By leveraging the latest SATA 6Gbps interface and the second generation of SandForce SSD controller (SF-2281), the Agility 3 pushes the limits in both sequential and random data transfer rates with up to 525MB/s read plus incredible 4KB random write performance of 22,000 IOPS. It is backwards compatible with SATA II / 3Gbps, and is also compliant with ATA/ATAPI-8 Standard Native Command Queuing (NCQ). (Max performance achieved using Native SATA 6Gbps chipset. TRIM Support The OCZ Agility 3 offers native TRIM support featured in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.
S.M.A.R.T. Technology The OCZ Agility 3 adopts Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.) which enables the PC to predict the future failure of hard disk drives. Through the SMART system, hard disk drives incorporate a suite of advanced diagnostics that monitor the internal operations of a drive and provide an early warning for many types of potential problems. When a potential problem is detected, the hard drive can be repaired or replaced before any data is lost or damaged.
ECC Recovery Designed with the file verification and repair tool- ECC Recovery, OCZ Agility 3 provides up to 55 bits correctable per 512-byte sector (BCH), protecting your important files and sensitive data against digital corruption by using Reed-Solomon codes.

Cons: Purchased 4 from Newegg at same time. 3 work fine, 1 reported defective "premature failure" from the computer. There is no fix. Other Thoughts: I updated the firmware on all drives, didn't change the status on the drive. Still reported failure. I tried to RMA to Newegg but put the drive into the wrong (indentical) packaging and after a month Newegg still isn't helping. Now they have my drive, I have no replacement, and have to work with OCZ on a fix. I purchase all the time from Newegg, this is the worst help I've ever received from them. Cons: - The hard drive died while I was installing Windows. - Manufacturer's software couldn't detect drive to repair any problems. Other Thoughts: This drive appeared to work fine until I tried to install Windows on it. The installation froze in the middle of installing, then when I rebooted, I noticed that the BIOS could no longer detect the drive. I've sent the drive back for a replacement. This is my first SSD had to buy a addition adapter to fit in a 3.5 bay in my desktop, but for the price, who cares?! I wanted to put a fresh install of windows on this baby, fastest install, took about 1 hour to have windows installed, fully updated, all drivers loaded. By far the fasted new install for me. This baby is FAST FAST FAST, going from a 7200 rpm to this will blow you away. Cons: Didn't come with a drive bay adapter which seems alot of other SSD's do. But for the price per gig on this compared to similar models I had no problem forking over a few more bucks to buy on separate. Other Thoughts: If you in the market for a new HD or a upgrade from a old unit, this one has alot of bang for the buck. Very happy with my purchase. So far, so good. It's super fast. I also have an Agility3 running in a 2008 Macbook pro. I've dual booted Snow Leopard and Windows 8 Consumer Preview on it, as well as 10.8.2 Mountain Lion.
