgg, but the quality is so poor and I have been treated so badly, I think others should know.

2 out of 5 eggsFrustrating!!!!

Pros: It provides a basic function

Cons: I've had this for a year. The computer I put this in would crash when I tried to do various video editing functions on it. I had thought for the longest time it was due to driver issues as when I didn't do video editing everything else worked fine and never crashed HOWEVER every time i tried video editing it crashed. WELL, long story short I spent more time researching this and it turns out that I shouldn't be using the XMP profile and should use Auto settings, with DRAM voltage of 1.64vand QPI/DRAM core voltage of 1.35v. This has the consequence of knocking the speed down down....but atleast I can do video editing and it works. Interestingly, I did all sorts of memory checks and everything came back fine. So, if you are having problems don't just think it is a driver, try changing the memory settings and totally disregard the XMP settings for these modules.

Other Thoughts: I should have bought G Skill or Corsair. It is tempting to save money, but in the long run it is not worth the headache!!!!!

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry that you have experienced issues. XMP profiles depend on the system BIOS to function, and can occasionally be problematic. For critical applications we do recommend manual settings. We will be happy to suggest system settings to get your system running at it best. Please visit our support forums at the link below. Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsFast, works, great value

Pros: I have six sticks of these. This is some sweet RAM! Out of the box, your PC may not set the timing right, don't blame OCZ blame your BIOS. These ran perfectly well out of the box on an ASUS P6X58D Premium mobo with an i7-960. SPD profile, the BIOS choose the JEDEC #3 profile, which is the "safe" 1066 profile. It ran fine.

Then I changed the profile in BIOS to the XMP 1600 profile and these ran at full speed and correct timing. I ran these for a time with the 1866 profile that OCZ has available, and they ran fine, cool enough and blazing fast.

Finally, I settled into a nice OC on my CPU and these are running at just under 1700 with the stock 8-8-8-24 timings.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If you're going to run anything faster than 'safe' 1066 RAM, make sure and spend some time on Google learning about SPD and XMP profiles in your BIOS. I have over 30 years of computer building experience (yes, I pre-date the IBM PC) and this memory is unusually easy to set up and rock solid stable.

Even if you don't know much about the tech side, if you can at least go into your BIOS and choose the XMP profile, you will get full rated timings.

1 out of 5 eggsStrike 1, Strike 2, ...

Pros: Hmm ... no Pros if it does not work.

Cons: Will NOT run at rated speed.

First set would not pass Memtest as it had one bad stick (out of 3).

RMAed them and things got worse. Two of the sticks failed Memtest and I got random BSOD even trying to run a slower speeds.

I purchased Patriot Sector 7 DDR3 memory, installed them in my computer and everything works perfect.

Other Thoughts: OCZ need to get their act together on their RAM. Look at the reviews on this product and see what I mean.

5 out of 5 eggsGood RAM, great service

Pros: Runs as advertised.

Cons: 1 of the sticks was bad from the getgo. I started the RMA process on Monday, shipped back on Wednesday, and received the replacement on Tuesday morning via FedEx; installed the new memory and it worked fine.

That is about as hassle free as possible even if I was out about 5 dollars for shipping.

Other Thoughts: I'm using it at 9-9-9-28 at 1800 Mhz. (2:10, 1.65v, i7 920@3.6 Ghz.) on an Asrock X58 Extreme motherboard.

This yields a Windows 7 experience of 7.9 for memory!
