2 out of 5 eggsIn case this ever becomes "In stock"

Pros: Very fast SSD, stayed true to the specs given.

Cons: Died on me a month ago after 1 and a half years of use. When it was "working" it would constantly crash if you left your system on longer than 24 hours. I can't get too mad about it though. I did buy this when the model first came out. I should have played it safe a got one with one that had a high customer rating. Ah well, it happens.

Other Thoughts: Don't bring this back. What I read from other ratings, I'm not alone...

2 out of 5 eggsUnreliable hardware

Pros: Fast drive

Cons: Prone to failure. This morning marked the second drive that has failed where my machine no longer recognizes the installed file system. The RMA process for the first was straightforward but the cost/unreliability of swapping these out has largely made me remove OCZ from my mental list of who I will buy SSDs from going forward.

Other Thoughts: I've just lost my second one of these

1 out of 5 eggsOZC Will Give You the Runaround

Pros: Didn't fly out of my PC and hit anyone in the lip.

Cons: Failed after ~2 weeks of light use.

Other Thoughts: Got an RMA # from OCZ, they now claim they never received the drive from me even though UPS tracking verifies when it was delivered and who signed for it. Mostly they are ignoring me or sending cryptic emails such as "include all previous correspondance" (like they don't keep records) and "Weird RMA DB problem". They have lost a loyal customer. I WANT MY MONEY BACK OR A REPLACEMENT NOW!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Anonymous,

Please send an email to rcampbell at ocztechnology dot com and I will investigate this. Please include your RMA number and return tracking information and I will work with the RMA team to resolve this ASAP.

On behalf of OCZ, I apologize for the inconvenience.

Kind Regards,
OCZ

1 out of 5 eggsFail

Pros: Purchased 2 of these about 6 months ago. Both had reasonable speeds when initially installed.

Cons: 1st one failed in about 2 months - completely died. It was RMA'd and is currently running in a Macbook Pro just fine. 2nd one started blue screening. Replaced with a more reputable manufacturers drive.

Other Thoughts: The mediocrity of these drives are clearly only outshined by their failure rate. You really do sometimes get what you pay for.

Manufacturer Response:

I am sorry to hear about your experience with this SSD. If you haven't already please visit our Support Forums and describe your system and provide as much info about the BSOD as possible. I am confident our staff will do whatever is possible to get your SSD working or provide an appropriate alternative solution.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed After 2 Months

Pros: Worked for 2 months of light use before total failure.

Cons: Worked for 2 months of light use before total failure.

Other Thoughts: Going to try to get a warranty replacement from OCZ, but, like about half of the people who purchased this model, will never buy one of their SSD drives again.

Manufacturer Response:

OCZ will definitely stand behind the product. Please contact support using the link below and we will help however possible. We also suggest that you visit our Support Forum at the link below for setup assistance. Proper setup can be critical for reliable operation and we are confident that we can get you running properly. Thanks!

3 out of 5 eggsGood when it works

Pros: Fast, responsive drive that worked well under both Ubuntu and Windows 8.

Cons: Lost sectors within 2 months of purchase, then became unrecognized by motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Originally came with 2.24 firmware and worked well until sectors went bad. Upgrade to 2.25 firmware left it completely unrecognized by motherboard (AsRock Z77 Extreme 4).

1 out of 5 eggsBeware of Firmware

Pros: It offers a nice boost in program startup and loading speeds over a HDD.

Cons: It can be seriously unreliable. Sometimes it will cause a system crash and then become undetectable by the motherboard, forcing a hard reboot of your computer. The latest firmware update supposedly fixes these problems, but using the manufacturer's bootable installation tools can render the SSD useless.

Other Thoughts: I've already RMA'ed 2 of these things back to Newegg. The first one had trouble being detected by my motherboard but eventually worked. Then it simply died after a day of usage. The next one got bricked because I tried to install a firmware update. With that said, dealing with this thing has been nothing but a nightmare.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat drive- when it works

Pros: Fast access time, no noise, easy installation.

Cons: Installed as a system drive, super-fast loading for the first 4 days of the build, then it died. I had another as a scratch disk for Photoshop so was able to re-load that drive with the system and now works like a peach. Newegg RMA process nice and smooth, just would rather not have to do an RMA if you know what I mean.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Got this for my first ssd drive. Made it my boot drive for windows 7 and noticed a decent speed increase. It worked so well I've decided to buy another larger drive for my software programs.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Updated the drive to the latest firmware before I installed anything. Running a hp computer using an asus montherbord with an h67 chipset. 0 problems
