Based on a cutting-edge new architecture, Agility 2 Solid State Drives deliver unprecedented performance while maintaining an affordable storage solution for early adopters looking to update their systems with the latest technology. OCZ designed the Agility 2 to excel in both sequential and random read/write rates to take your PC or notebook productivity to the next level, featuring superb 4k random writes up to 10,000 IOPS to give a performance edge over the previous generation. Using the latest controller technology, Agility 2 not only provides a faster, more responsive PC experience, but promotes cooler, quieter, and more energy efficient conditions compared to traditional mechanical hard drives.

With solid performance coupled with supreme reliability, the Agility 2 is designed to push the envelope in storage technology for those who place a premium on speed, reliability and efficiency, but demand the affordability of MLC flash memory. Built with SATA 3Gb/s, the Agility 2 Series easily integrates into today’s mobile and desktop platforms and features TRIM support to optimize performance over the drive’s lifespan as the ultimate Windows 7 notebook or desktop upgrade.

  • newegg Cool, quiet and durable operation OCZ Agility 2 SSDs feature a durable yet lightweight housing, and because they have no moving parts, they are more rugged than conventional hard discs. Available in ample 40GB to 480GB capacities, the Agility 2 is an ideal hard drive replacement for first-time SSD upgraders in need of primary desktop storage or a spacious application and OS boot drive.
  • newegg Ultimate reliability Designed for ultimate reliability, Agility 2 Series SSDs have an excellent 2 million hour mean time between failure (MTBF) ensuring peace of mind over the long term. Agility 2 Series comes backed by a 3-year warranty and award-winning technical support for the ultimate peace of mind.
  • newegg TRIM Support The OCZ Agility 2 Series SSDs offer native TRIM support that can be enabled in Windows 7. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.
  • newegg 2.5" to 3.5" Adapter Included The OCZ Agility 2 Series is specifically designed for notebook computers coming in a 2.5-inch hard drive form factor. In addition, the installation kit includes a 2.5" to 3.5" bracket for matching with 3.5” drive bay to extend the storage of your desktop computer.

Pros: Quick Boot

Cons: Bought this SSD in April of 2011 but did not actually use it for several months after. Had no problems until it died at the end of Dec. 2012. The computer it was installed in had very light use so I was surprised it didn't last longer. I think I'll try the Samsung.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsDied after two years of light usage

Pros: Speed and power consumption

Cons: This drive utilizes the Sandforce controller that has a history of failing...

Other Thoughts: Bought this drive in December of 2010, I'm writing this in December of 2012. The drive has less than 3000 power on hours, and has been in the same system for it's entire life.

2 out of 5 eggsWould not recommend this brand

Pros: Faster than platter drives.

Cons: Was not as fast as many benchmarks tested these drives to be.

Dependability

Other Thoughts: This drive failed 2 days ago, was purchased on 3/4/2011, my first OCZ SSD failed over a year ago as well.

There is not much to say, the drive worked as expected but there does not seem to be much dependability with OCZ drives built with the SF controllers. I knew before buying that SSD's had high failure rates.

Other people I know that have bought SSD's at the time I bought these have not experienced any failures up to this point, they did not buy OCZ SSD's.

I do not regret buying SSD's that fail, I've bought 2 more since these OCZ's, I regret them being OCZ drives.

1 out of 5 eggsUPDATE TO: 6/10/2011 5:32:34 PM

Pros: None

Cons: RMA drive died in the same amount of time that my original did. Just made a ticket with OCZ in an attempt to get a refund instead of another piece of garbage that will die in six months.

If I don't get a refund I will definitely be filing a complaint with the BBB since OCZ apparently thinks it is okay to sell trash and then deny that they are selling trash.

Other Thoughts: Stay away from OCZ until they learn to care about their customers and the quality of their products.

1 out of 5 eggsUnreliable

Pros: Great when it works.

Cons: Cold boot bug sucks.

Other Thoughts: I just submitted my 5th RMA. Four for cold boot bugs (SSD no longer recognized in BIOS, essentially bricked with loss of all data requiring RMA). One where the RMA was DOA.

I also own a Crucial M4, Kingston V100+, Two Intel SSDs, a Vertex 3, Agility 3 in the 60GB version, and a Corsair Force SSD. None of the other drives cause a problem.

This Agility 2 (now Agility 3 after my 3rd RMA where OCZ bumped it up for free) has been horrible because of this bug. I will NEVER EVER buy a Sandforce SSD again.

1 out of 5 eggsDrive didn't even make it a year.

Pros: Low price

Cons: Everything else

Other Thoughts: I purchased the drive on 2/22/11. I used it for about four months in my main PC until I upgraded to the Crucial Force GT SSD. Months later (around Nov, 2011) I repurposed the drive and put it in my media center. Drive used for less than 8 additional months for a total use time of less than a year. When booting into Windows 7, drive freezes Windows and orange / amber LED light activates on the back of the drive. Only option at this point is to shut down computer and cut it back on, which is pointless, since the only thing that happens is another freeze-up at desktop.

Complete garbage, OCZ should be ashamed of not doing a complete recall of these trashy drives.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks flawlessly

Pros: Installed this SSD in my Dell XPS 16 laptop in August 2010 and I never had a problem.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: 120 GB is borderline for a Window 7 install, if you also need office and other productivity programs. Also using SSD for my Macbook and there 120 GB is borderline too. I guess I need to take the step up to 240 GB...

1 out of 5 eggsWaiting on 3rd drive now

Pros: Cost but you need to include the shipping for all the RMA'n of all the drives you will be doing.

Cons: Once you have 1 you have to upgrade every computer and with 2 drives to make sure if it does fail that you don;t lose your data.

Other Thoughts: I believe the fault may be in the controller they use though.

Manufacturer Response:

We sincerely aplogize for the difficulties. Multiple failures likely indicate setup issues. Please visit the link below and post in our support forms for assistance. We care about customers and are here to help.
