Based on a cutting-edge new architecture, Agility 2 Solid State Drives deliver unprecedented performance while maintaining an affordable storage solution for early adopters looking to update their systems with the latest technology. OCZ designed the Agility 2 to excel in both sequential and random read/write rates to take your PC or notebook productivity to the next level, featuring superb 4k random writes up to 10,000 IOPS to give a performance edge over the previous generation. Using the latest controller technology, Agility 2 not only provides a faster, more responsive PC experience, but promotes cooler, quieter, and more energy efficient conditions compared to traditional mechanical hard drives.

With solid performance coupled with supreme reliability, the Agility 2 is designed to push the envelope in storage technology for those who place a premium on speed, reliability and efficiency, but demand the affordability of MLC flash memory. Built with SATA 3Gb/s, the Agility 2 Series easily integrates into today’s mobile and desktop platforms and features TRIM support to optimize performance over the drive’s lifespan as the ultimate Windows 7 notebook or desktop upgrade.

  • newegg Cool, quiet and durable operation OCZ Agility 2 SSDs feature a durable yet lightweight housing, and because they have no moving parts, they are more rugged than conventional hard discs. Available in ample 40GB to 480GB capacities, the Agility 2 is an ideal hard drive replacement for first-time SSD upgraders in need of primary desktop storage or a spacious application and OS boot drive.
  • newegg Ultimate reliability Designed for ultimate reliability, Agility 2 Series SSDs have an excellent 2 million hour mean time between failure (MTBF) ensuring peace of mind over the long term. Agility 2 Series comes backed by a 3-year warranty and award-winning technical support for the ultimate peace of mind.
  • newegg TRIM Support The OCZ Agility 2 Series SSDs offer native TRIM support that can be enabled in Windows 7. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.
  • newegg 2.5" to 3.5" Adapter Included The OCZ Agility 2 Series is specifically designed for notebook computers coming in a 2.5-inch hard drive form factor. In addition, the installation kit includes a 2.5" to 3.5" bracket for matching with 3.5” drive bay to extend the storage of your desktop computer.

1 out of 5 eggsRMA lasted 7 months

Pros: Fast when it works

Cons: I'm the one with the review dated "6/17/2011 6:41:01 AM"

I recieved an RMA drive about two weeks after that failure. Today my "new" drive failed with the same symptoms and indicators - nothing... Laptop running fine, turn off, turn on, undectable in BIOS.

Other Thoughts: No more OCZ for me. Their support forums are full of people having failures and crazy workarounds suggested by the moderators. "Take the drive out, let it sit for a day", "Reset CMOS, hold jumper on pins for an hour", "Press Up-Up-Down-Down-Left-Right-Left-Right-A-B"

1 out of 5 eggsWrong Drive Sent

Pros: None. Newegg sent me a 60Gb drive when I ordered a 240Gb. The packaging materials say 60Gb in two places and 240Gb on a sticker under the UPC code, but the drive is a 60Gb and I paid for the 240Gb

Other Thoughts: The online chat said it would take about 5 days to resolve this, and meanwhile they refuse to send me the correct drive as a replacement for this one.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid

Pros: It worked for 6 Months

Cons: It worked for only 6 Months

Other Thoughts: I have deployed over 50 SSD in our corporate environment; thankfully this was the only OCZ Agility 2 we had. After having problems with this and another OCZ SSD, I will not buy an OCZ product again.....ever.

3 out of 5 eggsNot worth $400

Pros: Does boot my g73 laptop less than 10 seconds and has been working fine so far while i'm on my 2nd month with it.

Cons: Not really sure if it's worth the price for just having 10 seconds of boot time. I've kinda noticed a small improvement in game loading by a few seconds but not as much as I was hoping for on a hard drive that costs $400. I was testing it out with skyrim, tf2 and some other games vs my buddies laptop which had a 7500rpm drive and loading time was pretty much the same.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, system bottle necks such as processing and buss speeds can often throttle back the effect of having lightning fast access to your data. We will be happy to advise you on system setup on our support forums at the link below. Please pay us a visit. Thank you

1 out of 5 eggsNot Reliable at all

Pros: None

Cons: Not reliable at all.

Died with in 9 months of ligh use.

System can not detect the drive.

Not sure how long will it take to get a replacement. And I do not want to have the same drive again. Hopefully OCZ will send a newer drive.

5 out of 5 eggsHUGE Performance Boost! Simply AMAZING!

Pros: The hard drive is simply amazing.
My WEI went from a 5.4, to a 7.4.
Programs and apps load almost instantly.
It takes my system about 10 seconds or less to boot, from BIOS post to Windows 7 login screen.

Cons: Had some difficulties installing Windows 7 on it at first, but I suspect that was something to do with either A) My DVD, or B) The Motherboard.

Either way, I wouldn't really consider it that big of a con, as it was an easy fix.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade their system for speed. You can most definitely see the performance increase.

However, if you do not have decent computer specs, then I would recommend just sticking to standard HDDs.

Computer specs:
C2Q: Q6600 @ 2.4ghz default (2.7 OC, will go further soon when I get my new PSU)
8GB (2x4GB G.SKILL Ripjaws @ 1333mhz DDR3)
OCZ Agility II 240GB
nVidia GeForce GTS 250
CORSAIR CWCH50-1 Liquid Cooling

1 out of 5 eggs6 months and failed

Pros: Fast speeds, fast boot times, no moving parts.

Cons: I've had this drive in my Lattitude e6410 for just over 6 months without an issue at all. Until I powered off as I do at the end of every work day. When I got home and powered up, I was greeted with a "No boot device found". The drive is unrecognized in the BIOS on two computers, and if I boot up a live linux CD and force a scan of the drive, it fails badly.

Other Thoughts: No warning, no errors, just a quick death. If we look up to the manufacturers details of the drive, focus on this wording... "supreme reliability". What a crock of ad-linguistics. These SSD drives are no more reliable than a spinning hard drive, they're also next to impossible to recover any data from in a failure... unlike a spinning disk. More ad-verbage... "Ultimate reliability
Designed for ultimate reliability, Agility 2 Series SSDs have an excellent 2 million hour mean time between failure (MTBF) ensuring peace of mind over the long term. Agility 2 Series comes backed by a 3-year warranty and award-winning technical support for the ultimate peace of mind. " My drive had at most 4000 hours of life before failure. A single Windows 7 install on the drive, no defragmentation running. ULTIMATE RELIABILITY? No. Not at all. Hey OCZ, want someone to tell you that it truely is "ULTIMATE RELIABILITY"? Send me back my data when the RMA is complete.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are very sorry for the difficulties. Our support staff will see that you get a replacement drive as quickly as possible. Thank you

4 out of 5 eggsPleased with product but required a rebuild.

Pros: Bought it in December 2010 (from a retail store) for a gaming pc and have had no problems at all. My gf had me put one into her 'supercomputer' I built for her and I got jealous enough to want one for myself. Since we both run Win 7 Ultimate, '7' automatically did all the tweeking people tell you is needed. I'm in the process of ordering a second (from NewEgg) and will see if I can 'extend' the original drive for a combined 480 GB to hold more games.

Cons: Not really a fault of the drive but worth noting. You have to do a rebuild if you ran HDD's before. I tried all kinds of things to avoid it, but nothing worked. It would be nice if someone came up with a decent conversion kit.

Not all mobos, operating systems are made for SSD so check for 'support' before you buy.

Also, I bought it to try to run Metro 2033 on high. While it did significantly boost the fps for this resource hungry game, it still would not run on highest settings and in The Library I still had to cut way back to get decent fps. Maybe SATA III SSD and a cpu running 4 ghz would do it but I'm not ready to upgrade for just one game.

Other Thoughts: I'm running it in a gaming pc with Win 7 64 bit Ultimate an Asus P6T Deluxe V2 mobo with an i7-920 cpu OC'd to 3.71 and dual GTX 580's gpu's. Watching resources, it seems like the hard drives just could not keep up with Metro 2033. SSD is much better but still the most overworked resource.
