5 out of 5 eggsGreat SSD

Pros: Extremely fast but with a ton of storage. I got this unit while it was on sale and it was a steal. I play a good amount of games on it and I almost always load before anyone else.

Cons: None, great SSD. Great buy.

Other Thoughts: Love the amount of storage and speed of this SSD. The 256g is extremely nice to have. I have quite a few games on it and still have room. I have a HD for additional storage and it's pretty easy to tell the difference between the two.

5 out of 5 eggsreliable and fast

Pros: Quiet, cool and fast, I have used a pair of these drives for over 7 months, caught them on sale for $199.00. Have not had one issue with either one. Fantastic product and would love to pick up more if they ever go on sale again.

Cons: none so far, these puppys rock

Other Thoughts: Stable as can be, easy to install, cool temps very fast in all areas.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice and super fast

Pros: Very fast. I have had this since 7/30/2013 and never a problem. Windows loads in 23 seconds form the time I hit the power on switch. My computer shuts down in 20 seconds after hitting the off switch

Cons: Only con for new buyers is that the price hasn't dropped. I paid $209.99 on Newegg almost a year ago.

Other Thoughts: I have gotten my money worth out of this. If it died tomorrow I would go and buy another, even at the higher price

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive!!

Pros: Very fast, dependable drive. I've been running it for over 7 months with absolutely no problems and it's still smokin fast.

Cons: Not inexpensive.

Other Thoughts: Check ALL of the specs when comparing SSD's. This one rocks!

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid buying from OCZ

Pros: When the drive worked it was very fast.

Cons: Six weeks after installation with normal use the drive locked up the PC and then failed to be recognized by the Motherboard. Testing in other systems resulted in failure as well. If you have to send a drive back to OCZ their RMA process is terrible with only the website to submit requests and no label or effort done on their part. You MUST pay for return shipping out of pocket and their representative didn't care since that is their policy.

Other Thoughts: I have RMA'ed other faulty products before and in each case an RMA label was supplied with their carrier of choice and I could easily track the process. For OCZ I have to write the RMA number on the box and HOPE it gets to them and they can confirm it. A terrible experience and I refuse to purchase another product of theirs no matter how great or cheap it is. They have created a major detractor today for any of their products.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Maldroth,

The Vertex 4 is a wonderfully reliable drive and I am sorry to read you experienced a problem. I am also sorry to read of your frustration with the RMA process. Our new website and ticket submission form is designed to be as easy as possible for wide range of users. If you have any issues at all with the replacement please visit our Support Forum and we will assist in getting the drive setup and working properly.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience!

Kind Regards,
OCZ Support

5 out of 5 eggsFast drive!

Pros: Very fast, high IOPS, Read & Write over 500MB/s on Sata 6Gb/s.
Been running over a year with no problems!

Cons: SSDs can always be cheaper but I picked it up last year for less then $1 per GB which is not bad at all!

Other Thoughts: Upgraded from an Agility 2 that's still running in another rig and can definitely tell a difference going from the Agility 2 to the Vertex 4!

1 out of 5 eggsAwesome....but not worth the Money

Pros: Replaced and older OCZ Agility 2 as main hdd...or ssd on a 2 year old fully spec'd out desktop.... Honestly cannot tell a difference, and neither can WEI. Very disappointing!!

ASUS Mobo
i7 990x OC'D
EVGA 590
etc etc etc...

Cons: Read above

Other Thoughts: Questionable

Manufacturer Response:

Dear MikeLowry,

I am sorry you do not feel the Vertex 4 was worth your money! It is a fantastic drive and considerably faster than the Agility 2 it replaced. WEI may or may not change since this is a SATA2 system - at best a socket 1366 motherboard only has add-on Marvell or ASMedia SATA3 ports, which will perform much slower than modern native SATA3 ports because of the single pcie lane limitation. We would love to discuss this further with you to make sure you are getting the most out of the Vertex 4. Please feel free to contact our Support Forum. We will examine your system details/benchmarks and make sure the drive is performing optimally on your system.

Thank you for your purchase!

Sincerely,
OCZ Support

5 out of 5 eggsRockin' SSD!

Pros: Smoking FAST, even with Windows XP Pro OS and limited (3.something GB used, of 8GB total...) system RAM. Boot times are Stunning! So stunning that I actually enjoy re-boots (verses dreading them)! No issues so far, but I haven't finished loading & testing this build (buying another house, packing, & moving soon). I'm a Believer in SSD's now!!! Wish it wasn't out of stock so I could get one for my older rig, (plus spares for cloning). I can't emphasize how Freaking FAST this drive is!!! No issues to get running, just don't full format (See the OCZ website before you format!). Even if you did format (fully) it's easy to fix (re-format with a W-7 machine or use the free downloadable tools/software, for this drive).

Cons: Out of stock & not on sale/free... :<)
(New Egg, Please Get MORE of these!!!)

Other Thoughts: If you haven't tried an SSD, Do It Soon! You will not regret it! Especially if you buy one of these... This drive is working fine with W-XP Pro. I bought more RAM than XP can use, for future, possible W-7 (W-9?) upgrade (but XP is just so easy & fun to work with), plus my ASUS (Rampage IV Formula) mobo is quad-channel RAM capable (I have 4ea, 2GB sticks). I'm also using 2 conventional (1TB) 7200 RPM WD-Black HD's for data storage, which haven't caused any issues either. Remember to treat this drive like you would RAM (Static can damage it!)!

5 out of 5 eggsThe future has arrived!

Pros: Stability has improved a great deal since my first SSD. This one hasn't given me any issues for the last seven months!

It's also Small and Lightweight! Easy to tuck away, and you can get away with only securing it with one screw for those unique system builds! No moving parts, so you don't have to worry about vibration! It's great! Oh and...

SPEED! I've used multiple different SSD over the last few years and I aim for the ones that offer the fastest speeds. I also want stability, as what good is going fast if you are going to crash all the time? I knew the first time I used a SSD that they were going to be the drive of the future! It has been the most exciting upgrade I have ever done in my last two decades of working on computers! Most will say the day and night analogy, and I think I have as well to be honest. I'd like to extend on that! It's like going from 2-3 channels on your old 25" color console tv connected to that huge antenna that use to be attached to the side of your house which your father might have sent you out to twist the pole in attempt for a better reception, to a full HD package! If you haven't done it yet, be prepared! The experience is jaw dropping! It finally works the way it's suppose to! (Note: This opinion is based using Windows 7 and Windows 8! Using an OS that wasn't built to support SSD may result in countless hours of troubleshooting, system tweaking, and changes. Yeah, an SSD will work with XP just the same as a lawn mower engine will work in a golf cart! Unless you are really good at mechanics however, it's going to be awhile before you are cruising around! Like anything else, make sure your parts work well with each other for a more enjoyable user friendly experience!)

Cons: Space is the only con I got. I look forward to the day when these will be available in 3+ Terabytes for a modest to cheap price. I know some will argue that a traditional HDD is just fine for storage and I argue back... What's wrong with wanting the ability to do system backups and media transfers super fast? I think it would be great if I could transfer all my home videos to a SSD to share with my cousin and it would be done in 20 minutes or less instead of 10 hours!

Other Thoughts: I love SSD!

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!

Pros: Fast, fast, fast. Easy to mount with kit.

Cons: non found so far

Other Thoughts: This drive was on sale when I purchased and I'm sad that I didn't know what I was getting or I would have bought more than one.
This drive runs Windows 7 64bit with no issues. It's fast and stable and has been rock solid for more than 8 months. If you can afford this model (or one that may replace it) I recommend to add it to your list.
Technical details beat some drives on the market but it's not hands down "the best" but in real world I can't say those technical details mean much. This drive beats a Samsung 256gb drive with ease. I've tested both side by side and this drive is faster.
If you have a choice, trust OCZ!
