The OCZ RevoDrive makes fast, faster with an innovative performance design that pushes the envelope in solid state technology and leaves hard drives in the dust. Moving beyond the bottleneck of the SATA interface, the RevoDrive features a PCIe interface to deliver superior performance. Designed for high-performance gaming PCs and workstations, the RevoDrive dominates thanks to the unique capability to run both Windows and your essential applications and games. With speeds up to 540MBps and 75,000 IOPS, this bootable PCI-Express SSD not only provides a more responsive PC experience, but promotes cooler, quieter, and more energy efficient conditions compared to traditional mechanical hard drives. The RevoDrive can accommodate a wide range of computing environments such as video-editing and other multi-media creation and management, all while providing the superior durability and reliability of SSDs.

  • newegg SSD Storage Technology Unlike traditional hard disk drives, SSDs have no moving parts, resulting in a quiet, cool, highly reliable storage solution that also offers faster application loading and system responsiveness. And for laptops and netbooks, the lower power needs of SSDs translate to extended battery life. Higher performance with more durability means you can be truly mobile with confidence.
  • newegg Incredibly Fast Performance The RevoDrive family gets its edge by employing a PCIe x4 interface (1GB/s bandwidth as opposed to 3Gb/s of SATA II) and two SandForce-1200 controllers in RAID 0 design to maximize data access and bandwidth. Therefore the RevoDrive SSDs (120GB-480GB) feature up to 540 MB/s read & 480 MB/s write speeds, up to 400 MB/s sustained write speed, and incredible random write up to 75,000 IOPS (4KB Aligned).
  • newegg Bootable The OCZ RevoDrive is powered by the PCI-Express bus and OS bootable allowing for use as the primary boot drive and super-fast system startup. (Motherboard supporting boot over PCI-E is required.)

2 out of 5 eggsNice while it worked!

Pros: Was fast.

Cons: Didn't work very long. I hardly used the computer it was in (installed in Mar 2011, failed Sept 2012). Mostly for internet, pictures and video (viewing not editing).

Other Thoughts: Not impressed with the failure rate, as I have looked it up online, I see many have had the same issue.

2 out of 5 eggsThird Failures a Charm

Pros: Fast when it worked

Cons: 100% Failure Rate. Have gone through 3 drive in little more than 2 Years

Other Thoughts: I 1st purchased this item back in august 2010. Unit Lasted only 6 months and had to RMA the 1st one to OCZ. Got the 2nd unit & come april 2012, I was sending the 2nd one back to OCZ cause one of the 2 Drives in the array failed. Here I am again in October. And my 3rd one has failed on me. I'm gonna end up having to go in a different direction

1 out of 5 eggsWorst drive you can have!!!

Pros: It is a very fast drive, because it is in raid 0+1 mode 55gb x2.

Cons: I had always backed up my files and stayed away from leaving files on SSD. This time I delayed it a bit by 2 months and had worked on various website projects and documents and forgot to back up. I turn off pc at night and turn on in the morning to see that one of my raids was missing in the bios and a red light on the revodrive. I called the manufacturer and they told me all they can do is replace it. I need my data back!! I could care less about your revodrive. I went to recovery secure center and they told me that they might recover, but it will cost around $800-$4,500. OCZ Maybe you wanna chip in?

Other Thoughts: I hate people that use consumers as guinea pigs to test there products.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat new but issues with aging

Pros: Very fast load times
Reliable within the first year

Overall with routine maintenance (see cons) it is still reliable, going into 17 months.

Cons: Even with a listed confirmed compatible MB, after about 10 months the drive started to have corrupted files including the file system causing Windows to not load. 16 months of use I had to repair Windows 3 times due to the corruption.

I have found that this is avoidable with monthly chkdsk on the drive to fix all the corrupted files.

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 (rev. 2.0) - OCZ listed as compatible with RevoDrive
Intel Core i7-970 @ 3.2GHz
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 12GB (3 x 4GB)
Crossfire 3 GPUs: PowerColor Radeon HD 6870 x2 2GB & XFX Radeon HD 6870 2GB
NZXT 1000W PSU
Windows & BF3: OCZ RevoDrive 120GB PCI-E x4
Drives for other games & software:
Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB SATA III
OCZ Agility 3 120GB SATA III
General Storage: Western Digital 2TB Caviar Green SATA III

1 out of 5 eggsOCZ RevoDrive OCZSSDPX

1 out of 5 eggsPure Pain

Pros: Very fast for the brief moments it works before crashing.

Cons: Crashes very shortly after installing windows 7 Professional

Other Thoughts: I am on my 3rd re-install of windows and now must give up on this drive because it has exhausted my patience. There are soooo many errors that show up on the first reboot after a clean windows install that its absurd. Bought it a year and a half ago....wish I had stuck with a tried and true HDD instead. Wasted $300 on this and am VERY disgusted. Lets see how OCZ handles this...lets hope its a positive outcome.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective

Pros: Cost to Speed ratio.

Cons: This one had to be replaced. The 2nd unit also failed after a few months.

Other Thoughts: NTFS and SSD aren't a good combination. NTFS is a journalling file system and constantly writes (a journal) to the drive (to help recover from system reset/restart or crash recovery).

2 out of 5 eggsFail 246 days running time

Pros: Really fast. The drive worked great for a little over a year.

Cons: I contacted OCZ RAM 3 days ago and haven't gotten an RMA issued yet. The drive is unusable. Other manufactures issue RMAs instantly.

Other Thoughts: The drive is showing (SMART) powered on :246 days, Power Cycles: 622 (thanks windows update) bad sectors:384 + 288 This drive was used for windows and a few games. No personal data was ever stored on this drive.
If downtime is an issue the RMA process is too slow to consider OCZ.

Manufacturer Response:

We aplogize for the difficulties. Our support staff will be with you shortly and will see that you are properly taken care of. We care about our customers and will be happy to assist you. Thank you

1 out of 5 eggsMisleading

Pros: I am sure it ill be very fast

Cons: Standard configuration using a Silicon Image 3124 controller is provided as a pair of 55GB drives which can be concatenated in the BIOS setup to 111GB, however to condifer this to be enterprise ready is far fetched, to say the least. Although it is not on the VMWare HCL I would expect it to be configurable - if not as a boot drive butr as an SSD datastore... No such luck.

Other Thoughts: Unfortunately it cannot be returned so will have to use it in a PC and make use of it that way
