The ultimate storage solution is here. OCZ RevoDrive 3 PCI-Express Solid State Drives were designed with power users and workstation users in mind where storage I/O performance is essential for maximum productivity. Eliminating the SATA bottleneck, the PCIe-based Revo3 delivers ground-breaking 1GB/s of bandwidth and 130,000 4KB random write IOPS making this an ideal SSD for intensive multithreaded workloads, multimedia design, and workstation applications.

Along with unprecedented performance, the RevoDrive 3 features OCZ’s Virtualized Controller Architecture (VCA) 2.0 which provides features including TRIM support and SMART data monitoring, something previously unheard of with PCIe solutions. In addition, the RevoDrive 3’s SuperScale storage accelerator enables scalable SSD performance and significantly reduces the host CPU burden inherent to competing PCIe storage offerings. The RevoDrive 3 series is a premium feature rich storage solution that delivers superior performance and reliability through innovative design.

  • newegg Single Highest Performing SSD in Prosumer Space The RevoDrive 3 family gets its edge by employing a PCIe x4 Gen. 2 interface and two SandForce SF-2281 controllers in RAID 0 design to maximize data access and bandwidth. The result is up to 3X faster performance than SATA 6Gb/s solutions - up to 1000MB/s read & 900 MB/s write speeds, and incredible random write up to 130,000 IOPS (4KB Aligned) under HPC or workstation workload with a single card solution. The OCZ RevoDrive 3 can take full advantage of today’s multithreaded processors and software, and delivers an easy-to-deploy, OS bootable large storage capacity solution.
  • newegg OCZ Virtualized Controller Architecture The RevoDrive 3 provides unique benefits to users by incorporating features from the VCA 2.0 flash virtualization software that allow certain direct memory access (DMA) and data management functions. Included in this feature-set are OCZ’s exclusive command queuing and queue balancing algorithms, which can be handled by the onboard processing core for higher performance and reduced burden on the host resources. VCA 2.0 is also the only virtualization layer in the industry with TRIM and SCSI unmap support to enhance sustained performance and provide greater endurance by significantly reducing the overhead associated with garbage collection. Furthermore, VCA also offers consolidated SMART support and provides system administrators with advanced features for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting device attributes.
  • newegg OCZ SuperScale Storage Accelerator The OCZ SuperScale storage controller combines processing and full DMA (direct memory access) cores, as well as internal PCIe, SATA and SAS interfaces. This controller, combined with VCA 2.0 provides unique benefits to users by allowing certain DMA and data management functions including OCZ’s unique command queuing and queue balance algorithms to be handled by the onboard processing core, resulting in higher performance and reduced burden on the host CPU.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk with a Capital "J"

Pros: well it was kind of fast when it worked

Cons: After having the original Revo drive from a few years back work so flawlessly (and still working like a champ right now as I type this in my 780i board ) I thought I'd give this one a shot. Even after all the bad reviews I went ahead and bought it. I should have listened to the reviews. A little over 1 month and FAILURE of this drive. Also, when it did work for the one month, it did not seem near a fast or snappy as my original Revo that is working flawlessly in my other machine. Now I need to figure how to get my money back, since it is ineligible for RMA with Newegg now. LOL

Other Thoughts: I've always liked and used OCZ products like RAM, Power supplies and the original Revo Drive, but this RevoDrive 3 is a big disapointment. Like everybody else says, it has the one egg rating because I cant give it a zero or negative egg.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Choice for SSD

Pros: VERY VERY fast

Cons: I should have done more research on this drive was blinded by the speed. If you check out their forums their seems to be many problems. Mine was machine crashed then I got error message that drive was altered. Lost all my data it seems and am waiting for RMA from OCZ. Will update after their response.

Manufacturer Response:

We are confident your replacement will work properly. If you haven't already, please visit our Support Forums and detail your experience so we can help get you properly setup with your replacement.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This board is very fast.

Cons: Difficult to install and CD drivers that came with the board were useless. OCZ web site drivers worked.

I installed Windows 7 on this board, and it seemed to became unstable. Video editing software (Sony Movie Studio 12) settings changed by itself and crashed frequently during normal editing conditions.

Be advised: this board cannot be RMA to NewEgg, but must be RMA through OCZ.

Other Thoughts: Switched OS to OCZ SATA 3 SSD. RevoDrive3 board was wiped and demoted to scratch drive. So far it seems to be working well as a scratch drive. Maybe I'll try re-installing OS & basic editing software again.

5 out of 5 eggsFAST..... I love it

Pros: 1. Easy install
2. Super Fast 999,139 MB / Sec Read @ 8k and still climbing.

Because of the cons below, I wanted to see what I was getting, so used ATTO Disk Benchmark and was surprised with a 999,139 MB / Sec Read.

The drive this replaced 300Gb Velociraptor 10,000 Rpm ~ 100,109 MB / Sec Read
The drive I picked up for storeage WD Black 2TB 7200 Rpm ~ 135,677 MB / Sec Read

As always Newegg rocks!

Cons: 1. After trying to install Windows 7 x64 with the drivers on the disk I had to re install my old drive so I could download the latest divers.

2. Boot up screens:
OCZ TEchnology - BIOS Version 1.5.4.1020
Initizializing Adapter
PCI-E x4 Bandwith Usage: 5.0Gbps [OK]

and

OCZ TEchnology - BIOS Version 1.5.4.1020
[Physical Disks]
Port Disk Name Size Max Speed SAS Address
2 SATA: OCZ-REVODRIVE3 240GB SATA 6BG/s 5383A97B03378000

I contacted OCZ from their site but have not heard back yet.

Other Thoughts: Could update install disk.

2 out of 5 eggsBUYERS BEWARE

Pros: Pretty fast; it didn't cross my mind to try to benchmark it while I was in the middle of fighting with it.

Cons: This is not a 240GB SSD, it is a pair of 120GB SSDs with a fakeraid0. The only way to use this drive is to use the provided drivers to install with Windows 7, or else have knowledge on how to set up software raid.

After trying to install to either drive and installing the bootloader to either drive or to a HDD, the only way to not get a missing filesystem error is to install mdadm during install to create raid, mount system and fix grub before reboot.

When I contacted OCZ they told me the only thing that could work is Win7 and that they will not take anything that is not broken, "sorry for any inconvenience".

Other Thoughts: Unless you are intending to use Windows 7, or else know what you are doing, this would not be a smart buy.

5 out of 5 eggsSmoking!

Pros: Awesome card! Windows 7 is blazing fast now! You can't beat having that extra layer of cache between your RAM and HDD.

Cons: I wouldn't recommend this card for beginner builders. The documentation is great but its definitely not a simple plug and play.

Other Thoughts: This is my first SSD and since my system is not equipped with SATA 3 it is ideal for me. Make sure you think carefully about the configuration of your user space and lingering windows HDD based services. I have all my user space and infrequent use files on my old HDD while only the OS and some demanding software is left on my SSD. The MKLINK /J command is your friend!!

Also, keep in mind this card and other PCIE x4 cards will fit in a PCIE x16 slot and function just fine, this is the configuration I am using! (I should point out I am using PCIE 2.0 as well)

5 out of 5 eggsSETUP

Pros: hey, ppl, if you set this drive up properly using all the tools ocz provides NOTHING will go wrong. If you just install and power on, sure windows will load and run times are fast, but you will loose the drive when something happens because of improper setup. This drive is plug and play, but you get the best performance when custom fitting this drive to your machine, if you do take the time to custom fit this to your machine NOTHING will happen and all is well. Take the time to install, the extra work and custom, and you wont be having issues.

Cons: it does take a minute to handshake with my setup if I dont tell this drive what my setup is and how to handle me. once i give the drive some info the drive is nuts.... if you think you can just plug and play get ready to rma. you can't just plug this into any port and forget about it because the install software isn't robust enough to realize every machine on the planet. log into ocz, custom fit this to your pc, THEN this thing is plug and play....!!!! If you think your computer is fast and you dont have this drive you are being left behind. this is a dumb speed increase, just dumb, program load times are instant, boot times are like 3 seconds, but it does take about 5 seconds to get out of the black when booting... uh... so comparably to the rest of the time boot up is slow. but comparably to any other ssd or hhd boot up time is a freak.

Other Thoughts: I have 6 ocz ssd's. yes i have had to deal with ocz customer support and I have to say following instructions for rma and ocz has ALWAYS been fast, considerate, and very easy to get to work right. I rma, I get a new ssd, every time. Now, if you are willing to set the drive up, meaning get to ocz and find out how to change windows settings and so forth, download some utilities to keep this drive on the level, uh.... its not going to give you problems. if you just dump, and dump, and dont flush this thing your going to run into issues. read a bit about this tech and you wont be disappointed. if you dont give a hoot, then use the rma solution, and when you get around to reading change a few windows settings and download some software to keep tabs on this thing and you are going someplace weve not been before. this drive is so fast. planetside 2 on normal ssd takes 90-120seconds to load. with this drive planetside 2 loads in 20 seconds. black ops 2 has no load times,... its instant. star wars instant. the only problem your going to have if you do it right is the multi app load issue. if you click it ... it will come... youll spend more time unloading programs than loading. click slower now... lol... anyway, very, very nice.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW

Pros: had the classified mb with i7 but the revo 3 after power failure decided to default to "revo and evga classified mb boot failure" so upgraded to newest amd with mb and resolved the issue. Running windows 8 this thing screams. i get into windows so fast its dumb. like 3 seconds. this thing is insane people. if you want speed, search no more. I have never in my life had something so responsive. im running amd3, 4.0ghz, 7xxx series ati, and this revo in windows 8. design in the unreal engine. this card was worth every penny. oh and ocz support, because i have all the ssd's, sets the bar.

Cons: when people mention this card firing up slow, what they mean to say is that its not instant. 5 seconds from push power on to in windows 8 is not slow. its slow because it spends 3 seconds of the 5 in the black of cmos... but once this thing gets out of the black and hits windows all bets are off. you get in now.

1 out of 5 eggsfailed after 3 months, performance in the real world is a lot slower than advertised.

Pros: Installs in systems with no fast sata slots

Cons: Real world performance is about 1/5th advertised speed. 300-350mb/s.
Over rules any other raid controllers in the bios. Rendering them unbootable
We have had three of these drives and each fails before 6 months.
Incompatible with most motherboards

Other Thoughts: Get some reliable intel or Samsung ssds instead.
