1 out of 5 eggsSTAY AWAY

Pros: Fast...when it works

Cons: We are a specialist shop based in North Carolina. We do upgrades and installations for Macs and PCs and have used OCZ products for a while. The Agility 4 has been nothing but a nightmare for us lately as several customers have returned with their computers not booting up at all. With the Macs the drive is reported as either unreadable or unrepairable and with with windows 8/7 it reports system files as being corrupted. After getting in touch with OCZ they advised us download their tool set and flash the latest firmware onto the drives and do a secure erase. After having done so some drives were repairable and we were able to partition. The only problem is all data was lost. Some drives would not partition after flashing. And to be honest we are extremely hesitant about putting more Agility 4's in customer's computers.

The Agility 3's had Sandforce controllers while these new OCZ SSD's have their own in house INDILINX controller and although speed increased it seems that reliability went out the window. I HIGHLY suggest staying away.

Other Thoughts: I would suggest going with an SSD that is still based on either a sandforce controller or intel controller. Hopefully OCZ works out some of these issues but until then we can't trust putting these in our customers machines and its hurting out reputation.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Sentient Circuitry,

Agility 4 drives running the latest firmware are very reliable. Please contact our support and we will arrange for replacements of any defective drive per warranty terms. It is important to us that you are confident in any OCZ solution you install in a system.

You may contact us at either the link below or call us Mon-Fri 8am-5pm PST at 1 (800) 459-1816. We will gladly assist however possible.

Sincerely,
OCZ Support

5 out of 5 eggsif only it was a bit bigger

Pros: Operates perfectly. Very fast (10-12 second boot time for windows 8, from touching power button).

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Personally, I should've gone with a 120-128gb ssd. Not enough space. But I would pick another ocz gladly.

3 out of 5 eggsWARNING

Pros: Cheap, quiet

Cons: I recommend you update the firmware on this drive before you use it. It seems to be common (as it is in my case) that if you set your PC to "sleep" with this drive, windows will crash and you need to reset. The new firmware seems to fix this problem although upgrading erases the drive. Upgrading the firmware is also complicated so I would look into it first and see if you can manage it.

Other Thoughts: Otherwise, if you don;t set your PC to "sleep", it seems to work as advertised... I just wish I had known this first as I like to pout my PC to sleep.

Manufacturer Response:

A very early firmware update of the Agility 4 was data destructive (pre-1.4). The last couple updates have not been and it is doubtful any updates in the future will be either. If you have not updated to the latest firmware please visit our Support Forum and we will help you with the process!

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect as a Z77 cache device

Pros: FAST

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This SSD is attached to an Intel Z77 SATA 6-gig port. It is being used as a Cache Device (in Maximized acceleration mode) for a RAID10 array, which consists of 4x WD Red 1TB disks. This combination is lightning quick:

Copy 6GB file from a different Mushkin SSD to the RAID10 = >500MB/sec
Copy UN-cached 6GB file from RAID10 to Mushkin = 240MB/sec
Copy CACHED 6GB file from RAID10 to Mushkin = >500MB/sec

Finally, the days of disk bottlenecks are all but gone!

5 out of 5 eggsFast and Cheap!

Pros: Fast, silent, cool drive at a great price. Better (quieter and cooler), than a regular hard drive.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: This isn't the fastest SSD drive out there but it was a good economy drive that fit my need perfectly. I put this in my Zotac Zbox AD12 media player to boot the OS. Installed and wors flawlessly. Better than a regular hard drive.

5 out of 5 eggsMy first SSD

Pros: I read many reviews and some users claim their SSD was DoA. I thought that at first today when I received my SSD. 1) It is not formatted 2) You need to manually assign a drive letter 3) Setup the drive partition through the Control panel->Administrative Tools-> Computer Management in Windows 7. While doing this it will ask if you would like to format it. After that is done you can begin to use your new SSD. Note if you change your drive letters around like I did you will be required to reboot your computer. I hope future users find my information helpful, I may have some steps backwards as to assigning drive letters. I believe Windows does this after the drive has been partitioned.

I bought this SSD to run the games I play most. There is definite speed increase over your standard HHD. Next week I plan on buy a couple more SSD's. My mechanical hard drive still going strong but I want to transition to SSD's.

Cons: None other than no cable. But I don't really need a cable as my Motherboard came with Sata II cables. If my board was Sata III then I would have an issue.

Other Thoughts: Only wish now I bought a larger SSD. :)

1 out of 5 eggsForget the Rebate

Pros: Boot in seconds. Amazing increase in system response.

Cons: I went through all the work to complete rebate online and mail in the form, UPC, and invoice/packing slip. Six weeks later tracking shows still waiting for proof of purchase. So I email rebate help and attach PDF file of scanned items mailed. They refer me to 800# that keeps callers on indefinite hold until they give up. I think if that is policy now, how can I count on warranty?

Other Thoughts: Boot from an SSD. You'll be amazed at how fast they are.
This is my 4th OCZ SSD. I'm spoiled so much that whenever I use a PC or laptop without an SSD the slow response times in comparison really set me to selling the owner on an immediate upgrade. Newegg has great selection and ratings guide my choices. I'm voting with my $$$ when companies don't pay the rebate.

1 out of 5 eggsWon't buy again

Pros: This is my 4th OCZ SSD and until 2012 I've been quite well pleased. So much that whenever I use a PC or laptop without an SSD the slow response times in comparison really set me to selling the owner on an immediate upgrade.

Cons: OCZ stiffed me on the rebate. I went through all the work to complete online and mail in the form, UPC, and invoice/packing slip. Six weeks later tracking shows still waiting for proof of purchase. So I email rebate help and attach PDF file of scanned items mailed. They refer me to 800# that keeps callers on indefinite hold until they give up. I think if that is policy now, how can I count on warranty? So I've switched to other brand drives.

Other Thoughts: Newegg, as always, is the place I look first. And they continue to impress me with fast service, great prices, and reviews that make a huge difference when I'm choosing which item to buy.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little SSD

Pros: Dropped it into my Acer netbook, which had a slow 5400rpm 320GB
Space wasn't an issue, reinstalled Win7 HP 64bit, still had around 2/3rds left.

Acer Aspire One 722
AMD C-60 APU
added 4GB
added 64GB Agility4 SSD

Boots in less than half the time!

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Came free with my nettop! Threw the SSD into my netbook and the bigger HDD into the nettop
