1 out of 5 eggsDon't Waste Your Money

Pros: Fast read and write speeds when it works

Cons: I had this unit less than 6 months and had a drive failure. It caused my system to hang as well as corrupted my data files.

Other Thoughts: I worked with OCZ on this unit and they issued a replacement. They replaced this unit, which I paid $1,000 for with a "New" OCZ RevoDrive 3 series RVD3-FHPX4-240G that sells on Newegg for $559. Was told that the price difference was because the cost of new technology continues to get better at a lower price....

Well the "OCZ RevoDrive 3 series RVD3-FHPX4-240G" just failed less than 30 days after being installed. Waiting to hear from OCZ on this second failure

1 out of 5 eggsUnreliable

Pros: Extremely fast performance! Quiet.

Cons: First Drive - DOA; Second Drive experienced intermittent RAID failure (one of the four drives reported missing). Reseating the card and memory seemed to help. Intermittent failures continued more frequently. After 10 months, every other week. Finally the system partition became corrupt, yet the drive works on and off. This drive is not worth the hassle!

Other Thoughts: Save your money, and buy a Crucial product!

1 out of 5 eggsNot reliable

Pros: Fast

Cons: We purchased 4 of these 90 days ago. 3 out of 4 have failed! Each at about 2 1/2 months of usage. All were in Dell Win 2003 servers in a well air-conditioned server room. 2 Failed in our main file server, 1 failed in a secondary SQL server. All are going back for a refund! I look bad for recommending them!

Other Thoughts: Don't use these in mission-critical systems. I was really shocked at the failure rate. There is absolutely no way these should be rated at 1,000,000 hour MTBF!

OCZ's tech support was useless, with comments like "Call us back if you figure out a solution", or "maybe you could try a driver for a different card" (would not work).

5 out of 5 eggsWhy not OCZ RevoDrive X2 instead?

Pros: - Internal optimization (Garbage Collection),
- Great choice if considered before end of October.

Cons: - Price: OCZ RevoDrive X2 has similar sequential speeds, almost 3x sustained speed and IOPS (using SandForce controller). This especially because Revo might in the future support Trim and currently has some internal optimization (GC according to MaximumPC).

Other Thoughts: - We've seen SandForce chips at other vendor's SSD (SATA version), which showed high numbers on selected benchmarks
- Could have saved $400 getting Revo instead.

5 out of 5 eggsTHE WAIT IS OVER!

Coming Soon!

Pros: Fast! Easy to Set Up, No Wires, Quiet, Little Heat, oh yea and FAST!

Cons: Cost $$$$

Other Thoughts: Card is exact same width as 4870 X2 (GPU). Was a little scary slipping it behind water cooling line off (GPU) card cooler. Had to loosen Xfire setup to sneek it behind the line. Very close but perfect fit. Was a little nervous for a bit but didn't have to drain system anyway. Could have used three hands.

4 out of 5 eggsThis Baby ROCKS!!

Pros: Passmark Hardrive benchmark give it a sustained read of 334MB/s and sustained write of 364MB/s on my system and that's before any tweeking.

Cons: If you are trying to use this is a Windows XP Pro 32 or 64bit system then save yourself a lot of frustration and don't even try the OCZ drivers. To use this card as a boot drive, you of course have to load the drivers on the initial load (F6) screen and it will tell you that there is a problem with line 31 of the driver file when using the 64 bit driver. I backed off and tried to load XP Pro 32 bit using the 32 bit driver and even though the driver was recognized correctly and even loaded correctly, when it got to the disk selection/partition screen the drive was not seen? I wasted a good 3/4 hours trouble shooting by changing PCI Express slots, bios settings and even a different mobo. I finally gave up and called OCZ Tech support and got through amazingly fast. They suggested I try the LSI driver for the card (LSI SAS1068E). Worked perfectly! Dropped an Egg because I believe OCZ should have a working drivers available.

Other Thoughts: The card will fit in either of your SLI/CrossFire slots. My mobo runs the first card 16x but the second card only at 4X when both slots are populated. I though the 4X might cause a reduction in performance so I put it in the first slot (16x) and my used the second slot for my Video card. There was absolutely no difference in Passmark scoring for the OCZ Z-Drive but the video performance really fell off. Obviously it seems to make no difference in performance when slotted in a 16x, 8x, or 4x slot.

5 out of 5 eggsRead this, not that

Pros: The guy below does not know anything, first of all he says he has high tech knowledge ya right and i am Bill Gates. First off the number system in Windows only goes to 7.9 my drive shows as 7.7 there is no 9.8. Next IT WILL Fit in a pci e x16 slot, it only uses the first part of the slot.
This drive is fast I have a different model # but it still fly's.

Cons: It takes about 18 seconds for the BIOS to load the drive, but after that you are good to go.

Other Thoughts: This drive is fast I have a different model # but it still fly's.

5 out of 5 eggsinsane

Pros: yo this thing blows with my rig with an over clocked am6 and quad fire graphics setup my system rocks.. my computer score before was 7.8 now my score is 9.8 .. my computer now is wicked fast

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: they should make this thing in a pci express 16 setup would be more faster.. but does not work in a 16 lane you only can use it on a 8 lane slot
