OCZ Agility 2 SATA II 3.5” Solid State Drives deliver the same performance as the 2.5” edition in a larger form factor to easily integrate into desktop applications without the need to install additional hardware, with additional value than the original at a lower cost per gigabyte. Designed to excel in both sequential and random read/write speeds up to 10,000 4KB random write IOPS, the 3.5” Agility 2 maximizes productivity when using as a primary storage or boot drive, minimizing program load times and completing tasks with blazing speed.

Using the latest controller technology with mainstream IOPS performance for a more cost-effective solution, the 3.5” Agility 2 provides a faster, more responsive PC experience complete with TRIM support to keep your drive operating at peak performance in Windows 7 systems. Built with SATA 3Gb/s, Agility 2 3.5” drives easily integrate into today’s desktop platforms as the ultimate storage upgrade.

  • newegg Cool, quiet and durable operation OCZ Agility 2 SSDs feature a durable yet lightweight housing, and because they have no moving parts, they are more rugged than conventional hard discs. Available in ample 90GB to 480GB capacities, the Agility 2 is an ideal hard drive replacement for first-time SSD upgraders in need of primary desktop storage or a spacious application and OS boot drive.
  • newegg Ultimate reliability Designed for ultimate reliability, Agility 2 Series SSDs have an excellent 2 million hour mean time between failure (MTBF) ensuring peace of mind over the long term. Agility 2 Series comes backed by a 3-year warranty and award-winning technical support for the ultimate peace of mind.
  • newegg TRIM Support The OCZ Agility 2 Series SSDs offer native TRIM support that can be enabled in Windows 7. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.
  • newegg SATA II Interface The OCZ Agility 2 Series SSDs feature SATA II interface supporting up to 3Gb/s data transfer rates and Native Command Queuing (NCQ) for optimum performance, efficiency, convenience and flexibility.

1 out of 5 eggsBroken Again

Pros: Works nice when it works

Cons: Bought my first one in June. Died in July got another one from Newegg. Just died again. Spend your money somewhere else!

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the sudden failure of your SSD! This particular drive has had several firmware updates - if it is not possible to update OCZ will gladly test and replace the drive per warranty terms. Since you have experienced multiple failures, this may be an issue that requires a unique resolution. Please contact our Support Forums detailing your experience and we will do what we can match you with a proper solution.

1 out of 5 eggsFourth time around. Failed.

Pros: It was cheaper than other drives at original time of purchase.

Cons: Extremely unreliable. The only thing that is reliable about the drive is that you can count on it to fail. Fourth drive of this type. Last failure (2 of these were being used in workstations in my workplace) and subsequent RMA resulted in replacement with an Agility 3 2.5" disk.
I did not wait for the fourth total failure as the drive was causing the system to BSOD and then upon reboot would fail to be detected until multiple restarts later it would show up.

Other Thoughts: I have had great luck with an old Vertex 2 30gb drive that barely had any free space on it and was used heavily in a workstation/renderbox/gaming machine while I was in school and afterwards. 4 years I think of heavy daily use in non-air conditioned spaces getting easily up to 100 degrees ambient in the summer and it is still running strong while these drives can't make it even a year in workstations at the office in a cushy 70 degree ambient environment.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about your experience with the Agility 2 but glad to hear you have been provided a warranty resolution. If you require any assistance with your remaining Agility 2 or 3 don't hesitate to contact our phenomenal Support Forums. Great to hear the Vertex 2 is still going strong!

2 out of 5 eggsUnreliable - 2 dead in ~18 months

Pros: Fast, quiet, small

Cons: One died within 4-6 months of original purchase in 2011. It was replaced and it just died again. Extremely inconvenient; has drastically hurt my productivity since my main PC is down, and will be down for the foreseeable future as I slog my way through the tedious RMA process.

Other Thoughts: Based on all the negative reviews I've read, this particular model is absolutely plagued with failure issues and bugs. Hopefully OCZ will take care of me when I RMA this drive, since it says 3 years parts and labor as the warranty length.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked first

Pros: Very fast boot times
Small, tiny in fact

Cons: Drive failed after a year.
It didn't just fail, it caused all kinds of system instability after it failed until I unplugged it.

1 out of 5 eggsVery disappointing

Pros: None that I can think of. Price maybe if you can find it on sale.

Cons: Extremely unreliable

Other Thoughts: I first experienced these drives by putting them into 2 HP Z400 entry level workstations as a cheap upgrade for the OS drive, using the included HDD for applications and local storage. Within a year, the drives in both machines failed, each about a month apart. One RMA drive is still running *fingers crossed for more than a year of life* while the second RMA drive was DOA and awaiting RMA once again.
Stay away from this drive. Go with an Intel 520 series, which I am now using in any retrofits/replacements to avoid lengthy RMA downtime and are working far beyond these drives or perhaps a Samsung 830 which I am also testing to good results/price.

Manufacturer Response:

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Our support staff will be happy to make setup suggestions to insure that your drive run reliably well into the future. We care about our customers and are here to help. Thank you

4 out of 5 eggsGood drive

Pros: It's about as fast as your are going to get with a Sata2 drive. I've had 2 for over a year now and they are still running great.

Cons: I had had these two in a raid 0 configuration, but after a week I started getting a warning that one drive was dying. I took them out of the raid configuration and they have worked fine ever since.

Other Thoughts: As soon as you receive your drive, go to the OCZ website and make sure that you have the latest bios. The older bios are more than a wee bit buggy.

4 out of 5 eggsMixed Blessing.

Pros: So, I had a Pyro in my mainline gaming desktop. But the thing had this weird behavior of not always being seen by bios, forcing me to always use a boot menu on bootup, and if I didn't see the drive, restart and try again. I purchased this drive, and played swapperoo. Pyro went to a laptop, Agility 3 went into my desktop. No more weird bootup issues. BUT the Pyro seemed faster to the login screen, than the Agility 3 is. However both perform rock solid from login going forward.

Cons: It feels slower, but I am not running benchmarks/diagnostics to confirm. As with any 120GB SSD, it requires a bit more management to bounce around your favorite apps, registry hack your user profile to prevent bloated appdata from being created. Not recommend for computer beginners, due to the likelihood of maxing drive space.

Other Thoughts: Overall great drive, and worth it at the price/rebate I picked it up for.

4 out of 5 eggsMeh...

Pros: FAST!!! No noise, no heat issues...

Cons: Just suddenly died. Was really fast and was working well, then one day wouldn't even do a POST...

Other Thoughts: I will buy another SSD soon, especially since the prices are coming down...

2 out of 5 eggsnot advertised capacity

Pros: I bought 4, no failures so far (6-9 months) good performance, compared to disks. Reasonable price

Cons: not advertised capacity:
Disk /dev/sdc: 115.0 GB, 115033153536 bytes
that is in absolutly no way 120gb. that is 115 gb, or 107 GiB.

Other Thoughts: not advertised capacity!!!

Manufacturer Response:

Formatted capacity for any drive (HDD or SSD) is always less than actual capacity. We apologize for any misunderstanding. If we can be of assistance or answer any questions please visit our support forums at the link below. We care about our customer and will be happy to assist you. Thank you
