5 out of 5 eggsPoorly made, but did the job

Pros: Cloned my hard drive to my new ssd without fail or hassle. Did it quickly and cleanly, no failures, no crashes.

Cons: Poorly made, external case fell apart while I was trying to use it. Also over priced for the quality of the product.

Other Thoughts: If you have to clone over a hard drive to an ssd quick and easy, this works great. However if you're looking for something well made that you can use over and over I would keep looking, this is definitely not the product you're looking for. As far as I am concerned this particular product is grossly over priced for its quality, but if you are planning on upgrading to an ssd from a hard disk and want to clone you hard disk easily, then this product will work well for you.

1 out of 5 eggsNice Try

Pros: Good idea and concept.

Cons: Bad case, Acronis crash, and useless.

Other Thoughts: What a waste of time and money. The case is soooo tight, the drive has to be squeezed into the case. Upon drive removal, interface also came out with it and broke. So much for the hardware. The Acronis software loaded and activated easily but crashed on every use with a very useless error message. This item is not returnable.

Don’t waste your time or money.

I guess I should be happy that I donated the purchase price to Newegg and OCZ.

By the way, I was able to clone my drive with the Seagate DiscWizard (my old drive is a Seagate), which is funny because the Seagate DiscWizard uses Acronis. I wonder what is going on here?

5 out of 5 eggsFree with my ssd

Pros: It was free, however I didn't use it, could make a nice external usb hard drive with it if you add a 2.5" sata hdd

Cons: it didn't come with a free hard drive

2 out of 5 eggsOCZ SSD Upgrade Kit

Pros: While the interface is secured in a nice case, it comes loose very easily, perhaps this is why it was FREE. Upon removing the SSD from the unit, the interface also came out with it. This did not damage the interface, therefore I was still able to use it outside of the case.

Cons: Software is good, but the interface needs to be redesign

3 out of 5 eggsShortest SATA Cable EVER

Pros: External enclosure's USB controller came in handy. USB side of things worked fine. Came with a 2.5"-to-3.5" adapter (the one that SHOULD have come with my SSD). Also included screws (which the SSD didn't). Also, it was free!

Cons: Shortest SATA cable EVER! Well, maybe not ever, but it's pretty useless. It was way too short to place the SSD in a 3.5" bay. Maybe it'd work for a cheap steel computer case and vertical SATA plugs. Unfortunately, I have neither.

Other Thoughts: I didn't actually use the software. I got it free with an OCZ Agility 4 512GB SSD. Its inclusion held zero sway for me.

1 out of 5 eggsWaste of time and money

Pros: Good idea

Cons: Bad execution, Acronis activation code did not work, not usable. The actual drive case fell apart, Cheap.

Other Thoughts: Was planning on upgrading my laptop to SSD, purchased a 120 gb OCZ SSD and this product to do the drive clone.
Installed the Acronis software, but will not function without activation key in which the one provided was one character too long. The drive/usb interface connector in the case fell out after repeated attempts to get the drive to sit properly in the case.

3 out of 5 eggsExperienced Acronis user

Pros: Inexpensive "complete" solution
external USB drive enclosure

Cons: Crippleware
leaves you wanting something better

Other Thoughts: I have used Acronis for years. It is good software that works great on healthy systems.

But Windows systems tend to develop problems over time, and Acronis cannot correct those problems, and shouldn't be used until the system is healthy. As a result it requires a level of proficiency as well as other tools and methods that should be exercised prior to using this software. Among the tools needed is a complete version of Acronis to back up your system prior to doing the work to make it healthy.

Think of it this way... If you have a newer system that has not had time to develop issues, this kit should work great. But in the real world a high percentage of systems will need additional skilled effort to bring them to the point this package is useful.

When I saw this, I thought "what a great way to get a cheap copy of Acronis". But in reality that isn't what this is. Buy a USB drive dongle and full version of Acronis instead, and do it right.

1 out of 5 eggsuseless

Pros: it looks cool and the price is low.

Cons: it is basically a cool paper weight slash coaster. failed cloning over and over.
Registering this product took about two hours and required at least a half hour of guesswork to get it going.
Acronis shows how they are helpful to customers on their website but doesnt deliver....

Other Thoughts: This is just a trial version with limited use. If it worked it might be worth it. I'm most likely going to waste several more hours trying to get it to work when i should just do a fresh install and be done with it.
