Based on a cutting-edge new architecture, Agility 2 Solid State Drives deliver unprecedented performance while maintaining an affordable storage solution for early adopters looking to update their systems with the latest technology. OCZ designed the Agility 2 to excel in both sequential and random read/write rates to take your PC or notebook productivity to the next level, featuring superb 4k random writes up to 10,000 IOPS to give a performance edge over the previous generation. Using the latest controller technology, Agility 2 not only provides a faster, more responsive PC experience, but promotes cooler, quieter, and more energy efficient conditions compared to traditional mechanical hard drives.

With solid performance coupled with supreme reliability, the Agility 2 is designed to push the envelope in storage technology for those who place a premium on speed, reliability and efficiency, but demand the affordability of MLC flash memory. Built with SATA 3Gb/s, the Agility 2 Series easily integrates into today’s mobile and desktop platforms and features TRIM support to optimize performance over the drive’s lifespan as the ultimate Windows 7 notebook or desktop upgrade.

  • newegg Cool, quiet and durable operation OCZ Agility 2 SSDs feature a durable yet lightweight housing, and because they have no moving parts, they are more rugged than conventional hard discs. Available in ample 40GB to 480GB capacities, the Agility 2 is an ideal hard drive replacement for first-time SSD upgraders in need of primary desktop storage or a spacious application and OS boot drive.
  • newegg Ultimate reliability Designed for ultimate reliability, Agility 2 Series SSDs have an excellent 2 million hour mean time between failure (MTBF) ensuring peace of mind over the long term. Agility 2 Series comes backed by a 3-year warranty and award-winning technical support for the ultimate peace of mind.
  • newegg TRIM Support The OCZ Agility 2 Series SSDs offer native TRIM support that can be enabled in Windows 7. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.
  • newegg 2.5" to 3.5" Adapter Included The OCZ Agility 2 Series is specifically designed for notebook computers coming in a 2.5-inch hard drive form factor. In addition, the installation kit includes a 2.5" to 3.5" bracket for matching with 3.5” drive bay to extend the storage of your desktop computer.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks flawlessly

Pros: Installed this SSD in my Dell XPS 16 laptop in August 2010 and I never had a problem.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: 120 GB is borderline for a Window 7 install, if you also need office and other productivity programs. Also using SSD for my Macbook and there 120 GB is borderline too. I guess I need to take the step up to 240 GB...

1 out of 5 eggsWaiting on 3rd drive now

Pros: Cost but you need to include the shipping for all the RMA'n of all the drives you will be doing.

Cons: Once you have 1 you have to upgrade every computer and with 2 drives to make sure if it does fail that you don;t lose your data.

Other Thoughts: I believe the fault may be in the controller they use though.

Manufacturer Response:

We sincerely aplogize for the difficulties. Multiple failures likely indicate setup issues. Please visit the link below and post in our support forms for assistance. We care about customers and are here to help.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, awesome

Pros: It's fast. I only have an SATA II (3gb/sec) device, so it easily maxed out my board. You'll primarily notice it when your computer boots.

Cons: Poor/non-existent documentation. You'll receive a speed boost if you set your computer to use AHCI SATA instead of IDE. The documentation doesn't mention that, and it's a pain to do (though still possible) after installing your OS.

Other Thoughts: The firmware is up to date as of 2/18/12 (version 2.15) so there's no longer a need to update the firmware suggested in so many previous posts. I've only had it for a few days. I'll change my review if the drive goes bad, but so far I'd recommend it to anyone.

I've had an OCZ "Solid" SSD for 6 months now and had no issues. It seems like they have the kinks worked out.

If you've never owned an SSD, now is the time to take the plunge. The Agility is a great one to be your first.

1 out of 5 eggsDied after 9 months - Horrible Customer service

Pros: I was fast and affordable when I bought it.

Cons: It died 9 months after. All data lost, now I am battling with OCZ's RMA process to get a ticket. Process is clearly designed to prevent you from returning any defective product. No more OCZ for me.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat until it died

Pros: reasonably fast

Cons: died after a couple of months, ocz tool box will not update the drive with intel rst 10 series drivers installed

Other Thoughts: I purchased this drive back in May 11 to replace another sf2 ssd that had failed. This drive while not as fast as that other drive had been trouble free up until the other day when it failed without notice. I'm currently waiting for ocz to respond to my rma request so I can get the drive replaced. If you're in the market for a ssd I'd steer clear of the sf2 based models.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed Again

Pros: Not sure fast is a pro anymore when it fails repeatedly

Cons: Failed within a couple of months and RMA'd. Process was simple. Received second one. Lasted until now. Same symptoms, stops responding, eventually just disappears. Constant reboots required. I currently have it in a USB portable drive trying to pull the data off slowly.

Purchased a Corsair on the same day 2/22/2011. That one is flawless.

I figured the first time I received a lemon and it was bad luck. Now it's number two. Bad luck twice? Maybe. Quality control issues...most likely. Annoying definitely.

Other Thoughts: Unfortunately for OCZ I will not be purchasing any of their products in the future.
