OCZ Octane OCT1-25SAT2-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Unit is what I ordered.

Cons: Installed SSD 128GB. It appears to be defective. Computer does not show any indication its installed. Checked the bios still no drive detected.

Other Thoughts: Need a copy of sales receipt. Want to have OCZ2 replaced with a working unit. Thank you

Pros: Nothing notable

Cons: Failed within a few months consistent with the other reviews.

Pros: Good Customer Service and Support, and painless RMA Process. I worked with Steven Cheng from OCZ support. Very suprised that I got personal attention, and even a couple phone calls from him to make sure the process whent smoothly. Got my drives replaced quickly, and with out "...did you try this....." dumb questions. 5 eggs for service, 1 egg for the product initially, but 5 eggs for thier updated firmware and replacement drives, averages out to 4 eggs now.

Cons: As you can see from all the bad reviews, there must have been issues, or a 'bad batch' of drives. But I think they got those issues resolved with updated firmware.

Other Thoughts: This is my 2nd review. First review, gave 1 egg because 2 out of 3 drives went bad after a few months. But after getting replacement drives, easily and painlessly, and using thier updated firmware on other and new drives, I felt I had to give another better review.

Pros: I made a review on 8/9/2012, stating that i had issues with the customer support. Well I went ahead and submitted my RMA again finally. they get a couple more eggs because this time around they really took care of me. albeit they gave me options for 2 different drives still at 120gb, they were way more responsive this time around. i had "Jeff T." emailing me being very courteous, knowledgeable, and friendly. I think the first run around i may have dealt with a guy not having a good day or something. I should have asked him which drives have a less return rate, but from judging the reviews here, i think my replacement drive will be worth it. i would have been content if the original drive just worked in the bloody first place.

Cons: -1 egg for the original bad product
-1 egg for the first bad customer experience

Other Thoughts: i try to rate the whole experience, not just the product. if i rated JUST the product, i would have to give the lowest possible score. this first Octane SSD was more of a test bed to get the bugs out for the latest Octane build which is a better drive from what i can tell. pay the extra cash and get the Sata III Octane (orange package) if you really dont trust the sandforce controllers. nice thing is with the newer one is it doesnt degrade like traditional SSD's do on performance due to the controller. if you search "Ndurance Technology" you can read about it, minimizing write amplification and increasing longevity.

Pros: Quite fast and quite a low price for 128 GB.
Rated 7.3 on WEI.

Cons: I owned his SSD for a day before it died on me. I only had around 24 successful boots until it couldn't read Windows, BIOS went directly to the DVD Drive. So, I thought I'd re-install Windows but at the start of the installation, got an error where Windows cannot make a partition of the drive.

I recommend going for one of the other brands if you're looking for an 128GB SSD.

Pros: OCZ has a decent customer care center

Cons: Drive failed in 3 months. Look at the reviews, you do not want to buy this product.

Other Thoughts: As noted above the CCC at OCZ made it right for me. I emailed their support team who helped get an RMA submitted directly with OCZ (since this failed after the 30 window Newegg offers). They sent me a OCZ-VERTEX3 - slightly smaller at 120GB but a bit faster and the promise of better reliability.

I'm pleased they admitted the drive was faulty and sent me a different model as a replacement.

Pros: Won't take up a lot of room at the landfill.

Cons: Cashed every ten minutes then quit completely.

Pros: fast

Cons: Started getting errors after ~3 weeks.
windows repair was able to recover lost files.
One morning got the Dreaded No boot disk error
Ran scan for bad sectors.. had 1000s... including Boot sector making drive unusable.

Luckly I have good old fashion "Magnetic" drive and good backups:)

BTW: I have 3 other OCZ drives ( OCZ Vertex/OCZ Vertex2) running in laptops and workstation w/o any issues

Pros: ssd drive first installed fine, ran plenty faster than the 74gb velociraptor it replaced.

Cons: after installation of 1 month it died. took me a while to figure out that it was the hdd that went bad and not my suspect motherboard. contacted OCZ and tried to go through an RMA process, they wanted me to go with a 120gb Vertex 3 for replacement because they didnt have any of these in stock. told them that this was not good because i would be losing money on it and to suggest another one. they had yet to email back and closed the service ticket. i think i will call them up next time, get the RMA and sell whichever ocz drive they replace it with so i dont have to go through them again. very dissatisfied.

Other Thoughts: OCZ was the best in the past. oh how times have changed. back to the velociraptors for me.

Pros: Cheep (but you get what you pay for)

Cons: I ordered 3 of them. 2 of the 3 went bad within 5 months. First 3 months in, two of the computers had major corruption on the SSD, Win 7 wouldn't boot. I formatted, and reloaded windows. Work for 2 more months, then the same thing. They are still recognized in BIOS and by Win 7, but my files on the SSD get messed up/corrupted. Not Doing it a 3rd time. Going to RMA.

Other Thoughts: The 3rd drive hasn't failed Yet, cross my fingers. Wonder if they had a bad batch because all the bad reviews seem to come about the same time. I RMA'd. I've ordered at least 20-30 other SSD's by Kingston/OCZ (their more expensive models) and corsair. Out of those 20-30 I think I only had 1 bad drive. So for 2 out of 3 in the same order to go bad really puts a bad taste in my mouth.
