OCZ Agility 2 SATA II 3.5” Solid State Drives deliver the same performance as the 2.5” edition in a larger form factor to easily integrate into desktop applications without the need to install additional hardware, with additional value than the original at a lower cost per gigabyte. Designed to excel in both sequential and random read/write speeds up to 10,000 4KB random write IOPS, the 3.5” Agility 2 maximizes productivity when using as a primary storage or boot drive, minimizing program load times and completing tasks with blazing speed.

Using the latest controller technology with mainstream IOPS performance for a more cost-effective solution, the 3.5” Agility 2 provides a faster, more responsive PC experience complete with TRIM support to keep your drive operating at peak performance in Windows 7 systems. Built with SATA 3Gb/s, Agility 2 3.5” drives easily integrate into today’s desktop platforms as the ultimate storage upgrade.

  • newegg Cool, quiet and durable operation OCZ Agility 2 SSDs feature a durable yet lightweight housing, and because they have no moving parts, they are more rugged than conventional hard discs. Available in ample 90GB to 480GB capacities, the Agility 2 is an ideal hard drive replacement for first-time SSD upgraders in need of primary desktop storage or a spacious application and OS boot drive.
  • newegg Ultimate reliability Designed for ultimate reliability, Agility 2 Series SSDs have an excellent 2 million hour mean time between failure (MTBF) ensuring peace of mind over the long term. Agility 2 Series comes backed by a 3-year warranty and award-winning technical support for the ultimate peace of mind.
  • newegg TRIM Support The OCZ Agility 2 Series SSDs offer native TRIM support that can be enabled in Windows 7. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.
  • newegg SATA II Interface The OCZ Agility 2 Series SSDs feature SATA II interface supporting up to 3Gb/s data transfer rates and Native Command Queuing (NCQ) for optimum performance, efficiency, convenience and flexibility.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed 3 times

Pros: It was fast while it worked

Cons: It has failed 3 times. I RMA'd this device twice, then when I recieved the 3rd device, and did not want to install it because of the probability of failure. About a year later, I finally installed it. Within 6 months, failure again.

Customer service was a joke. I expained that I had RMA'd the other devices and this was my third drive. Instead of looking up the service records for me, they just kept sending the same form letter stating that the original purchase date put the item past the three year warrenty. I had latest drive gotten from them for less than 2 years, but that doesn't matter.

Horrible product, and even worse customer service. If you are going to buy an SSD, go intel.

3 out of 5 eggsWell, it died.....

Pros: Fast speed, initially Lasted longer than some of the other owners of this model.

Cons: After 2 years of owning this model (and not very aggressive use), it died all of a sudden. Initially, it had an incredibly swift boot speed. After about 6 months, speeds started to dwindle, but remained fast. In the last 6-8 months, time have dropped drastically...in the last month, it has been extremely sluggish with lag times. Finally died today.

Other Thoughts: Can't say that this was a horrible product, as it lasted 2 years (and is still under warranty). It was early in the technology when I purchased it, so that's the risk you take. Regardless, I will be submitting a RMA to OCZ for a replacement or alternative.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the sudden failure of your SSD! This particular drive has had several firmware updates - your replacement will be packaged with the latest firmware and you should have confidence in the drive. If you experience any problems don't hesitate to contact our Support Forum and we will help however possible!

1 out of 5 eggsAwfule

Pros: None.

Cons: FAIL. FAIL. FAIL. FAIL. That is how many times I have RMA'd this awful SSD. It works for a month and then BOOM, crashes.

Do yourself a favor and look somewhere else for a quality SSD. This has been a headache to deal with.

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: Ok in all fairness it had 10K hours on it, I almost never turned the pc off, and I had pageFile on. (I have a 300gb Raptor with 15k Hours and still going.)

Managed to get most of my data off the drive.

Use command prompt and run it under Administrator on another pc.
If you hit a bad part of the drive the led turns red and you just turn off the drive and start it again, avoiding the last place that was read on command prompt so you dont error out again.

xcopy target destination /E works pretty well.

It takes time to do but its your data so save what you can :)

Cons: Its Dying :(

Other Thoughts: Will rma it as soon as im sure I got as much off it as i could.

1 out of 5 eggsDied

Pros: Very fast.

Cons: When they die they have a nice feature that prevents you from accessing any of your data, if there is a file issue it just stops the drive completely, ive lost all of my pictures and data since it wont let me access them without freezing the drive. Great engineering.....

Manufacturer Response:

We apologize for the problem. Please visit our support page at the link below and create a support ticket to arrange for an RMA. We will happy to make setup suggestions to insure that your drive operates reliably as it should. We care about our customers and are here to help. Thank you

2 out of 5 eggsGood for 9 months

Pros: I used this drive for my OS and video editing software only. It worked well for 9 months. Reasonable speeds, but nothing spectacular.

Cons: Like many other posts, this drive died on me after 9 months. This was in my home (not work) computer, which is probably why I got 9 months rather than 6 months. One morning I had problems with a BSOD (stop code 0x000000F4) and then the drive was not recognized by the BIOS. Same problem as reported by all the other recent posters. I went through some firmware updates and reformat and requested RMA.

Other Thoughts: After reading the other reviews and my personal experience, I am not going to trust a replacement drive, I'll go with a different, more reliable manufacturer.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat until it died

Pros: It was fast, installed in my screwless case with no problem.

Cons: My story is similar to others who reviewed this after 6 months of use.

It randomly started to die after about 1 year. I thought it was
CPU prob since I over-clocked my unlocked AMD. I bought new CPU, same problem. I tried the CPU on another MB, worked great. Installed OS on old CPU, MB / on new HD... no prob.

Tried to install windows on the SSD on the tested system.... random lockups and reboots

Other Thoughts: OCZ has or had a good rep for high quality SSD's. Anyone know what the rep/quality is now?

Manufacturer Response:

We aplogize for the problem. Please visit the link below and create a support ticket to contact our staff and arrange for an RMA. Please also visit our support forums at the link below for setup advice and suggestions to insure that your replacement drive operates reliably into the future. 1 out of 5 eggsDouble Failure

Pros: This drive seems to be fast and I think the aesthetics are nice, though you rarely see it anyway.

Cons: This drive has died twice, both times within 6 months. I recently requested a second RMA and was emailed by a tech requesting that I do all sorts of complex troubleshooting tasks and firmware upgrades. On top of that, I was told to reformat the drive and install my OS again.

I know I am going to go through the hours of work to do this and find that the drive is still dead. Which will upset me more than the fact that I am asked to do all this technical work for a device for which I should not have to lift a finger when it fails.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this device.

Manufacturer Response:

We aplogize for the difficulties. When a drive fails, it will not be recognized by the system BIOS and it will not be possible to install your OS. If you continue to have issues, please contact our support staff again. We care about our customers and are here to help. Thank you
