4 out of 5 eggsCheap but Meh

Pros: SDD drive, tiny (like all SDD drives), cheap

Cons: Performance better than conventional hard disk for boot drive, but fell short of other benchmarks for competing SDD drives. Not the "Whiz Bang!" effect I anticipated. Small size poses problems for boot drive configuration.

Other Thoughts: With a clean install of Windows 7 Home Edition Premium, the 57Gb (after partitioning/formatting) had only about 4.6Gb of free space after installing SP1 and all the Windows Updates. Had to modify profile settings and juggle default settings to free up about 14Gb of free space on the drive. This is with using a Western Digital Black 1Tb drive as the data drive for the system to install applications... In retrospect, I probably should have shelled out the extra $$$ for a 120Gb drive.

5 out of 5 eggsOCZ Vertex Plus R2

Pros: So far so good. I purchased this to upgrade the HD on my launch model 60GB PS3. PS3 recognized it right away and initiated format. No issues at this time but there was a noticeable decrease on load times on Skyrim.

Cons: No cons that I am able to notice. Only bad thing about SSD's in PS3 is that there is no TRIM support. This really should not be an issue since there will not be too many re-writes.

2 out of 5 eggsWeird power issues

Pros: Decent performance for the price

Cons: Not a super fast SSD (still faster than traditional hard drives)
Would not boot in my desktop or 2 laptops I tried unless it was unplugged and plugged back in after every boot (weird issue)

Other Thoughts: I RMA'd the drive with OCZ and they replaced it with the VTX3-25SAT3-60G which is a much faster drive and uses a newer/better controller which I suspect was the problem with booting. The Vertex 2 uses Indilinx rather than the newer Sandforce which may be a problem for you.

1 out of 5 eggsSave our money don't buy OCZ

Pros: Fast when it works...

Cons: Second drive to fail in two months... Drive fails to boot in any system (data is lost...again!). OCZs RMA process is a joke... the treat u like your trying to replace year old equipment .. First RMA was not even a month from purchase.

Other Thoughts: Save your money and time don't buy OCZ

2 out of 5 eggsGood for a laptop

Pros: Some nice features, high read speed. Low power consumption good for a laptop.

Cons: First drive was doa had to rma. Second drive worked but was dissapointed to see how the speed was on the drive. Hardly a notice compared to my old 7200rpm hdd. You get what you pay for with the drive.

4 out of 5 eggsNot Bad

Pros: Cheap SSD

Cons: Not alot of space

Other Thoughts: Used this for a small build for my mother in law. SSD works great and keeps windows 7 load times under 30 secs for a cold boot. If you don't have a secondary drive to put with this I would probably recommend just buying a standard 1-3 TB drive. Honestly boot time aside the new large platters make read and write times pretty much on par with any sata II ssd. My 1TB seagates (7,200rpm) have a read and write well over 100mbs
