The OCZ Z-Drive R4 Series represents a turning point in the evolution of PCIe attached solid state storage by merging the best feature sets of both the pure hardware and pure software based approaches to data management. Designed and manufactured for a wide range of enterprise environments including cloud computing and data centers, the Z-Drive R4 features OCZ's Virtualized Controller Architecture (VCA) 2.0, providing the utmost in performance, flexibility, durability and enhanced reliability, allowing data centers to rely on a PCIe-based SSD as their primary tier one storage solution for the first time. Additionally, the Z-Drive R4's level of concentrated performance enables system architects to design more productive infrastructures while lowering operating costs associated with hard drive technology.
VCA 2.0 supports the industry standard SCSI command set and, among a litany of other things, provides highly efficient performance aggregation due to OCZ’s exclusive Complex Command Queuing Structure (CCQS), that handles balancing with OCZ's unique Queue Balancing Algorithm, that extends the NAND flash life at a block level, manages redundancy, and is the software interface with the host system.
Z-Drives integrate seamlessly with servers at the system bus and kernel level, creating a new flash memory tier and dramatically increasing throughput and application performance all while slashing capital and operating costs. The OCZ Z-Drive R4 Series is available in half height and full height configurations (half height form factor for CM84 Version).
Z-Drive R4 is blazing fast and stable
Pros: I have 18 of the 1.6 TB version installed in HP-DL580-G5s with Windows Server 2008 R2. They have replaced a fast SAN and solved my performance issues. We run SQL Server on each of these and have had no issues after we got the right drivers. The support for the Enterprise support team has been outstanding. Out of 18 drives we had 2 DOA but they were RMAd with cross shipping and had them the next day.
Other Thoughts: I see tons of reviews complaining about OCZ Tech Support. I have used OCZ products for more than 5 years. People need to understand that they are always on the bleeding edge of technology and performance. Considering how advanced their products are, they are remarkably reliable. We should all thank them for there efforts, not bash them.

Horrible Support, No virtualization ability.
Pros: Sounds Great on paper. Very fast if setup on Windows 2008R2 server directly.
Cons: We bought one of these to use with xenserveer. No Driver. So the 1 time we got OCZ support they sent us a beta ESXI version with VMWARE driver. It loads, but performance is worse than on board 7200 RPM SAS drive. We’ve been trying to get OCZ Enterprise support for over a week. No return emails or calls. Not very highly recommended at this time.
Other Thoughts: We actually have the 1.6 TB version of this that retails for over $10K. It seems like we should be able to get some kind of support for it. Phone number just goes to answering machine. No forums for enterprise hardware.
