The RevoDrive X2 PCI-Express SSD is an innovative storage solution for enthusiasts and prosumers to make the most of their desktops and workstations, upgrading the original architecture to deliver unprecedented speeds and higher capacities.

The RevoDrive family gets its edge by eliminating the SATA II (3Gbps) bottleneck and leveraging a PCIe x4 interface, delivering superior speeds over 740MB/s sequential speeds and random small file writes up to 120,000 IOPS, nearly triple the throughput of other high-end SATA based solutions. The RevoDrive X2 uses an onboard RAID 0 design by employing four SandForce-1200 controllers to maximize data access and bandwidth. Unlike competing PCIe solutions the RevoDrive X2 is bootable, ensuring the satisfaction of quicker start-ups, load times, and computing, all while promoting cooler, quieter, and more energy efficient conditions compared to traditional mechanical hard drives.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid performance, iffy setup

Pros: High performance, blows away a standard HDD, or SSD's of the same time period.

Cons: The setup procedure is tricky, and between PC rebuilds and major hardware tweaks you might find yourself having restored from a backup due to having to manually rebuild the RAID, or having lost data due to a firmware update.

2 out of 5 eggsBad write speeds

Pros: Read speeds are good. Easy to install.

Cons: I get write speeds about the same as a 7200 RPM raid 1 set. Reads are of course great.

Other Thoughts: too expensive for the throughput imo

4 out of 5 eggs9 months here's what I found

Pros: Super high OCZ build quality. Blazingly fast. Never had any heat issues at all. Boot up and close down in Win 7 is remarkably fast and makes complete reboots in under one minute.
OCZ provides well designed firmware upgrade tools.
The OCZ support forum really works. There are moderators to answer any questions and they really know their stuff.

Cons: Have had annoying need for chkdsk repair of orphaned files. Can't determine yet if it is the drive or Windows acting senile.

Other Thoughts: Just 3 years ago, I would have never thought this kind of performance was possible, let alone available for purchase by the civilian population. This is something straight out of the future. Just like a SciFi computer drive! Simply amazing product.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy this product

Pros: Nice packaging

Cons: This product should never have been released. I read about the high failure rate online but took a chance because its the only pci-e SDD on the market. It arrived DOA (red fault light was on from the second I booted the device) OCZ must have terrible QC. The worst part is I have to pay $15 for a replacement part (shipping) and the internet is crawling with parts that fail after just a few weeks/months.

Other Thoughts: Its not worth it. Get 2 x regular SSDs put them in RAID and get similar performance without the aggrovation

5 out of 5 eggsGood LAWD!

Pros: I've never seen anything load apps this fast... EVER!

Cons: Price. Compatibility.

Other Thoughts: Well... I thought it was fast before. Once I got the thing loaded up with Windows, it was fast, no lying there. I ran benchmarks on it, and WEI reported a 7.9, I was shocked! I love this thing! Tonight, I remembered that some people said that there were issues with the write-cache buffer flushing. Disable it. I never store anything ON my C: drive anyway, so data loss isn't a big deal, PLUS, I have a 1500W UPS backing up my power. Oh. Em. Gee. Response times are UN-BE-FREAKING-LIEVEABLE!!!

My liquid cooled, OC'd, i7 is now no longer wasted! LOL CS3 loads LITERALLY in the blink of an eye. DVD playback application, the same. Installs are so fast they hurt my feelings! Primary hard drive WEI is probably about 14.4, now... :)

The price of entry on this thing is astroNOMICAL, but if you want the fastest data transfer money can buy, THIS is it. I wasn't disappointed before, but NOW... Wow.

5 out of 5 eggsThis Thing Rocks

Pros: Very Fast, Extremely Fast, Outrageously Fast. Did I mention it was fast?

Cons: I little difficult to install. Need to download drivers from OCZ website. Not compatible with many motherboards.
You might have data loss if you lose power because you have to turn off write-cache buffer flushing.

Other Thoughts: As ED2KSR had mentioned, you will have trouble with stuttering, slow application installs and a low sub score if you don't turn off write-cache buffer flushing in the policies section of the disk properties.

5 out of 5 eggsLives Up To The Hype!

Pros: Love this thing. Fantastic alternative to SATA3, especially if you have a garbage Marvell SATA3 controller like me. Blaazing fast - the future is here now, crushes anything out there. Ridiculously fast boot times. 10 - 11 seconds.. ATTO scores I am getting are 840+mb/s read and 650+mb/s write vs 80mb/s with my 7200 HDD. 7.9 WEI. Extremely stable with no BSODS. Worked out of the box no problems and exceeded expectations. I will never go back to HDD's again. Everything is snappy and fast with no delays. Decent warranty. Fancy box!

Cons: Cost. No trim. Hogs a PCIe slot. Serious lack of documentation that could be a problem for some. Not even a CD comes with this thing. It's not 3TB :)

Other Thoughts: I was extremely skeptical about this product and was very pleased it lived up to the hype. BUT do the research and see if this is right for you. Be sure to check the motherboards officially tested. Also, as others said, you must click "Turn off windows write-cache buffer flushing" or it will impede the drives performance considerably and you should update to the recommended BIOS version of your motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggsSmoking Fast, No issues here.

Pros: 1.) Clean install for me (Boot for Windows 7)
2.) Not very much fussing (Simple driver install on setup and disable windows write cache for full speed)
3.) Smoking fast (After Clean install, Random W/R of 612/520 and Seq W/R of 798/676)

Cons: 1.) Price is a little high but worth it
2.) Had a E9 Error during the first boot, but went away and hasn't returned, even during a 20 hours stress test

Other Thoughts: My install worked perfectly (GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3). I had no other drives attached during install and both SATA controllers were defaulted to IDE. I didn't have to do anything that they mentioned in the OCZ install guide thread. I installed via DVD and and loaded drivers via USB in the Windows Setup. Like the others have said, I didn't get full performance of the drive until I turned off windows write cache.

I had two other SATA 3.0 HDDs, but I didn't install those and switch the controller over to raid until after I had windows 7 setup. I changed the controller over to raid and it booted up fine. Raided the HDDs and still booted up fine.

If your having trouble with the drive, follow OCZs setup on the forums. Just because it doesn't support options during Windows install does not mean that it won't support them after the install is done. Do your first load as simple as possible and work up from there.

5 out of 5 eggsEnthusiast-Level Performance

Pros: If you have programs which demand high I/O speed, this is the drive for any performance enthusiast. But, as I said, this drive is for enthusiasts only. There is no practical use for such a fast drive at its current cost. Side note: I bought it when it was new and over $800. All complaints regarding compatibility, crashes, losing data, is all coming from generic consumers. This card of for hobbyists who are ready to spend an entire day running optimizations within Windows, regedit, re-aligning the RAID on the drives. This is NOT a device you plug in, let Windows find a driver, and start enjoying blazing performance.

Cons: Much of the performance claims are based on uncompressable data. 80-90% of data on your computer is compressible so real time performance will not be as impressive as 700mbps read speeds. You HAVE to optimize Windows settings around this drive. I won't go into the details but if you are looking through my review for a guide, chances are you would have been much happier with a basic SATA or USB3.0 SSD drive for consumers. Running benchmarks such as WEI or PCAdvantage will give varied results based on different computer builds. This is likely due to the most unsupported feature of this drive, a bootable PCIE device.

Other Thoughts: Cannot get my WEI to 7.9, feeling quite stupid for this.

2 out of 5 eggsFast, but unreliable

Pros: Fast drive.

Cons: Expensive. Unreliable. Started failing at around the 6mo. mark. Now every other bootup is a disk consistency check followed by orphaned files being cleaned up.

Other Thoughts: Did a clean format, flashed to latest firmware for drive & mobo. "technical" support is just wasting my time. Tried to get me to flash my mobo to a pre-release bios firmware(F1, RTM is F4) and run in my 16x slot since that's all they tested it on. Probably won't buy from OCZ again.
