1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT GET!!

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: Fast bootup

Cons: Crashes with blue screen, completely crashed and not recognized after having it for 4 months.

Other Thoughts: Had contacted OCZ asking them for an RMA as well as if they could recover the ssd. They answered after sometime that they can't recover any files but could do the rma. Messaged them the next day for RMA and never heard a reply. Just left the ssd sitting on the desk for couple months now with no way of returning it for another. BAD COMPANY!!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

First, I am sorry you experienced issues with an OCZ product. Usually a request for a RMA is followed with some basic troubleshooting and then a request for a copy of your purchase invoice. If you did not receive this request it was likely routed to your spam/junk folder by your email provider. Please contact us again using the link below and reference your previous ticket number. We will gladly make RMA arrangements with you per the OCZ Storage Solutions Limited Warranty. If after contacting us again you do not receive a response (make sure to check your junk/spam folder) please contact me using the email address below and I will investigate.

On behalf of OCZ, I apologize for the inconvenience!

2 out of 5 eggsWorked for 1yr

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: It was fast while it worked

Cons: I've now owned the device for 1yr and 3 months. It just died. I had my Linux OS up and running and I started seeing "input/output error" on every application or command. Reboot and checked BIOS. Yep, it was gone.

Other Thoughts: Just created a service ticket. OCZ is now owned by Toshiba. Lets see how they handle the issue. If these drives are prone to die after 1 yr, I'd like them to give me something more reliable in exchange.

Luckily I was smart and kept my /home partition on an actual Samsung Spinpoint 1TB drive. So my files are safe. Samsung Drives have always proven reliable for me. I like OCZ, but if this keeps up, I'll just switch to samsung.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked great until...

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: Ok so I used this on my desktop for my operating system and for everyday software and it is fast. I could boot up under 12 seconds and it could read and write noticeable faster than my HDD. But, It started acting up about a year after I owned it and about two mounts later it died.

Cons: It lasted about 15 months and after reading reviews I was pretty lucky, I would not recommend this thing at all, I would stay away from OCZ. There SSD's are anything but reliable as I was literally waiting for this thing to crash. If you don't take my word for it than just keep reading the reviews.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Consumer,

I am very sorry to read of your issues with the Vector SSD. What you have observed is not normal; the small feedback sample on a site like this can easily distort the overall reliability reputation or reality. You suggested others should read reviews: I will even provide a link to an index of hundreds of reviews, many of which include updates referencing long term reliablity of the reviewed sample. You will find that linked below.

OCZ takes seriously the negative experience you have had and will take steps to resolve the situation in accordance with the OCZ Storage Solutions Limited Warranty. Please contact us using the link below and we will gladly assist.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: Performs as advertised

Cons: I RMA'd this thing back in January and guess what... I just RMA'd it again. This drive is 100 percent bound to fail as you can tell by the other reviews. I took a gamble and have paid dearly for it. Go with another brand.

Other Thoughts: OCZ needs to just shut down. They're bankrupt for a reason

1 out of 5 eggsDead Drive

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: While it worked, the drive was great. This was my very first SSD drive and I loved the speed it gave my PC. My PC booted up windows in about 12 seconds.

Cons: After about a month of use the drive just gave out. It would not power up and I contacted OCZ Support. The support was good, they tried to help me figure out if it was a drive issue or another issue (it was a newly built PC) once we knew it was a dead drive they had me ship it out and was sent a new one. Well, this new one only lasted about another month or so. I replaced the Drive with a new Hard Drive because I was tired of losing all my data with the SSD. I'm not sure if I just have the worst of luck with the OCZ Vector or what but I would not recommend it.

Other Thoughts: The Drive has just been sitting in a drawer, might call OCZ tech for a refund or maybe a different drive model. I would love to have an SSD drive again.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsWhat I thought was great....

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: This drive worked great from the start. Fast, reliable, never had any issues. I could turn on the PC and be at my desktop ready to work within 15-25 seconds. Showed excellent speeds. I even tweaked windows to limit the amount of I/O on the drive to help try and keep the lifespan to it's max. Then it died....

Cons: After 1 year and 1 month it was dead. I should of noticed something was going on when my computer would take roughly 30-40 seconds to turn off when it use to take 30 seconds to shut down and be back to my desktop ready to use. I thought other issues were the problem, scanned everything on my computer, virus, malware, rootkits and all came up clean. All hardware tests were showing good results but Windows would continue to become corrupted and with every retart more issues would arise. Formatted and installed 3-4 times before my computer would no longer show this drive connected....installed everything onto my 2 TB drive and all is well....Can't even detect this drive to even attempt to run any of the tests ("repairs") they suggest trying.

Oh well, good thing memorial day weekend is coming up. A newer, faster, more reliable, and higher capacity drive will most likely be on sale.

Other Thoughts: I use to believe in OCZ hardware. I still think their memory was good, but their ssd reliability could use a lot more work. That being said when i purchased this drive I don't remember seeing any bad reviews. Now there seems to be plenty of us.

Gave it 2 Eggs for it being good while it lasted...

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Consumer,

I am very sorry to read you encountered issues with the drive. Please contact us and we will gladly assist. If we cannot recover the product we will quickly issue a RMA number so we can replace the drive if necessary. 1 out of 5 eggs2nd SSD failure in the period of 6 month

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: Fast, when working

Cons: 2nd (refurbished) SSD have failed in the period of 6 month. This is embarrassing for the SSD factory. I am not doing anything crazy, only normal everyday computing.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Consumer,

Experiencing multiple failures of a single drive within a 6 month period indicates there may be a problem with the host system contributing to the issues you have experienced. If you haven't already, please contact us again and we will help pinpoint the potential problem. Of course, if we cannot recover the drive we will make arrangements in accordance with the warranty terms.

It is important to us that your experience with Vector is a fast and reliable one; we will take some extra time to help correct the issues going forward.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience!

1 out of 5 eggsThoroughly unrealiable - use at your own risk

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: On paper, a very solid SSD. Good capacity, great transfer rates, good utility suite. Online reviews from reputable hardware sites all rate this SSD highly. Very attractive $/GB ratio when on sale.

Cons: This drive is wholly and completely unreliable. I purchased one on 02/13. It promptly failed on 7/13. On that occasion, I tried to be a good customer (and a tech-savvy one) and tried the entire SSD Revival Procedure according to OCZ (unplug to "drain" (?), change cable, change slot, clear CMOS, etc.). The drive never worked again. RMA'd it. Apparently the firmware version I was using was vulnerable to some "edge case". Fine.

Got new drive 08/13. Updated firmware. Used it as my OS drive. Died 05/13. At least it gave some warning first (BSODs, mainly).

Also note: OCZ offers next to no support for these drives. If they die, they will die completely and catastrophically. Their forums provide a "procedure" for dead SSDs, but I now believe it's a placebo. No user ever reports that the procedure works, so it's straight to RMA.

Other Thoughts: I can see this drive being useful in light-duty, non-mission critical applications. Otherwise, avoid. My opinion of OCZ has plummeted, I will never trust any of their products and will encourage others to do the same.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Consumer,

We are sorry to read about the problems with your Vector SSD(s). We will gladly help you with the drive. The procedure you have referred to in your feedback is suggested because of the success rate. Drive detection issues are often linked to BIOS signaling or cable issues and simple procedures often correct the behavior. While the procedure doesn't help in every case, the rate of success certainly demands that it is attempted. If we cannot quickly correct the issue we will make arrangements for another warranty replacement. Please contact us using the link below and we will offer whatever assistance we can.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience!

1 out of 5 eggsKeeps failing

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: Fast!

Cons: SSD kept failing. At first I wasn't sure if it was another issue like software or another component. Took me months to narrow it down to the issue being the SSD drive. Had to reinstall windows 8 every time my PC crashed and now that I removed the SSD not a single issue in the last 45 days.

Other Thoughts: Unfortunately it took so long to determine what was causing my PC to crash I am beyond the return date!

1 out of 5 eggsFeels like a cruel joke.

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: From a functionality standpoint, this drive screams! Very fast! Especially in comparision to other SSDs at this price point. But it won't stay working...

Cons: I have RMA'd my drive twice already and it has since crashed again, and will be shipped back for its 3rd RMA. I've never had a product break this often, it seems like a cruel joke - it's VERY unreliable. With this said, it's not worth your money, look elsewhere.

Other Thoughts: It's a huge thorn in my side, all of my other components have stood the test of time. I take great care of my computer from both a physical and configuration standpoint. To no avail this drive refuses to do its job.

Side note: I have nothing bad to say about OCZ's customer support. They have been very helpful throughout the whole process. Unfortunely, that's not enough justification to buy anything OCZ again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Consumer,

What you have experienced is very unusual. A single Vector failure is very rare and a 2nd and even 3rd tends to indicate very extreme circumstances and likely environment variables out of our control. I recommend you create a support ticket at ocz.com and reference your previous RMA numbers. I also recommend you inquire about the possibility of a refund at current market value, as outlined in the OCZ Storage Solutions Limited Warranty.

You may use the link below to create a new support ticket.
